selinux with samba

I'm having problems setting up a samba server with sellinux in centos 5.6 (x64). My samba config works flawlessly when selinux is disabled but fails to access shares when selinux is enabled. Wich command makes it possible to run samba with selinux without disabling it, now I've done: "set sebool -P smbd_disable_trans 1" but doesn't really solve my problem. Thanks in advance! geert

necessary/unused rpm packages

Is there a way to identify if an rpm package is unused, or how much it is used? I would like to reduce my load time by removing unused packages in my kickstart, but do not want to cause problems for users on active systems by guessing which ones are not necessary (I load everything with kickstart now). If I could find the packages are not used I could start by excluding them from a load and be fairly certain my users would not be impacted.

drbd update 8.3.8.1

Can we get a refresh of the drbd packages to 8.3.8.1 There was a fix to the resync protocol. 8.3.8 would stall under certain circumstances. Thanks, -Shad

FreeNx doesn't work?

I have installed freenx with this article http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/FreeNX but when I use freenx-client on windows to connect to server, I always get an "freenx Authentication failed." client err log output as this: NX> 203 NXSSH running with pid: 1584 NX> 285 Enabling check on switch command NX> 285 Enabling skip of SSH config files NX> 285 Setting the preferred NX options NX> 200 Connected to address: 192.168.253.5 on port: 22 NX> 202 Authenticating user: nx NX> 208 Using auth method: publickey NX> 204 Authentication failed. My sshd configed as use rsa key, and ssh soft like xshell can work well. nxsetup output as this: Pleas care the following red commented two line. I just think this is the point. Went with OpenDNS for now

A few weeks ago I asked about firewalls and family filters. Lanny Marcus, I believe, suggested OpenDNS. Just wanted to thank him (and everyone here) for their suggestions. Eventually I would like to learn about firewalls, but I don't really want to run another machine at this time. OpenDNS is trivial to set up on the router and looks to be just about exactly what I wanted. Thanks. Zoneminder

I have a few dvr's that I am contemplating converting to Zoneminder (don't know any other app) and would prefer to use CentOS over fedora obviously but the only rpm I see exists for Fedora. I don't want the hassle of manually compiling this, as we have our own config mgmt. Anyone using this rpm (srpm recompiled) in CentOS or know of a solution that exists? Thanks! jlc

HP ML110 G6: how to update kernel with HP hpahcisr raid driver installed

Hi! I have install Centos 5.5 on HP ProLiant ML110 G6 with RAID-1 hardware active. (00:1f.2 RAID bus controller: Intel Corporation 5 Series/3400 Series Chipset SATA RAID Controller (rev 05)) I have follow this suggest: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?la… ... start with "linux dd" and, at the end of setup, install the hpahcisr into kernel 2.6.18-194.el5PAE But after reboot if I run a "yum update" and reboot, the new kernel not contain the driver hpahcisr for new kernel and I get a kernel panic. The question is: How to update to last kernel without lost the proprietary driver? It's possible? Where is the new driver for new kernel? Many thanks. -- Dario Lesca <d.lesca(a)solinos.it>

MegaRAID Storage Manager on CentOS 5.5?

Does anyone have the 'MegaRAID Storage Manager' GUI working on CentOS 5.5? I can run it, but it won't let me log in. The docs state that it requires the local root username and password - but it always rejects this with "Message = Login failed: Invalid username or password!" Thanks James Pearson
