I searched for libid3-3.8.so.3 with yum: # yum search \*libid3-3.8\* but it returns "No Matches found" Am I not searching correctly, or does this not exist in CentOS 5.7? tnx

Setting From address for cronjob mails (because Gmail rejects)

Both machines have several cronjobs and logwatch. One machine is a database server, I receive its cronjob mails just fine. The other machine (preferans.de) is running Drupal 7. I've configured it's MX records to point to Google Apps, so that I can receive mails addressed to that domain and this works well. Also I've set Drupal's From address to webmaster(a)xn--prferans-d8g.de and so sending mails by Drupal (for its user registration) works too. But sending mails to my Gmail address by cronjobs doesn't work. Transition to CentOS - RAID HELP!

Hi Folks, I've inherited an old RH7 system that I'd like to upgrade to CentOS6.1 by means of wiping it clean and doing a fresh install. However, the system has a software raid setup that I wish to keep untouched as it has data on that I must keep. Or at the very least, TRY to keep. If all else fails, then so be it and I'll just recreate the thing. I do plan on backing up the data first in case of disasters. But I'm hoping I don't have to considering there's some 500GiB on it. The previous owner sent me a breakdown of how they build the raid when it was first done. I've included an explanation below this message with the various command outputs. Apparently their reason for doing it the way they did was so they can easily add drives to the raid and grow everything equally. It just seems a bit convoluted to me. Here's my problem: I have no idea what the necessary steps are to recreate it, as in, in what order. I presume it's pretty much the way they explained it to me: - create partitions - use mdadm to create the various md volumes - use pvcreate to create the various physical volumes - use lvcreate to create the two logical volumes If that's the case, great. However, can I perform a complete system wipe, install CentOS 6.1, and re-attach the raid and mount the logical volumes without much trouble? What follows is the current setup, or at least, the way it was originally configured. The system has 5 drives in it: sda = main OS drive (80 GiB) sdb, sdc, sdd, and sde: raid drives, 500 GiB each. I came to much the same conclusion after I eventually found an article about tinkering with the host kernel device tables to remap each NIC instance. I was going to try it until I discovered that the new motherboard I'm using doesn't properly support IOMMU in the BIOS, which the mapping trick requires. So much for that idea. Your method of not configuring a bridge IP address gets around having the NIC appear to my ISP as having some sort of rogue IP (even if I assign something in the 172.16... range). I wasn't aware that I could bring up the bridge without an IP. But a new problem arises ... one of the m0n0wall instances needs to use DHCP to get a dynamic IP from my ISP (the others are static, so they're ok). How do I get the bridge to proxy the DHCP request and forward the response to the VM guest? I brought up a test instance of m0n0wall but when it asks for an IP on its WAN side, the result is 0.0.0.0/8 so it would appear the request never makes it to the ISP. As a sanity check, I configured the WAN-side bridge to use DHCP and that worked, but it's the m0n0wall VM guest that needs to make the request, not the CentOS host. Suggestions anyone? In the mean time, I'll keep looking for a solution. Thanks, Chuck

Redundant DHCP server with mixed static nonstatic ips

Hi, it's time to start our redundant dhcp server setup and I found some suggestions and tutorials. But all setups I found use either static or nonstatic ip adress management. For the static setup I'd setup two servers and copy the configfile from the 'master' to the secondary server and do a dhcpd restart. For the nonstatic I have to setup pool and failover peer configurations to have the lease information synced. My question: Can I mix both types of configuration? May be somewone has an example config for me? We use centos 6.2 and it would be dhcp 4.1.1. Thanks for any suggestion and best regards . CentOS 6.2 KS/Installer

I'm using the kickstart file we developed for v5 on 6.2 in VM (kvm/qemu running on a CentOS 5.6), but it fails: Error partitioning. Could not allocate requested partitions: not enough free space on disks. There's nothing wrong with the disk. Both fdisk and parted works fine, I can view, partition and write a partition table and the disk is 10.5GB. However, looking through the logs, it tries to run 'dmsetup info /dev/sda' which fails! Device /dev/sda not found Command failed The disk setup part looks like this: zerombr clearpart --drives=sda --initlabel part /boot --fstype ext3 --size 200 --ondrive=sda part swap --recommended --ondrive=sda part / --fstype ext3 --size 40000 --ondrive=sda part /scratch --fstype ext3 --size 1 --grow --ondrive=sda Running without a KS, the GUI works (but I still got the problem with dmsetup in the logs). I/) Settings for Skype

I've managed to get Skype set up and working. I can hear the other person talking, but she can't hear me. During a conversation, I tried what I thought to be all possible settings in both the "Volume Control" application and in Skype itself. But no joy. To make matters more puzzling, I had skype working on this same machine last year using CentOS 5.6... or maybe it was 5.7... I don't recall. And I've successfully recorded my own voice with this same microphone on Audacity. So is there some secret to getting the Skype settings right? Or are there some (other) tests I can run outside of Skype to determine what the I/O settings within Skype should be. Any help is much appreciated.
