Query regarding grub.conf in centos 6.5 iso

Hello Greetings, I am trying to customize centos 6.5 iso and have few questions. I can't get the significance of grub.conf inside the isolinux folder. I thought it would be used by anaconda to generate /etc/grub.conf. But it seems that is not the case. I tried to make some changes to it, which haven't had any effect in /etc/grub.conf. So, may I ask what is the usage of that grub.conf in the iso? And how can I alter the /etc/grub.conf that is getting generated by anaconda ( I don't want to manually edit it, but I want to add some extra configurations to it as part of installation) Kindly correct me if I have misunderstood anything. SOLVED: Centos 7: printing four copies with Libreoffice prints garbage

After much head scratching and throwing most of a ream of paper into the trash, I just found and solved the problem. Thinking that perhaps I have a cable issue, I was re-seating the usb cable that connects my Xerox Phaser 3250 printer to the computer and realized that the printer was plugged into a USB 3.0 port on my computer. When I moved it to a USB 2.0 port, the printer immediately started working properly using the Xerox Phaser 3150 driver that comes with cups, just like it always did under Centos 6. The computer must have been pushing data to the printer too quickly over the USB 3.0 port; the printer got a garbled postscript instruction and everything went downhill from there. Now I'm pretty happy -- my printer works again. I've taped a note to the printer to be damn sure that I remember to always plug it into a USB 2.0 port in the future. -- MELVILLE THEATRE ~ Real D 3D Digital Cinema ~ www.melvilletheatre.com

Hi, Is using Red Hat site for documentation legal? If I understand correctly you have to be a customer of Red Hat to be allowed to use their bandwidth: https://access.redhat.com/help/terms/ "2. But if someone is a Red Hat customer, he can legally access the site, fetch the documentation and redistribute it to everyone. CentOS6: sound prefs, how to limit output volume to the un-amplified range?

Hello there, recently installed CentOS6 on a (quite old) 64-bit system, and from the GNOME's sound preference app, I can see that the Output volume range is said "amplified" from 63% to 100%. Below 63% it's unamplified. No idea what's implied behind this amplification (I don't see this on other desktops), but I notice that when "amplified" the sound is pretty bad (at 100% and above, it's ridiculously bad). Below 63% it's simply very good and from far, loud enough. I wonder if there's a way to make the amplified range (63-100+) inaccessible? It makes no sense to me to allow the amplified range if it sounds bad (tested with different external speakers). lspci says, about the device: 00:14.5 Multimedia audio controller: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. Hi all, I want to compile the source code of Advanced Programming in the Unix Environment(APUE) 3rd edition, and I encountered some difficulties. Hello again.. you can use the Subnet IP to 192.168.0 and Mask to 255.255.255.0 into the NAT setting of Virtual Network Editor provided by vmware. CentOS 6 and android connectivity (Nook)

So, I got my wife a Nook for her b'day. I just plugged it into my system, CentOS 6.5, and what I see is /media/NOOK, and it shows 257k or so - yes, k, not m or g. It's *not* seeing any directories, etc, and the small thing I'm guessing is firmware, since even when I try mount -o remount -rw, it is still r/o. Googling, I see mentions of fsmtp, I think it was, and yum shows some mtp libs, but I don't see anything that looks like a driver. Any suggestions (otherwise, I need to zip up the ebooks we want on her Nook, and take them downstairs to her's and the kid's system, Lose 8, er, Win8. I really need to solve this today - we're leaving shortly on vacation.... Thanks in advance. mark

Hi all, I find that in my CentOS, which is installed in vmware, I can use yum to install software from Internet, and I can also ping websites, but I cannot download stuff using wget. I receive error msg unable to resolve host address “xxxxx”. The IP address is 192.168.80.128, and this is the content of /etc/resolv.conf # Generated by NetworkManager domain localdomain search localdomain nameserver 192.168.80.2 I'd appreciate your help.
