firefox problem with redirects on centos 5

I'm having a peculiar problem with Firefox only on my Centos 5 desktop. Every time I try a link from a search engine and even when I type in a location, I get a redirect error: "The page isn't redirecting properly. "Firefox has detected that the server is redirecting the request for this address in a way that will never complete." However, any link in my bookmarks works, as do a couple of remote IPs I have in /etc/hosts. (Does places.sqlite store IP numbers? ) All the machines use the router for DNS, and the router goes to OpenDNS. This problem *only* affects Firefox, and only on the one Centos 5 machine. I have Centos 6 machines, Macs and Androids on the LAN.. Firefox works fine everywhere else. On the Centos 5 box, Opera works fine. Any suggestions?

lock down gnome-screensaver

Hello All, I'm trying to set defaults for gnome-screensaver on some Centos6.5 laptops and lock it down with these commands: # gconftool-2 --direct --config-source xml:readwrite:/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.mandatory --type boolean --set /apps/gnome-screensaver/lock_enabled true # gconftool-2 --direct --config-source xml:readwrite:/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.mandatory --type boolean --set /apps/gnome-screensaver/idle_activation_enabled true # gconftool-2 --direct --config-source xml:readwrite:/etc/gconf/gconf.xml.mandatory --type int --set /apps/gnome-screensaver/idle_delay 20 The first two commands work, in the screensaver-preferences window, these settings get grayed-out. But the idle_delay 20 command does not work, users can still change the setting to let's say 1 minute. Does anybody know how to do this? Hey CentOS folks! I have an interesting issue with starting a server on a CentOS 6 KVM guest. The server (service) in particular is gotour, which is a web application created by Google and their Golang developers, intended to teach users the basics of using the Go programming langauge. When starting gotour, the program claims to be binding to port 12049, but the VM doesn't seem to be serving anything on that port. Upon checking the netstat output, I see a process bound to port 12049. It is definitley possible that the problem is with Go itself, but I'd like to rule out the possibility that something on an out-of-the-box CentOS 6 image might be preventing the server from working.
