skype not starting anymore, prelink issue?

Hello there! I was running skype 4.1.0.20 on my 64-bit laptop for weeks (installed in /opt, from an official skype binary archive, plus few 32-bit stuff to get it working), when suddenly it stopped working, no way to start it: $ skype Fatal: QWidget: Must construct a QApplication before a QPaintDevice Aborted A quick search on the Internet brought some possible solution, basically configuring prelink to skip skype binary, uninstall skype, reinstall it. I was doubtful about uninstall/reinstall step since I didn't install it using a RPM but from a binary archive. Anyway I did it, restarted even the computer. No way to start skype. For now I'm stuck w/ an former staticQT 4.0.0.8 version of skype, which has no support for MSN accounts. Please note that I'm not using skype+msn because I want, but because I need to (@work). Did anybody ever solve this issue or has a clue about how to do it? Regards, -- wwp

Python 3.3 for CentOS-6

Hello, I've built python3-3.3 binary rpms based on the current Fedora packages. Binary rpms are built with koji/mock. Binary rpms are only tested very lightly, but I welcome additional tests or patches as well as additional python3 rpms people want to use: http://jur-linux.org/download/el-updates/6/ Has anyone a Django15 rpm using python3? greetings, Florian La Roche

X forwarding

How does one use X forwarding properly? I got a server running CentOS 6.3 at runlevel 3 (no DE installed) I try to access virt-manager via x-forwarding from another CentOS 6.3 client in my network (runlevel 5 with default gnome) on The server i changed my sshd_config: X11Forwarding yes i installed xauth on both of the machines. Anything else there is to do? When i try to: ssh -X root@server virt-manager I still get the following error message: RuntimeError: could not open display Which is in fact a message i get with every graphical programm i try to run through that. So I guess it's an error in my ssh configuration. Any tips?

Dell unofficial community repository - what do you think?

Hi all. I am currently gathering information about firmware update on Dell PowerEdge machines. I've found http://linux.dell.com/wiki/index.php/Firmware-tools_announcement and https://linux.dell.com/repo/community/ It is an unofficial, community supported repository. What are your experiences: should I perform firmware updates the traditional way by downloading *.bin packages from Dell and run them manually or should I use this repo? Is this repo "safe" and releases stable packages? Best regards, Rafal Radecki.

Hello, In updates, there are new packages of abrt and libreport. But yum update gives me: Error: Package: abrt-2.0.8-6.el6.centos.2.x86_64 (updates) Requires: libreport >= 2.0.9-5.el6_3.2 Removing: libreport-2.0.9-5.el6.centos.x86_64 (@base) libreport = 2.0.9-5.el6.centos Updated By: libreport-2.0.9-5.el6.centos.2.x86_64 (updates) libreport = 2.0.9-5.el6.centos.2 You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem You could try running: rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest Is the new libreport incorrectly named libreport-2.0.9-5.el6.centos.2.x86_64 instead of: libreport-2.0.9-5.el6.2.x86_64 or is the dependency of abrt incorrect? How to extract one file from rpm using yum?

I want to get the original version of /etc/clamd.d/amavis.conf from the amavisd-new rpm to get the defaults to submit a bug report. I could not figure out how to do this, so I did a reinstall, but it did not replace this file (whatprovides says it comes from this rpm). Is there a way to extract just the one file, and better yet, place it elsewhere than its regular destination? thanks
