Create Virtual Machine via HTTP or FTP

Hi, I'm trying to create a Virtual Machine using Network Install mode (I tried HTTP and FTP). The HTTP/FTP server where the installation files are located is the Host Machine. The URL that I'm using is: http://192.168.1.104/inst and the Automatic detect option detects the OS without problem. When the installation starts I got an error: Unable to retrieve http://192.168.1.104/inst/images/install.img I tried different path but I always get the same error. The host machine is a Centos 6.2 (2.6.32.-220.el6.x86_64) I really appreciate any help with this problem. Thanks in advance,

Building CentOS 6.2 custom install media

Hi, For the OLPC school server ("XS") we are planning to move from our dated F9 setup to CentOS 6.2. Thanks for all the effort involved in producing this distro. One important part of this project is a 'respin' of the install media - we need to add a handful of packages from external repositories, and maybe run a command late in the install. Are the scripts/configurations used to produce the CentOS official CD/DVDs available? I guess this would be our most reliable/sensible starting point. I am familiar with pungi, kickstart, anaconda, etc, so just a simple git link would be enough to get me started. Thanks, Daniel

Virtual Machine Manager error

IE 9 not sending digest auth info

I migrated our internal wiki server last week, and some IE users aren't able to authenticate. The service is hosted by Apache using Digest authentication. It migrated from Apache 2.2.9 (Debian 5) to Apache 2.2.15 (CentOS 6). The internal hostname for the wiki server is a DNS CNAME that was repointed from one host to another during the cutover. In a normal session, 1. Client sends GET 2. Server sends 401 with WWW-Authenticate header 3. Client sends GET with Authorization header 4. Server sends 200 with Authentication-Info header and page content When using IE 9 (and possibly 8, I'm still trying to track that down), 1. Client sends GET 2. Server sends 401 with WWW-Authenticate header 3. Client resends GET (*without* Authorization header) 4. Server sends 401 with WWW-Authenticate header 5. Etc. IE seems to be ignoring 401 and/or the WWW-Authenticate headers. Using Chrome on Windows works fine; the issues are specific to IE. Any ideas? 3TB usb drive won't mount

Hi list! I have a 3TB usb drive with an NTFS filesystem on it, that I can't mount.: [bent@bnlaptop ~]$ sudo /sbin/mount.ntfs-3g /dev/sdb1 /mnt Failed to read vcn 0xf28: Input/output error Failed to mount '/dev/sdb1': Input/output error NTFS is either inconsistent, or there is a hardware fault, or it's a SoftRAID/FakeRAID hardware. In the first case run chkdsk /f on Windows then reboot into Windows twice. The usage of the /f parameter is very important! If the device is a SoftRAID/FakeRAID then first activate it and mount a different device under the /dev/mapper/ directory, (e.g. /dev/mapper/nvidia_eahaabcc1). Please see the 'dmraid' documentation for more details. On a Win7 machine there are no problems and chkdsk can't find anything wrong with the filesystem. I can mount 1TB drives using ntfs-3g without problems, so the driver doesn't seem to be the issue. I've tried both CentOS6.2 and Fedora16 with the same result. A desktop Centos remix

Hello Centos users! I'm doing a Centos 6 desktop oriented remix called Stella. This has been brewing since the summer and it's starting to get ready. :-) I've backported a lot of packages from Fedora and Rpmfusion and I bundle several other repos, too, resulting in a big range of software available, including but not limited to: LibreOffice, VLC, MPlayer, Shutter, Arista, Java, Flash, GParted, extra wifi drivers etc. You can read (just slightly) more about it here: http://li.nux.ro/stella. Maybe this came out wrong. What I meant is: I was told RHEL doesn't do major application upgrades in one version, so we would end op with Firefox 3.6.x in CentOs 6.x in a few years from now. I've been being told, over and over, by K3B, Brasero, and Isomaster, on two machines, with three different downloads of 6.0, that the file is too large for the medium. Nautilus and the browser that die each download all say it's 4.4 GB; I've tried with two +R and an RW DVD, all of which are labelled 4.7 GB Two of the files are 32-bit, and one is 64 What is going wrong?? -- Beartooth Staffwright, Not Quite Clueless Power User I have precious (very precious!) little idea where up is.
