consuming a high percentage of cpu

the kacpid proccess is consuming a high percentage of cpu. this makes my server it's slow how to solve this .......???? -- *Atte. SquidAnalyzer: minor trouble building RPM

Hi, I'm using the SquidAnalyzer network analysis tool in combination with Squid. Up until now, I've been running Slackware Linux on my servers. I built a custom package that installs SquidAnalyzer to /var/www/vhosts/squidreport/html. Then I setup an Apache virtual host for SquidAnalyzer's pages. Since I'm migrating my servers from Slackware to CentOS, I'd like to build a corresponding RPM package for SquidAnalyzer. I downloaded the sources here: http://squidanalyzer.darold.net/download.html Then I set up a local build environment as described in the CentOS wiki. The source tarball already contains a squidanalyzer.spec file in the packaging/RPM subdirectory. So I copied that spec file over to ~/rpmbuild/SPECS and the source tarball to ~/rpmbuild/SOURCES. The version information in the spec file is wrong, it indicates 6.2, but the version of SquidAnalyzer is 6.2-1. Unfortunately when I insert the correct version in the spec file, I get this: $ rpmbuild -ba --clean squidanalyzer.spec error: line 5: Illegal char '-' in: Version: 6.2-1 What can I do now? Running the Wine emulator on CentOS 7

Hi, Up until recently, I've been running Wine 1.6.2 on my workstation under Slackware64 14.1. I used it to emulate a handful of legacy apps that ran under Windows XP. They worked perfectly with that setup. After migrating the workstation from Slackware to CentOS 7, I installed the Wine packages, but none of my applications run. I only get an error message about "wrong EXE format". And that's it. Any idea what's going on? Hi Guys, i've CentOS 6.6 (Final) 64 bit version installed and I can not access the online repositories to install/update (pls see eror below the error), I tried to google this error I get a lot of links but nothing I could really solving this issue. I've already disabled ipv6 and also defined proxy in /etc/yum.conf. Questions about panel toolbars in CentOS7

Hi all, I have installed a CentOS7 vm with gnome3 desktop. All it is working ok but I have two questions about configuring gnome3 environment (classic mode): a) How can I add applications launchers in the top panel toolbar? b) How can I modify bottom toolbar to make it smaller?? Thanks

grsync for centos 7

Hello. I think it is just too easy to make mistakes with rsync. And getting it "almost correct" can really get you hurt. So I would like to learn with Grsync. But, Grsync does not seem to be in the centos 7 or EPEL 7 repositories (although it may have been around as late as centos 6). Is it now in any "reputable" repositories? If not, has anyone installed it from source code, and if so, did it work okay?

Centos 6 - disabling IPv6 addressing

I have just moved a host from a network that supports static IPv4 and IPv6. The IPv4 addr is set in ifcfg-eth0, and the IPv6 via RA (I set the MAC so I get an IPv6 addr that I like). I just moved the host to a network that supports static IPv4, but only dymanic IPv6, so at this time (until I get static IPv6), I need to disable the global IPv6 addressing. So in the ifcfg-eth0 file I set: IPV6INIT="no" But I am still getting a global IPv6 (and of course local scope). What else do I need to do to disable the listening for RA announcements and setting an IPv6 global address? I do not want to reboot the box. I can restart the network as needed. I seem to recall, once upon atime an option in /etc/sysconfig/network thanks

install latest gcc/g++ dev tools on centos

Guys, How can I install the latest version of gcc/g++ development tools on my centos ? I have version 4.1.* on the machine. Can I do above from yum ? I would be glad to read your responses to my questions Br Kunle
