One screen disabled on login with NVIDIA TwinView

Hi Is anyone here using NVIDIA display drivers and a TwinView configuration on their systems? I've got a bit of an issue with such a setup, which started occurring after a recent driver update: I have a laptop that's normally connected to an external monitor (a Samsung SyncMaster), where this monitor and the built-in display on the laptop are set up with a TwinView configuration. The external monitor is set to be the primary display via NVIDIA X Server Settings. Now, when X11 starts, both monitors seem to be enabled, based on the fact that the NVIDIA logo is displayed across both screens. The login screen then appears on the external monitor, just as I expect when it's set to primary display. But, when I actually log in, the display goes black, and the NVIDIA X Server Settings (which I open on the laptop display) report the following config: Selection: Samsung SyncMaster (DFP-1) Configuration: TwinView Resolution: Off I can easily re-enable the monitor by changing resolution to Auto or one of the listed dimensions, but having to do this every time I log in is a bit annoying. Does anyone else see this? Do you know if there is a way around it? This is on CentOS 5.8. Driver version is currently 304.60 - but I've also updated it a couple of times after this problem started occurring. Extend schema on CentOS directory server

Currently I am running freeradius with an openldap backend, I am looking to move to the CentOS directory server. The problem I am running into is that none of the RADIUS attributes I require are in the schema. My question is how do I update the schema with the needed freeradius attributes? is it as easy as taking the openldap.schema file that freeradius provides and renaming it to something like 99radius.ldif putting it in the /etc/dirsrv/"servername"/schema/ dir and restarting the service? Sorry if this question has been asked before I have been trolling the internet and haven't found a concrete answer. Thanks, Chris

Postfix dont work

Hi, i send a email to my server but i get Technical details of permanent failure: Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 554 554 5.7.1 <postmaster(a)mercadeoeficaz-cr.com>: Relay access denied (state 13). So i google and i see this If your having the issue where you send a email to a email account on your Ispconfig server and you receive a message like this: Relay Access Denied State 14 You will need to double check your postfix config. Run this command below to fix two entries in your postfix install. postconf -e 'virtual_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/virtusertable' postconf -e 'mydestination = /etc/postfix/local-host-names' After that restart postfix. service postfix restart And you should no longer receive that message. I do it, but now i dont get any message when i sending from gmail to my server(something good) but i cant see the email in my server and cannot send. mce error

During booting of Centos6 I see an error message that goes something like: Starting mcelog daemon [FAILED] AMD Processor family 15: Please load edac_mce_amd module. CPU is unsupported The only helpful information I have found is in the "preview" of https://access.redhat.com/knowledge/solutions/158503. I don't have a RedHat account, so don't know if they have a real solution. I know that mce has to do with logging certain microprocessor errors. 1. How important is this 2. Is there anything I should do, except wait for a bug fix sometime? Ted Miller Elkhart, IN

mdX and mismatch_cnt when building an array

CentOS 6.3, x86_64. I have noticed when building a new software RAID-6 array on CentOS 6.3 that the mismatch_cnt grows monotonically while the array is building: # cat /proc/mdstat Personalities : [raid6] [raid5] [raid4] md11 : active raid6 sdg[5] sdf[4] sde[3] sdd[2] sdc[1] sdb[0] 3904890880 blocks super 1.2 level 6, 512k chunk, algorithm 2 [6/6] [UUUUUU] [==================>..] resync = 90.2% (880765600/976222720) finish=44.6min speed=35653K/sec # cat /sys/block/md11/md/mismatch_cnt 1439285488 The mismatch count grows until the assembly is complete, and then remains at its highest value. A subsequent check resets it to zero (immediately) and everything is fine thereafter. The device is not in use by any other system component. I have reproduced this on several different systems; it always happens with CentOS 6.3 and never with CentOS 5.x and earlier (in 5.x, mismatch_cnt always stays at zero while assembling). I am using whole drives in this example, but it's the same if I use partitions instead. The count, size and type of drives appears to have no bearing. Perhaps just a curiosity, but I'm curious as to why it does this. Steve

Problem installing 6.3 on HP8540w laptop

Folks Just for laughs, I tried installing Centos 6.3 on the laptop HP 8540w. Windows 7 installed earlier, but I had to import a driver for the Ethernet controller since it was not supported on the distribution DVD of Windows7. The Centos installation I chose was the "NetInstall". The installation process identified eth0, I selected IPV4 DHCP, disabled IPV6, and successfully completed the install of "desktop" using the wired connection through my home network. The wireless was turned off. The ethernet controller shows up in Windows with the name "Intel 8255LM". When the reboot occurred after installation, the Ethernet did not work. The "ifconfig eth0" command showed no IP address. Where do I go from here? Thanks David

Install error - disc 2

I am doing a fresh install of 6.3 from DVDs that I created on a Windows laptop. I used ImgBurn to create them. When I started the install I selected "test" and both discs passed. The install requested disc 2 and after putting it in I get the message "That's not the correct CentOS disc". I tried creating another disc but still get the same message. The installation status bar shows that 1554 of 1555 packages have completed and that the omping package is installing. Curiously, when I look at disc 2 I don't see that package. Does anyone have any ideas about what might be going on here? Thanks, Burt
