[OT] Broken system practical tests

A while ago when doing my RHCE someone mentioned to me a rather nifty site that can randomly break a system in a variety of ways - useful for practical testing of a candidate. It was something like monkey test .... or something... Anyway as you can see my memory is failing me.... does this ring any bells with anyone? I'd like to give it a try for someone I'm interviewing in the next few days if anyone remembers a link... James

Problem with procmail

I'm trying to setup email on a new server running CentOS-6.2 (x86_64), but for some reason email is going to /var/spool/mail/ despite the fact that my .procmailrc starts ------------------------------- DEFAULT=/var/spool/mail MAILDIR=/home/tim/Maildir/ SHELL=/bin/sh DROPPRIVS=yes ------------------------------- and I have ------------------------------- MAILER(smtp)dnl MAILER(procmail)dnl ------------------------------- in /etc/mail/sendmail.mc . (I have run /etc/mail/make and restarted sendmail .) It is as though procmail is not running, or at least sendmail is not using it. I have the same setup on my old CentOS-5.7 server, and this seems to work fine. gtkmm 3.0?

I am a newbie so this may be a question with an obvious answer. Is there a (practical) way to get gtkmm 3.0 on Centos 6. It comes with gtimm 2.4 and at one point in my random surfing, I thought I found the newer version in the testing section. But I am having trouble getting access to the packages in the testing section, and am not entirely sure what to do if I actually could get access. Any help would be appreciated (or suggestions about where to look for help). Many Thanks. Andy Gilman

man pages conflicting?

Just got this message after an autoupdate on my 5.x system.. should I be worried? Hi, This is the automatic update system on mail.<xxx>.com. There was a problem updating the system. I am trying to migrate from old /etc/inittab to upstart. I am close. I used to have 2 or 4 lines in /etc/inittab to start 2 or 4 processes. v1:2345:respawn:/home/silentm/bin/myfile -port 4000 v2:2345:respawn:/home/silentm/bin/myfile -port 5000 something like that... So now I create a file /etc/init/myfile.conf and in it I put: respawn script /home/silentm/bin/myfile -port 4000 /home/silentm/bin/myfile -port 5000 endscript Only the first process is created. I think I have to do something with "instance 2" but I wasnt getting results with that either. What am I missing in the myfile.conf to get the two processes running ? Thanks, Jerry

CentOS - Iaas - your experiences?

Hi all. We currently want to deploy a test private IaaS. It will look something like below: 2 Gb switches several hardware nodes for virtualization (?) 2 10Gb switches redundant storage (?) What are you proposing to use on every level? Eucalyptus/OpenStack/something else for cloud management? And why? KVM/Xen/something else for virtualization? iSCSI/NFS/something else for storage? Please share your experiences and pros/cons which you observed. Maybe also some good howtos? What happened to the mirrors?

Hi all, what happened to the mirrors? Many of them are outdated and older than 2days. They are missing the latest updates from yesterday and the day before yesterday. According to http://mirror-status.centos.org a whopping number of 227 mirrors are currently out of date. This is the major part of all European mirrors. :( Can someone please have a closer look at this? bugzilla + centos 5.7 + yaml errors

Hi all, Struggling with installing ol Bugzy 4.0.3 onto Centos 5.7. When I run the checksetup.pl script included with Bugzilla, I get the message; /usr/bin/perl install-module.pl Email::MIME So I run this from the command line and get YAML errors; Checking for YAML (any) not found I had installed YAML via; yum install *YAML* The package perl-YAML-0.72-1.el5.rf.noarch is on my system. Any advice on how I can get past this bloody YAML issue? - aurf

Dovecot under CentOS-6

I've been running dovecot on a CentOS-5.7 server. Now I'm moving over to another server running CentOS-6.2. I thought I was running dovecot on the new server, but in fact there was an error during the setup, with the result that incoming mail finished up in /var/spool/mail/ rather than in ~/Maildir , where I wanted it to go. Now I'm wondering if there is some way that I can re-direct the mail in /var/spool/mail/<mymbox> so that it goes through the system as though it were just arriving? I mean, so that it gets distributed into the correct folders under ~/Maildir , as specified in .procmailrc .
