How to create a secondary btrfs mirror from the CentOS 7 installer?

I just ran through an EL7 install where I wanted to use a lone SATA disk (sda) formatted with xfs for the system drive, then add a pair of SATA disks (sdb, sdc) as a btrfs mirror, mounted at startup on the new system. I couldn’t manage to do this. The installer seems to think that if I want btrfs, I want it for the system drive, too. Is there no way to do one thing for the system drive, then another for the data mirror, all from within the installer? I realize I can set up the data mirror separately after installation. (I did in fact do this.) I was just hoping to be able to be able to document a simple process that a semi-technical user can use to do the whole thing from the installer GUI. In the past, we got around this by using hardware RAID cards, since they would present as a different hardware volume (/dev/sdb) to the installer, so you only had to turn off LVM to get it to do the right thing. Now that btrfs is a supported filesystem in the installer, I was hoping to do away with RAID cards, at least for the systems that only need a pair of disks in RAID-1. (We’ll still use RAID cards for the larger RAID-6 boxes.)

older distro have newer package in base repo

Just wondering why in EL5's base repo the latest supported mysql package is 5.5 and in EL6's base repo it is 5.1? Seems strange to me. (it is clear that the SCL of EL6 has version 5.5 but that implies a different update policy). -- LF

dovecot question

I am having problems with the dovecot list. Haven't seen any messages from them for a few days, and a message I sent them today is not showing in their archives, so I come here to see if anyone here might know.... New mailserver and the first time I am using dovecot. Previously I used courier-mail. My config is moving all tagged spam into the IMAP spam folder. Very nice for the IMAP users, but not for the POP users. Of course the server don't know, and the mysql database for users does not have any flags for this. Don't want my server to fill up with spam from POP users that don't know to check via IMAP. Thunderbird makes it hard to switch from POP to IMAP. So is anyone here using dovecot? Have they noticed this? How do you handle it?

[OT] Lexmark T632 info sought

We have a bunch of old Lexmark T63x printers connected to our LAN. These are accessed via IPP from our CentOS hosts and via TCP for our MicroSoft work stations. Both connections have worked without problems for years. This past week one of the T632s was replaced and since that time we cannot get either IPP or TCP to work with it from our CentOS hosts. It continues to work for the Windows domain workstations. I have verified the settings, both printer and network, and everything seems to match the settings of the original printer. Nonetheless when the printer is enabled we get an IPP failure as soon as we send any job to it. The only thing that I can detect that is different is the printer firmware. All of the machines that work have this: Printer Revision Levels: Loader 551.019-0 Base 551.019-0 Network 551.087-0 Engine E551.413 -0 Panel 7.02 Font 8.10H02-U4.0 Tray 2 10.18-5 Duplex 23.11-7 The one that fails has this: Printer Revision Levels: Loader 551.019-0 Basic Kernel E_YD.014-0 Kernel E_YD.014-0 Base 551.019-0 Network 551.019-0 Engine E551.421-0 Panel 7.02 Font 8.10H02-U4.0 Tray 2 10.18-5 I have no idea what a Basic Kernel on a Lexmark T632 is. Back to puias' 2011.4.12-5.puias6 and it works again. Such issue observed on several CentOS systems, while upgrading to 6.6. Did I miss something? Well, in part we will see if you get this and I get the return. I JUST launched my new mail server after a few miscues. Actually the OS is Redsleeve6, which is the arm port of Centos 6, and perhaps some of my problems may come down to porting problems. But first, it may be that despite my testing, I missed something in the configurations.
