Odd problems with CR updates

As I've seen no mention of this anywhere, I've got to assume it's just me. Doing some of the CR updates last night, google-chrome and firefox suddenly stopped working with https pages, including google itself. I was able to downgrade, but wasn't sure exactly what had caused the problem. Tonight, trying again, package by package, it seems that it's nss-softokn that's causing the problem. Has anyone run into something similar? For example, if I upgrade to the CR version, then open chromium and type a search phrase, I'll get message that this web page not available. Firefox is somewhat more informative, ---------- An error occurred during a connection to www.google.com. security library: invalid algorithm. (Error code: sec_error_invalid_algorithm) The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because the authenticity of the received data could not be verified. Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem. Alternatively, use the command found in the help menu to report this broken site. -------- This happens when I upgrade to nss-softokn.3.14.3-9.el6 When I downgrade to 3.14.3-3.el6_4 it's fine. Linux alternative to MS OneNote

Have been looking for an alternative to OneNote which will run on CentOS. I've looked at Evernote, but it's support for Linux is emerging (supports Android, but not other flavors yet). I've looked at nixnote, but it looks as though I might have to make from source. I can do that, but would prefer to find something in the standard CentOS repositories. None of the other recommendations I've found out on the net show up in any 'yum list recommended-tool' runs. Most seem to recommend getting an MS Live account and accessing OneNote in the MS cloud with a browser. I suppose I could do that, but would prefer my data stay on my CentOS box. Any recommendations here? Dave M

Finally.... CentOS on iMac core 2

I've been trying several combinations of OSX, CentOS to try and get CentOS installed on an old iMac. I finally first installed OS X, then installed CentOS in the open space after OS X. With refit installed and selecting CentOS, it starts booting but get a screen that a boot device can't e found. So I then install Xubuntu with the option to replace OS X. After Xbuntu is installed and then do a reboot the grub screen comes up and I can now select CentOS and it will boot. Can someone explain why this is? I can't just install CentOS on the whole disk, as I get the blinking mac disk with question mark. Thanks, -wes

64bit centos and wine

Hello everyone. Has anybody ever tried to install 32bit wine to 64bit centos. I was able to run 64 bit wine, but some of mine application require 32 bit wine, but I cannot install it. It says to install 32bit development libraries at first. Does it make sense, what I'm doing ? I will be really appreciated any help. Cheers Igor

Automated LSI card management.

Hello, I am trying to come up with a way to auto add new servers deployed with LSI raid cards to the MegaRaid Software management server. From the gui, it looks like I can add them by IP manually, or have the control server scan for hosts with the MegaRaid client software, which only works if the host is on the same network. Story of an email

I'm running postfix + dovecot on my CentOS server, together with amavisd, clamd and spamassassin, following the instructions in <http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/postfix>. As far as I can see it is all working, but I must admit I'm not clear exactly what path an incoming email travels along. I asked this question before, and someone suggested a document I should read, but unfortunately I've mislaid the note I made at the time. centos at windows network

Hello everyone. When I try to view the windows network which I connected, the error "unable to mount share list from server" pops up. Once I tuned my firewall off, everything works fine. Does anyone know how to configure iptables in order to don't disable them. Unless you are just running some home server or something the general idea of servers is to provide uptime. Servers usually start dying after about 3 to 6 years* and, if you are trying to provide uptime, searching around on ebay for someone that has a PATA hard drive, DDR memory or some ancient pcix controller will severely dent this objective. I agree that its a shame that so much of this ends up in landfill. The fact that chassis are not normally immediately reusable is a tragedy in my eyes but running old, junk equipment is even more of a tragedy when it breaks and people are relying on it. *I work a lot in HPC where servers are hammered to death. Old hardware, newer kernels

I have an old server (old hardware) that's been running 6.4 with kernel 2.6.32-279.19.1.el6.i686, no problem. Except, any kernel update after that causes it not to boot anymore. All I get is a blinking cursor on the screen, nothing else. Is this the end of this hardware, no more kernel updates after this?
