Hello, I am trying to setup a node.js based website called 'hummingbird'. It's a monitoring package that you can read about here: http://projects.nuttnet.net/hummingbird/ My question is when I hit the site all I see is a directory listing http://107.21.183.42/hummingbird/ Similar to what would happen if you went to a php site without php being configured in apache with the lines LoadModule php5_module modules/libphp5.so AddHandler php5-script .php I've never actually setup a node.js based site before and I was wondering if there might be something I was missing. wins option in nsswitch.conf not working

I am trying to get BackupPC working with automount as documented in this CentOS HowTo: http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/BackupPC I think my CentOS6 box's NetBIOS name resolving is not working correctly as when I try to access the mount for Win7 machine called Parallels I get this: [root@au ~]# ls /windows ls: cannot access /windows/parallels: No such file or directory parallels [root@au ~]# cd /windows/parallels -bash: cd: /windows/parallels: No such file or directory and I cannot ping the Win7 machine with its NetBIOS name: [root@au ~]# ping parallels ping: unknown host parallels If I add "wins" at the end of the hosts section in /etc/nsswitch.conf the resolver seems to get "stuck" as after ping it just hangs (there is no output, I have to quit it with CTRL+C) smbclient seems to work though: [root@au ~]# smbclient -L parallels -U Administrator Enter Administrator's password: Domain=[PARALLELS] OS=[Windows 7 Professional 7601 Service Pack 1] Server=[Windows 7 Professional 6.1] Sharename Type Comment --------- ---- ------- ADMIN$ Disk Remote Admin C$ Disk Default share IPC$ IPC Remote IPC test Disk Domain=[PARALLELS] OS=[Windows 7 Professional 7601 Service Pack 1] Server=[Windows 7 Professional 6.1] Server Comment --------- ------- Workgroup Master --------- ------- Why does the "wins" option not work in nsswitch.conf? xeyes kills freenx session

I was trying an assortment of things to get a remote X session working (where I had forgotten to install the xauth package...) and noticed that running xeyes kills my freenx session. This happened whether in the NX/freenx session itself or when run on a remote machine via 'ssh -Y', started from a window in a freenx session. Is that a known problem or do I have something set up wrong? Other GUI programs that open their own windows seem to work, including jconsole which is what I really wanted to run in the first place. -- Les Mikesell lesmikesell(a)gmail.com

Install 6.2 via wireless

Folks I have a HP 8540w workstation, and just for kicks, I wanted to see if I could install Centos 6.2 using only the wireless connection, and the cd/dvd reader. I tried the "net-install" CD image, but it never found the wireless adaptor. How for up the chain must I go to succeed? Net-install (doesn-work) CD containing minimal DVD containing the full image? This effort was more than academic; one of my clients has a box that is connected only through wireless, and we need to do the install. Any advice you may have would be appreciated. David

KVM with 6.2 i686 guest

I just installed a KVM guest, centos 6.2 i686 (6.2 x86_64 host) and the network module is loaded . The modules is/are 8139too,8139cp is what lsmod shows. Dmesg shows link up but ifconfig does not give me an address? service network restart shows OK no errors but again no address. I set the ifcfg-eth0 file to not be NM controlled, onboot yes and rebooted. Same no address. I run 5.8 images all the time and they get the address? Did I forget something? Jerry

problems installing parted tool

i have downloaded the CentOS distribution that comes with Xen Cloud Platform (XCP) at http://www.xen.org/download/xcp/index.html. i am trying to install the parted utility. yum install parted however, i get the following message. Well, this is getting more and more unpleasant. Turned out my manager and the other admin were also working on this. One of the times they restarted *something*, or maybe my reinstall, took care of the first problem. Now, however, we're seeing a ton of exceptions... and what's struck me is that I'm *not* getting the normal output from sealert. For example, sealert -v -l 42f9d4f6-6327-4030-b927-d17ab9f4f0d6 2012-05-31 16:52:13,387 [plugin.INFO] importing /usr/share/setroubleshoot/plugins/__init__ as plugins SELinux is preventing /bin/chmod from using the fowner capability. I used the -v to try to get more; I'm not seeing the screenful that usually has more useful info. Could something have been screwed up with selinux, in some way? I know that the other admin installed something, but that was via a ruby-on-rails utility, and shouldn't have looked at anything, much less modified anything.... mark
