duplicate packages on connection reset

Hi! I have a small problem with some packages : i was doing an update over ssh and my connection was interrupted .. now i have a lots of duplicates and if i try to remove them, yum tries to uninstall all system (447 packages 1.4 gb)!! Any idea how can i clean this mess? would be pretty bad if the machine needs to be re-installed only because the connection went bad during the process... Thanks for any info!! Adrian

Hey, I have a new laptop for which CentOS 6.5 says hardware not supported, but it still seems to work. So I was happy to hear about the beta and naively planning to wait until 7.0 to install it... But, seeing that RHEL 6 beta->stable took around 6 months, and add to that the CentOS hard work... Do you think we are talking about an autumn 2014 release? Thx, JD

What is eating up Swap

Hi, recently I noticed, that one of our webservers is using swap space, while there is plenty of physical ram available. free -m total used free shared buffers cached Mem: 8118 2014 6103 0 85 261 -/+ buffers/cache: 1667 6450 Swap: 8197 77 8119 It's not that much, but why? Any ideas how to debug that? MySQL stale socket

While I wait for the supplier to change the PS, I am facing an issue with MySQL. When the system comes back on, mysqld script starts the daemon, but the connections via /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock don't work because MySQL doesn't delete and recreate the stale socket. Apart from editing /etc/init.d/mysqld to force the deletion of a stale socket are there any other way to solve this issue? Thank you un advance. Linux alternative to MS OneNote

Have been looking for an alternative to OneNote which will run on CentOS. I've looked at Evernote, but it's support for Linux is emerging (supports Android, but not other flavors yet). I've looked at nixnote, but it looks as though I might have to make from source. I can do that, but would prefer to find something in the standard CentOS repositories. None of the other recommendations I've found out on the net show up in any 'yum list recommended-tool' runs. Most seem to recommend getting an MS Live account and accessing OneNote in the MS cloud with a browser. I suppose I could do that, but would prefer my data stay on my CentOS box. Any recommendations here? Dave M
