IE 9 not sending digest auth info

I migrated our internal wiki server last week, and some IE users aren't able to authenticate. The service is hosted by Apache using Digest authentication. It migrated from Apache 2.2.9 (Debian 5) to Apache 2.2.15 (CentOS 6). The internal hostname for the wiki server is a DNS CNAME that was repointed from one host to another during the cutover. In a normal session, 1. Client sends GET 2. Server sends 401 with WWW-Authenticate header 3. Client sends GET with Authorization header 4. Server sends 200 with Authentication-Info header and page content When using IE 9 (and possibly 8, I'm still trying to track that down), 1. Client sends GET 2. Server sends 401 with WWW-Authenticate header 3. Client resends GET (*without* Authorization header) 4. Server sends 401 with WWW-Authenticate header 5. Etc. IE seems to be ignoring 401 and/or the WWW-Authenticate headers. Using Chrome on Windows works fine; the issues are specific to IE. Any ideas? Long time away for Centos installs, need some info

I have not touched my Centos systems for over a year; it is time to get current to do some new, interesting things. So of course, 6.3, but which install? I run a local repo that I rsync from a mirror near me. So I believe I can use the Netinstall iso, but which one? How do I determine if I have a i386 or x86_64 processor? If x86_64 how do I determine if I use EFI or not?

iSCSI Question

Hey everyone, Is anybody aware of a /true/ active/active multi-head and multi-target clustered iSCSI daemon? IE: Server 1: Hostname: host1.test.com IP Address: 10.0.0.1 Server 2: Hostname: host2.test.com IP Address: 10.0.0.2 Then they would utilize a CLVM disk between them, let's call that VG "disk" and then directly map each LUN (1,2,3,4,etc) to LV's named 1,2,3,4,... and so on. That would essentially make both host1 and host2 identical iSCSI targets. So I could hook up 30 servers to each LUN on each host1 and host2 (assuming those block devices had a cluster aware filesystem on them). However, what I wan't to accomplish is true active/active MPIO utilizing the dm driver to combine LUN 1 from both host1 and host2 as a single /dev/dm-0 device in active/active mode. This would allow me to multipath across multiple fabrics, develop true high availability and increase my throughput significantly. Any idea of an iscsi tgtd that supports this? As far as I can tell, none do (that I can find). I know some proprietary vendors have this type of functionality, which may or may not be using iSCSI code (but that's a whole set of arguments for later..). Ultimately, my goal is this. I want to take my existing Ceph cluster, expose a handful of RBDs from it to two iSCSI heads running C6 or RHEL6 or what have you, so I can use my inexpensive storage built on Linux -- for my Windows 2008 machines. XFCE4 group missing on Centos 5.x?

I had XFCE group installed and working on C5.8 32 bit. I have done a fresh installation using the C 5.5 DVD. I cannot seem to find the XFCE group now. Has this been removed from Centos 5.x ? CentOS 6.3 - KDE login screen configuration problems

Hello, We generally use CentOS for some servers, and so do not use a GUI interface. However, I have recently installed CentOS 6.3 onto a PC with KDE. I am familiar with KDE as I use it with Fedora for my work PC. The problem is that we would like to configure the login screen, so that it does not show the user list, that it does not allow the shutdown or reboot commands (from the login screen), and if possible to remove the 30 second confirmation timer that occurs when logout (via 'leave') is selected. I have gone into the 'System settings->Advanced->Login screen', and disabled both local and remote shutdowns and reboots. I have also disabled the showing of the user list, and disabled logout confirmations. However, none of this has had any effect. The login screen remains the same - showing the userlist and shutdown/reboot commands, and logging out still shows the 30 second confirmation timer. I have compared the /etc/kde/kdm/kdmrc file from the CentOS PC to my Fedora PC and they are similar. (I make the same changes to my work PC, and these take effect.) Anyone any ideas about this? Possible repo polllution

Hi, I've just been checking my local copy of the CentOS repos. I found 200+ i386/i686 packages in both the updates/5/RPMS and updates/6/Packages directories. I checked with my rsync site ( ftp.heanet.ie ) and the equivalent UK site ( ftp.mirrorservice.org ) and they both carried these packages also. Is this a case a repo pollution, it can't be necessary to have i386 packages in the x86_64 updates. Just checking before I delete these packages. Thanks. Tony

CentOS 6.3, libreoffice-core-3.4.5.2-16.1.el6_3.x86_64, running kde I had a couple of documents up. From a terminal window, I ran soffice to look at a document I'd just received in an email*. Looked at it. Killed the soffice session... and the other docs closed, and libreoffice shut down. Anyone else seen something like this? mark * For extra measure, I know that I've put *.docx in system-settings->file-associations->applications, yet if I try to open it with a click from t-bird, it tells me it has no clue how to open it. What have I missed...?

The installation was a DVD1 install. The internet is via a direct cable out of my laptop direct to a DSL modem. Even tried my cell-c modem (cell phone provider) which works on all the below OS'ses. I am a pensionar and have lots of time. Experimenting with different flavours of linux each on a external USB drive. Like suse, mandriva, debian, mint, debian-mint, ubuntu, fedora, magaia, bodhi, arch-linux, centos. Up to date only arch-linux and now centos refuse my internet connection. I appreciate your responses but if it can not be done, that is a pity, then it is fine. Regards JohanS

opennx wants to replace nxclient on all my CentOS 6 servers

Looks like opennx appeared in the extras repository some time recently. Because the extras repository is enabled by default, all of the servers where I have nxclient installed are showing opennx as available which will obsolete nxclient. I went ahead and upgraded on my laptop but the resulting opennx installation didn't launch properly. I'm now modifying my yum configurations everywhere to add exclude=opennx Without diving into the merits of whether I should be using nxclient from nomachine.com or the open-source opennx, I'm concerned that I ended up with a broken NX client and I don't remember seeing an announcement that this software package was added to extras. Is that information communicated via a mailing list that perhaps I'm not subscribed to? thanks, Greg
