Bash package for CentOS5

Hi! I have noticed, that our mirror has this package bash-3.2-33.el5_11.4.x86_64.rpm, but a lot of other mirror still have bash-3.2-33.el5_10.4.x86_64.rpm. Since bash-3.2-33.el5_11.4.x86_64.rpm was issued on 26-Sep-2014 04:28, could this be the product of slower mirror update cycles? 2.5" to 3.5" Conversion Tray

Anyone know of a 2.5" to 3.5" converter so I can put a 2.5 SSD drive in a Supermicro 3.5 SATA hot swap bay? The one I purchased does not seem to work.

Help on setting up a samba domain controller

My current samba domain controller is running ClearOS. But I am migrating to ARM servers (cubieboards) and using RedSleeve for now, and Centos7arm when that gets rolling. The driver is power savings; my ROI just on power is ~15months. So I only run an NT style Domain Controller with XP clients and roaming user profiles. It works, as there are only a few systems here are really just my wife and I. But it is nice for my wife to hop on a laptop at the dinning table and get her same desktop as she has on the den computer. So copying the basic Samba files is rather simple, it seems, but then there is the LDAP setup and the add machine and user scripts. So it gets complex rather quickly. I looked over on the Centos Wiki and did not find any help there, but my search foo has always been weak. So is there a howto I can use to get off the 'everything (and more than I want) done for me' bandwagon and build the basics myself? I figure I can deal with dnsmasq, even though I am a bind kind of guy; the configs look simple. But there is probably a dyndns piece lurking somewhere. NTP I have always done myself. I have even hacked a bit at basic Samba to maintain per user logins. But the ldap will definitely be a new experience... thanks for any pointers (that help me :) ).

Apache wakes-up inactive Exim

Had a surprising event on C 6.5. Exim was the only MTA installed. It was partially configured (with ACL, Router, Transport) and definitely not running. I was remotely testing a web page. A web page error condition invoked the embedded PHP mail() command. To my astonishment something in Centos woke-up Exim. Exim sent the email and then became inactive again. The Exim logs does not show any start-up lines, just 1. input from Apache. 2. output to remote server. 3. 'completed'. Hours later Logwatch, not yet customised, also caused inactive Exim to send an email (which got rejected by Exim because it was to local user 0). What causes Centos to temporarily activate in-active (meaning non-running) Exim ? Thanks, Paul. England EU.

RPM install/upgrade problem

Hi, For the last few updates I'm having a yum problem. # yum update gives the following error for e.g. Running transaction Updating : bash-4.2.45-5.el7_0.2.x86_64 1/10 Error unpacking rpm package bash-4.2.45-5.el7_0.2.x86_64 error: unpacking of archive failed on file /usr/bin/alias;5423b9bc: cpio: open The same problem happens if I try to use rpm for the update so it appears to be an rpm problem rather than a yum one. I've rebuilt the rpm databases successfully but tthe problem persists. I just updated firefox, here at home... and when I fired it back up, *all* of my tabs were gone. Every one (all couple dozen...) mark, CentOS 6.5

C6 : AIDE experience

Having problems with Tripwire on C6, I installed AIDE from the base repository. x86_64 0.14-3.el6_2.2 base 123 k typing: aide result: "Couldn't open file /var/lib/aide/aide.db.gz for reading" (directory is empty and aide.db.gz does not exist.) typing: aide -i (for initialise the Aide database) result: "AIDE, version 0.14 ### AIDE database at /var/lib/aide/aide.db.new.gz initialized." (size 10 bytes) typing: aide result: "Couldn't open file /var/lib/aide/aide.db.gz for reading" typing: aide --init (for the second time) result: "AIDE, version 0.14 ### AIDE database at /var/lib/aide/aide.db.new.gz initialized." (now 2,225,108 bytes) typing: aide result: "Couldn't open file /var/lib/aide/aide.db.gz for reading" action: renaming aide.db.new.gz as aide.db.gz typing: aide result: (noticeable delay) "AIDE, version 0.14 ### All files match AIDE database. Looks okay!" (only 1 file in /var/lib/aide = aide.db.gz) typing: aide -u result: (noticeable delay) "AIDE, version 0.14 ### All files match AIDE database.
