CentOS 6.6: Lost connection to tape library

Hello, After updating to 6.6 I've lost my connection to my tape library. Update from 6.5 to 6.6 breaks epel qt5

Just a heads up, if anyone is doing QT development with the EPEL RPMs, the update from RHEL 6.5 to 6.6 breaks the current qt5 RPMS. In fact, I had to uninstall qt5 to perform the update. I've submitted a bug report upstream, so hopefully it'll get resolved before too much longer. "No free sectors available" while try to extend logical volumen in a virtual machine running CentOS 6.5

The first error I see at console is this /dev/root: read failed after 0 of 4096 at 27522957312: Input/output error /dev/root: read failed after 0 of 4096 at 27523014656: Input/output error Couldn't find device with uuid vSbuSJ-o1Kh-N3ur-JYkM-Ktr4-WEO2-JWe2wS. Cannot change VG vg_devserver while PVs are missing. Consider vgreduce --removemissing. Then following the suggestion from the previous command results I run this other command vgreduce --removemissing vg_devserver but again got this error: WARNING: Partial LV lv_root needs to be repaired or removed. There are still partial LVs in VG vg_devserver. To remove them unconditionally use: vgreduce --removemissing --force. Proceeding to remove empty missing PVs. so I change the command to the one suggested but once again another message Removing partial LV lv_root. Logical volume vg_devserver/lv_root contains a filesystem in use. so at this point I don't know what else to do,can any give me some ideas or help? Don't kill me if is something basic I'm not a Linux Admin or a Linux Advanced User just a developer trying to setup their development environment. How I can get this done? What I'm doing wrong? Getting SATA Controller working

I have an SIIG SC-SA4011 (V1.0) SATA controller that doesn't appear to come up. The system has CentOS 6.5 installed on it, and everything on it works, except for this one controller - the other SATA controller, a RocketRAID 1640 works fine. lspci lists the offending controller: $> lspci [... snip ...] 04:01.0 Mass storage controller: Silicon Image, Inc. Is there a kernel available that doesn't have kernel module signing enabled?

I'm developing a driver on Centos 7: # uname -a && cat /etc/redhat-release Linux czlab04.coveloz.local 3.10.0-123.8.1.el7.x86_64 #1 SMP Mon Sep 22 19:06:58 UTC 2014 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux CentOS Linux release 7.0.1406 (Core) When I install my module it's 'tainting' the kernel. Rather than rebuilding the kernel, is there a package that has the kernel available without the module signing enabled? - Jamie

Booting using another kernel

Hi Guys, I am encountering this bug: https://bugs.centos.org/view.php?id=7656 I put in the CentOS 7 DVD and it starts to install and hangs with starting x. The suggestion was made in the bug report to boot using the 'kernel-ml' and to be honest I don't know how to do that. I build a machine that has 4 video cards in it. (2 x nVidia Geforce GT 970 and 2 x Sapphire Toxic R9 270x). Can anyone give me a hand? Jason

Upgrading to CentOS-7 on a new partition

I would like to upgrade a CentOS-6.5 home server to CentOS-7 on a new partition. What is the simplest way to achieve this? I would like to be able to boot into either version of CentOS until I am sure the new version is running OK. tinydns exceeds "holdoff time" on startup under CentOS 7

Hello listmates, Somehow or other my DNS services that are part of the ndjbdns-1.06-1.el7.x86_64 package would not start properly at startup. When I then start them up using systemctl: systemctl start dnscache systemctl start tinydns they start just fine. >From the log I got the following for tinydns: Oct 24 15:01:43 ns99 tinydns[1867]: tinydns: version 1.06: starting: Oct-24 2014 15:01:43 EDT Oct 24 15:01:43 ns99 tinydns[1867]: tinydns: DEBUG_LEVEL set to `1' Oct 24 15:01:43 ns99 tinydns[1867]: tinydns: DATALIMIT set to `300000' bytes Oct 24 15:01:43 ns99 tinydns[1867]: tinydns: could not bind UDP socket Oct 24 15:01:43 ns99 systemd[1]: tinydns.service holdoff time over, scheduling restart. Any idea why that would happen? Any idea how to increase the holdoff time in the configuration? The config for the service looks as follows: [root@ns99 etc]# more /usr/lib/systemd/system/tinydns.service [Unit] Description=A DNS server daemon Documentation=man:tinydns(8) Requires=network.target After=network.target [Service] Restart=always PIDFile=/var/run/tinydns.pid ExecStart=/usr/sbin/tinydns [Install] WantedBy=multi-user.target [root@ns99 etc]# I can't possibly spot anything wrong there.
