What I mean by "supported" is a company who will see the host OS is CentOS and not throw up their hands and say "sorry, not supported!". My fear is that, a year from now, something will go wrong and the company we choose won't help us. We're not a backup company and we have no interest in becoming one, either. So we want to find a company to partner with who will see "CentOS" and still help us. So in short, this is a political, not technical question. cifs mount desktop icon

Hi, I am mounting a Windows share on /media/%(USER)/mountpoint via pam_mount and I would like to show the volume desktop icon for every user logged in. The thing is that it works only for the first user that gets logged, when another user logs in, the desktop icon is missing, but the share mount works just fine if you navigate through the /media directory. The share is the same for all the users, but each user mounts it with its own privileges. Could it be something related to the name of the share being the same each time? Is there a way to fix it? CentOS 6-6.3 -> no updates and security fixes?

Hi All. I've found: This directory (and version of CentOS) is depreciated. For normal users, you should use /6/ and not /6.3/ in your path. Please see this FAQ concerning the CentOS release scheme: http://www.centos.org/modules/smartfaq/faq.php?faqid=34 If you know what you are doing, and absolutely want to remain at the 6.3 level, go to http://vault.centos.org/ for packages. Please keep in mind that 6.0, 6.1, 6.2 and 6.3 no longer gets any updates, nor any security fix's. in http://eu-msync.centos.org/centos-6/6.3/readme Is CentOS 6-6.3 really not updated anymore? Supermicro & Boot Failures with DVD Centos 6.2

Eve.8ryone, I have had a SuperMicro machine running Centos 5.8 that had been progressively updated with yum-cron from a 5.0 CD install. I upgraded the SuperMicro with more memory, switched out the CD with a DVD and tried to boot to the Centos x64 6.2 dvd. My plan was to test the memory before I added the hard drives, but I could not I could not get the machine to boot from the disc. I also tried some Fedora install discs as well as LiveFedora and the machine would still not boot. I could get it to boot with a dreaded Microsoft install disc. We also updated the bios with the latest version and this did not make a difference. We have not tried to use these disks with the hard drives installed yet because we were in the process of just testing the memory. Has anyone had this problem with SuperMicro's. Is the problem as simple as a requirement to have a hard disc installed. Your help would be appreciated. Thank you, Greg Ennis

Trying to justify CentOS vs. RHEL

Hi all, I'm in the process of moving all of my RHEL systems over to CentOS but the argument that fires back at me is for critical vulnerabilities for items such as zero-day exploits and such. >From what I've been reading, RHEL releases critical patches much quicker than CentOS which makes sense since CentOS is simply a copy and when changes occur they propagate down to the RHEL clones. My question is what kind of time frame are we looking at when a vulnerability (critical or high) is announced and a patch has been released for RHEL does it get implemented into CentOS? Thanks!
