nlockdmgr listen on privileged port

hey list! I am attempting to shore up some centos machines (ranging from centos 5 to centos 5.4) for pci compliance by changing the port that nlockdmgr listens on to function under a privileged port. So what I did was try to hardcode the port by editing /etc/sysconfig/nfs # TCP port rpc.lockd should listen on. LOCKD_TCPPORT=1011 # UDP port rpc.lockd should listen on. LOCKD_UDPPORT=1011 # And /etc/modprobe.conf alias eth1 e1000e alias scsi_hostadapter 3w-9xxx alias scsi_hostadapter1 usb-storage alias eth0 e1000e options lockd nlm_udpport=1011 options lockd nlm_tcpport=1011 and then restarting the pormap service. CentOS HA problem

Hello,guys: I try to compile heartbeat 3.0.4 from official sources on CentOS 5.5 x86_64 . When I start the heartbeat configuration, I encountered a problem: ./ConfigureMe configure --prefix = /path/hb ..... ..... ..... checking for heartbeat / glue_config.h ... No configure: error: Core development headers not found What is the meaning of that message? In other words, is it the something that had not been installed ? Thanks in advanced......

Hi I am trying to connect a reliance netconnect data card on my linux box ( cent os ) , i am able to the detect the device /dev/ttyUSB0 these are the following steps I did : Check your card is recognized by the kernel # cat /proc/bus/usb/devices ..... ..... 32-bit compat-gcc on 64-bit CentOS?

Ugh. One of our internal servers crashed so bad I just went out and bought a new machine to replace it. The old server was Pentium-4 based and running CentOS-5. When I installed CentOS on the new machine, I used the 64-bit version, partly because that habit is almost automatic nowadays, and partly because the new machine has 6GB of RAM, so 32-bit seemed not very appropriate. Anyway, I've managed to configure every one of the old server's many functions to match on the new server but one: I need the 32-bit version of compat-gcc-34. (Or at least I need to be able to compile 32-bit binaries with the already available version.) I can't seem to do this; am I just missing something? In retrospect, installing the 64-bit OS may have been foolish. But it's too late now. I've spent several days installing/loading/configuring this system to the point it's at now. It would be a pity to have to start over completely just to enable this one (very critical) function. -Alan

It's been many years, but it seems that I have to receive a fax and might have to send one too. Is there a way to do this on CentOS 5.5? (Hope so.) tia. -- Anything is easy if you know how to do it.

Failed to start new browser session: Error while launching browser on session null

Hope this email finds you well. I need your advice with something if you can help out. I have an RC serer (selenium rc) which is running on a centos 5.2 and another on a 5.4 machine. if i run it through X server, in other words if i run the server while connected to VNC. it works fine. but if i run it through ssh, it will start normally though upon test execution it will fail with the following error: 11:05:01.571 INFO - Preparing Firefox profile... Error: no display specified 11:05:21.818 ERROR - Failed to start new browser session, shutdown browser and clear all session data java.lang.RuntimeException: Timed out waiting for profile to be created! 11:05:21.833 INFO - Got result: Failed to start new browser session: Error while launching browser on session null any idea how i can solve this? Centos+AD integration (uid/gid problems)

Hi, I need to have several EL machines in an AD env. Joining the machines was easier than expected using authconfig, but what happens now is that blahdomain\blahuser gets assigned a different, random ID each time I use a different station. In AD I did specify the UID and GID in the UNIX Attributes tab for blahuser, but it gets totally ignored; so do the other values (for home, shell etc). Ideally I'd have all the users assigned a static uid and gid from AD and have /home on all machines mounted from NFS; but right now if I log in with blahuser to another machine my $HOME is owned by another random id. Sugesstions? What am I missing? I'm quite a noob with Windows :) Cheers

OT: virtual host for apache/tomcat servers

I hope someone here can answer my question so I don't have to join another mailing list, on too many as it is... I have the following installed: httpd-2.2.3-43.el5.centos.3 tomcat5-5.5.23 I have a small jsp app that I can hit through apache like: http://www.mydomain.com/tomcat/myapp.jsp So tomcat in the url above is the apache proxy address for the tomcat server. I want to setup a virtual host in apache to automatically load this app if I type: http://myapp.mydomain.com I'm having trouble figuring this out. If I try to setup a virtual host, apache complains that /tomcat is not a valid DocumentRoot. Looking at tons of docs, but not seeing the solution. Any help is appreciated. Thanks, James
