This has been the case for as long as I can recall whether it is package updating or running virt-manager. However, this thread from 2009 might provide some guidance on getting around that. I have not followed it so it might be a dead end. ** Newbie - HELP **

Hi ALL, Sorry for this if it is a stupid question, but: Is it possible to native boot centos from a VHD/VHDX file in a similar way to Windows 8.1? I am hoping to dual 'native' boot Windows 8.1 and CentOS; but then I want to Image the disk to deploy it to other classroom machines. Any help advice would be appreciated. I've had an unsuccessful play with easybcd's neogrub; and I have a working CentOS VM in Hyper-V - but it's the native boot I'm really interested in. Regards Darren

Chromium browser for C6

I found this bug fix report http://lwn.net/Articles/616130/ I thought we were not able to get Chromium for C6. Apparently it looks like the work has been already done. Is it possible we (hi Johnny) can get this package into C6? This would be a wonderful addition to CentOS 6. Please and thank you.

Reason for removing php-mcrypt from CentOS 6/7

Does anybody know why php-mcrypt was removed from the extras repo when CentOS 6 came out? I've been going through the archives and I saw plenty of people complain about it but no explanation for the reason. I know it's available in EPEL but I want to avoid third party repos if at all possible. If for some reason it became no longer advisable to use php-mcrypt in production then knowing that reason would be helpful.

SELinux permissions for apache

Hey all, I have a simple php app working that writes some info to a text file. The app will only work correctly if SELinux is disabled. If it's enabled and try to use the app, it fails. It seems that SELinux is denying the app ability to write to the text file. So I tried running the following command: chcon -R -t httpd_sys_content_t /var/www And tried veriying the command with the following: ls -RZ /var/www And everything seems to be in order. For example I see: -rw-r--r--. apache apache system_u:object_r:httpd_sys_content_t:s0 vieworders.php But the app stil won't function correctly unless SELinux is set to off. Then, and only then, the original problem videos would play when revisited. This is not much of an annoyance for me since watching YT is not very high on my list of things to do. Curiously, in many cases linking to a YT video though an outside website allows videos to play when directly accessing the same video from the YT site displays the symptoms reported above. I realise that Flash is post-consumer agricultural waste for the most part and that it is riddled with security flaws. And I realise that FF is 'not for the enterprise' to quote one of their official spokesmen and is regularly updated to block 'dangerous plugins' to prevent the children running FF from injuring themselves. But, I have staff that are reporting similar problems when trying to access training videos on other sites. Systems with more recent versions of FF fail to play while those people with older versions have no problem. Unfortunately we work in a regulatory regime that requires constant updating and the government contractors providing the updates tend to use Flash as their preferred platform, albeit not on YouTube so the html5 setting is not available in those cases. So, I need some way of overriding this 'fascist nannyism'. Is there a way to stop FF blocking Flash or do I revert to older versions of FF to regain the functionality? I am fairly confident that Canadian Government is not going to pay to have this material redone in OGG/OGV/OGX. -- *** E-Mail is NOT a SECURE channel *** James B. RE: building self from SRPM from Frank cox. Yes I agree, it's not horrible to do, but it's a manual step on every patch into the repos, I'm hoping more for maintenance reasons. For that matter I can compile from isc.org's source tarball :)
