ESXi 4.1 and Cluster Fencing

Hi. I'm new to configuring Clustering . The CentOS 5.5 guest machines will be running on ESXi 4.1 . I'm configuring the clustering using "Conga" . I see that there is support for using ESX to do the fencing. The problem I have is that the guest machines are not allowed to have access the "management network" as per security policies. The guest machines don't no access to the management IPs of any of the hardware as per security policies. How should I implement fencing. Affordable KVM over IP switch

ACPI errors during bootup

Hi, Am trying to build SMP kernel. Took kernel-2.6.18-194.src.rpm, extracted, rpmbuilded with SMP option. Successfully compile the new kernel and when using that kernel to boot up, following errors were shown up(highlighted in bold & red color): My kernel config file has ACPI and PCI configs enabled. Duplicate Mails

Hi, due to some idiot not being able to configure his Exchange server correctly, this list has been swamped by loads of duplicate mails. There were still several hundreds of mails awaiting delivery to this list. I have removed all of those from the mail queue - so if you are missing a mail you have sent, please resubmit it, it probably was lost while I cleaned the queue as I had no way of telling those apart from the reinjections. I am sorry that I had to do that, but I am sure that you'd rather resubmit than receiving close to 1000 duplicate mails. The user reinjecting the mails has been identified and shot^Wbanned from the mailing list, he cannot resubscribe. Apologies if this caused any inconveniences. Regards, Ralph Angenendt

EXT4 Filesystem Mount Failed (bad geometry: block count)

Please find attached primary.zip file contains message log files and drbd configuration file for more analysis. Now that we've got the thing, does anyone know what ppd I can use for it? I've seen someone recommending: - the generic postscript ppd; - the hplips driver. I also see ppd's for a DesignJet 800ps, and ones for the 5000ps and 5500ps. Has anyone had any experience with any of these? mark

The overhead and instabilities of installing the components and configuring these features is adventuresome. Simply explaining to a client's inventory management that *they have to record the MAC addresses when they receive the hardware* so that the DHCP setups and network setups can be done gracefully has been awkward. For a few servers in a personal, or small business rack, it's not a big problem. But even the big hardware vendors can be very confusing to learn all the interface tricks and configurations for, and in a mixed environment it can get out of hand really, really fast. I've had a devil of a time demonstrating, and explaining to clients, why they need these tools, right up to the point when they say "but, but, but, I can do that with the Windows servers!!!!" and showing them, on the purchase orders and the emails, where they paid for that service and where they refused to allow me to install the drivers because that "wasn't part of the project". This has actually gotten *MUCH* better with "our favorite upstream verndor's" 6.0 operating system, and I'm looking forward to CentOS 6.0 with baited breath. The really cool features of IPMI have matured a lot, and in some cases no hardware vendor drivers are needed, It Just Works with the basic system installation. Unfortunately, I don't have a rack of hosts to test this on this week, or I'd suggest it.
