Hey on Centos 5 hfsplus.ko is part of the Kernel: kernel-2.6.18-238.12.1.el5.x86_64 : The Linux kernel (the core of the Linux operating system) Repo : installed Matched from: Filename : /lib/modules/2.6.18-238.12.1.el5/kernel/fs/hfsplus/hfsplus.ko doing a yum provides "*/hfsplus.ko" on CentOS 6 finds nothing. What happened to hfsplus.ko on Centos 6? Thanks, Jerry

WINS server (nmbd) puzzle

My client Windows XP boxes are failing to register with my WINS server (running nmbd from Samba). I'm puzzled how to figure out what I'm doing wrong. Background: I'm setting up BackupPC to back up my Windows clients using rsync. I've installed cwRsync to the clients. BackupPC uses nmblookup to find the client's IP address given its Windows NETBIOS name. I'm distributing the WINS server address via DHCP and see it on the client using "ipconfig /all". I can run tcpdump on the server (filtering for this client and the NETBIOS port) and see the register/response sequence at UDP 137: MULTIHOMED REGISTRATION; REQUEST; UNICAST REGISTRATION; POSITIVE; RESPONSE; UNICAST REGISTRATION; REQUEST; UNICAST REGISTRATION; POSITIVE; RESPONSE; UNICAST If I signal the nmbd process with SIGHUP to make it dump its table to nmbd.log, I don't see client in the list. I do see the server and my Windows Active Directory server's records in the list, but no clients. nmblookup finds the client by broadcast (the client responds with the record) but nmblookup -U 127.0.0.1 says there's no record of it. (A query for the server's own record finds it, so I know the WINS service is at least working to that degree.) So why is nmbd not remembering client records?

Just looking for all the doc I can find on the subject. And maybe also for the hidden secret magic button that will auto-write the hundreds custom policies we will need... Creating a custom policy for an apache to use a non standard rootdir or port seems indeed easy with audit2allow... But several of our servers are more or less 10% standard (rpm based) and 90% custom, with dozens of apps/scripts listening on dozens non standard ports, sockets, accessing many files here and there... ICMPv6 messages of type RS

Hallo, as described by CISCO in http://www.cisco.com/web/about/ac123/ac147/archived_issues/ipj_7-2/ipv6_aut… a router hast to send ICMPv6 messages of type RS to the all-router multicast group: ff02::1 and ff02::2 for stateless autoconfiguration. How can I activate this sending in CentOS? Best regards Helmut

Radeon driver under CentOS-6

I wonder if anyone has CentOS-6 working on an HP MicroServer? I'm having a problem with the graphics driver for the Radeon HD 4200 graphics card. CentOS-5.6 is working fine on this machine; but at present I only have CentOS-6 running in text mode. The graphics card as given by "/sbin/lspci -m" is ------------------------------- 01:05.0 "VGA compatible controller" "ATI Technologies Inc" "M880G [Mobility Radeon HD 4200]" "Hewlett-Packard Company" "Device 1609" ------------------------------- The Radeon related modules are ------------------------------- [tim@grover ~]$ lsmod | grep -i radeon radeon 798300 0 ttm 47134 1 radeon drm_kms_helper 32113 1 radeon drm 202185 3 radeon,ttm,drm_kms_helper i2c_algo_bit 5664 1 radeon i2c_core 31274 5 i2c_piix4,radeon,drm_kms_helper,drm,i2c_algo_bit ------------------------------- Under CentOS-5.6 the Radeon related modules are ------------------------------- [tim@grover ~]$ lsmod | grep -i radeon radeon 148193 0 drm 115561 1 radeon ------------------------------- Admittedly I have probably installed different packages in the two cases. CentOS 6 + XEN problem

Hi, Does anyone know what version of XEN works fine with CentOS 6? Migration Assistance

Good Afternoon, I have been tasked with migrating a machine sitting on RHEL 5.6 off a rackspace cloud server to a local machine. In order to cut costs we would like to utilize Centos 5.6. I have done quite a bit of research and have as of yet been able to find a clear answer on how to accomplish this. I have installed Centos 5.6 locally and am in a time crunch to complete this. I am hoping that someone can explain how to achieve this requirement. I did create a .tar file of the / partition of the RHEL remote server and rsync'd it locally. Hopefully I can just copy certain files from this .tar file to the new machine. Any and all assistance is tremendously appreciated. Best. Brian

managing a rack full of centos servers

to date, I've done all my administration on a manual 1 at a time basis, as each system has been pretty much unique. its looking like I might need to setup a deployment of a dozen or 2 basically identical machines, all running pretty much the same sorts of stuff. I have zero experience with the sorts of management tools folks use to automate this type of configuration, both initial setup, and ongoing management (system updates, user application updates, configuration changes, etc). anyone care to suggest any such tools, maybe some real-world pros and cons? of course, being centos, I prefer FOSS tools. for various reasons, this environment likely will NOT be virtualized (although I may emulate a test setup with vmware). -- john r pierce N 37, W 122 santa cruz ca mid-left coast

libxml for CentOS6?

Hello there, I'm struggling w/ my Canon Pixma iP1600 printer on a 64bit CentOS. I've installed all the necessary 32bit rpms to make use of the 32bit IP2200 driver found on Canon's side, but I'm missing libxml v1 (recompiling a src.rpm fails on at link against -lxml). I could not find a libxml package for CentOS6.. does anyone know a source where I could find it? It's not available from epel, atrpms, rpmforge, puias, remi. Regards, -- wwp
