Botched kernel update

I have a 6.5 box that failed to boot after a kernel update. The reason is the first arg on the kernel line: title CentOS (2.6.32-431.11.2.el6.x86_64) root (hd0,0) kernel /tboot.gz ro root=/dev/mapper/vol0-lvol1 intel_iommu=on rd_NO_LUKS LANG=en_US.UTF-8 rd_NO_MD SYSFONT=latarcyrheb-sun16 crashkernel=auto rd_NO_DM KEYBOARDTYPE=pc KEYTABLE=us rd_LVM_LV=vol0/lv ol3 rd_LVM_LV=vol0/lvol1 rhgb quiet logging=vga,serial,memory module /vmlinuz-2.6.32-431.11.2.el6.x86_64 root=/dev/mapper/vol0-lvol1 crashkernel=auto SYSFONT=latarcyrheb-sun16 LANG=en_US.UTF-8 KEYTABLE=us module /initramfs-2.6.32-431.11.2.el6.x86_64.img There is no such file /tboot.gz. This machine doesn't have tboot installed. I removed the kernel and reinstalled it, yet the grub entry was recreated as above. Digging deeper, I found this in /etc/sysconfig/kernel: # HYPERVISOR specifies the default multiboot kernel HYPERVISOR=/boot/tboot.gz HYPERVISOR_ARGS=logging=vga,serial,memory Removing these lines results in a working grub.conf when the kernel is reinstalled. The question is now: what placed these entries there? It's not tboot, I checked the srpm.

HeartBleed in RHEL

I know I'm slightly OT here, asking about RHEL, but since Centos is now a part of RH, I'm hoping I won't be summarily ejected. I've seen several articles that listed Centos 6.x as vulnerable, but DID NOT LIST RHEL 6. I'd think that if Centos 6.x is vulnerable, then so would RHEL 6.x, since Centos is made from RHEL sources. Hi, I'm currently using Flash Player 11,2,202,346. The most recent version is 11.2.202.350. The package is from rpmforge. When will be there an update? - Chris

Death of dyndns

btrfs in centos 6

I played with btrfs in centos 6.3 and it seemed to mostly work. Now I'm building some new systems with 6.5, where I'd like to have some data disks using btrfs - not the system disk. I can create and fiddle with btrfs filesystems just fine, but attempting to mount them produces an oops. Surfing the Internets has not enlightened me. I installed btrfs-progs, and can modprobe btrfs, no problem. This warning appears: [root@h-248-254 ~]# btrfsck /dev/sdb failed to open /dev/btrfs-control skipping device registration Which I see I can fix with [root@h-248-254 ~]# mknod /dev/btrfs-control c 10 234 [root@h-248-254 ~]# btrfsck /dev/sdb checking extents ... which makes me think that I'm missing some udev rules? And then for the mount oops I only have a photo, but the call chain is ... bad_area __do_page_fault call_rcu_sched call_rcu do_page_fault page_fault selinux_set_mnt_opts superblock_doinit deactiviate_locked_super selinux_sb_kern_mount security_sb_kern_mount vfs_kern_mount do_kern_mount I'm not 100% sure this hardware is OK ... but I can do lots of stuff with the btrfs progs and never see any problems. Can anyone who has this working give me a clue? Thanks. -- greg

biosdevname

Hello, Anybody else run into problems with biosdevname .0.5..0-2 changing names from p2p1 to em1 when upgrading from biosdevname 0.4.1-3? Darn!
