xorg--x11-fonts-75dpi vs xorg-x11-fonts-100dpi

What is the difference between xorg-x11-fonts-75dpi and xorg-x11-fonts-100dpi? Under what circumstances would one want to use the 75dpi version versus the 100dpi version? If you have both installed, does the xorg server just pick the one that it considers best based on some criteria? Should you have both installed? Is anything gained by having both installed? Centos 7 confusion about Chinese input methods

I just tried my first Centos 7 install. I want to install input methods for Chinese. In the good old days, all I had to do was yum install a blob and I was done. Does anyone have a link or some hints that will help me? I did a search, but the hits just confuse me. thanks, Dave

Networking troubles on CentOS 7

Hi, I've been trying to get networking up and running on CentOS 7 in a VMWare (5.5) VM. From inside the machine (connected to console (GNOME desktop)) it looks like network is up. CentOS7 buggy freeradius

Bonjour, It seems that freeradius 3.0.1-6.el7 of centOS 7 don't work. When doing very simple authentification (PAP control of ssh login on a switch), I get a segmentation fault when the first accounting packet arrives on the server. Does anyone test succesfully this version of freeradius ? SELinux kills Cassandra based website

Hey all, There's a website I help run that uses the Cassandra DB as its database. I notice that if I run the web server in SELinux permissive mode, the site works fine. But if I put it into enforcing mode, the site goes down with this error: Warning: require_once(/McFrazier/PhpBinaryCql/CqlClient.php): failed to open stream: Permission denied in /var/www/jf-ref/includes/classes/class.CQL.php on line 2 Fatal error: require_once(): Failed opening required '/McFrazier/PhpBinaryCql/CqlClient.php' (include_path='.:/php/includes') in /var/www/jf-ref/includes/classes/class.CQL.php on line 2 I've tried performing a chcon -R command on both the /McFrazier and the /var/www/jf-ref directories. Gnome2 Desktop mute buttons for mic and video

CentOS-6.6 Does anyone know of an application that would provide a 'mute' buttons for video and audio that could be used from a desktop panel? Ideally this would show the status (muted/cloaked or open mic/recording) of each. Presently, turning audio and video pick-ups off and on is rather cumbersome. And I often forget what state I have left them in. Which occasionally makes for some confusing moments trying to debug a non-existent problem. My hardware is: CPU: Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU E3845 @ 1.91GHz and it supports EIST(Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology). OS: CentOS 7(kernel-3.10) When I set the BIOS options "CPU configuration >> EIST" to "enable", it appears a kernel panic when the system is starting up. Here is what I am seeing: ...... Fast TSC calibration failed. [Hardware Error] CPU 3: Machine Check Exception: 4 Bank 0: 9000000020000003 ...... Machine check: Invalid. Panic - not syncing. Fatal machine check on current CPU. Rebooting in 30 seconds. By reading the Intel-programming-manual, the MCE means: Machine Check Exception: 4 -- MCG_STATUS_MCIP Bank 0: 9000000020000003 -- 0x9000 -- 1001 0000 0000 0000 -- IA32_MCi_Status MSR register 0x0003 -- 0000 0000 0000 0011 -- External Error, The BINIT# from another processor caused this processor to enter machine check. and seems it is an external bus error. If I DISABLED the BIOS option "EIST", there will be no error or panic. If I change to CentOS 6.5/6.6(kernel 2.6), there will be no error or panic even when "EIST" is ON. So, it should be a bug in kernel source of CentOS 7(kernel-3.10). Ps: kernel source v3.10 from kernel.org is OK Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
