how to add service at boot up

Hi there, I am used to traditional update-rc.d et all. Now I wonder how to add a a script that used to called by init.d (wit start/sop ..) to the new "service start xx" regime. All the tutorials I found talk about how to use update-rc.d.. thanks robert

xfs fsck error metadata corruption

Hi, Everytime I restart Centos 7 I receive a error saying… metadata is corrupt and then I need to go through the process of mount and unmount the disk uuid then run xfs_repair {some uuid} or xfs_repair -L {some uuid} which ultimately corrupts even more. I’m running on a RAID 1 two identical drives this has happened more then once and had to reinstall. Any way I can prevent this when I shutdown or restart? This happens when I reboot the machine. Does the HD need to be completely zero wiped if I do a fresh install? Best, Steve

Hi, I'm trying to to use the centos 7 images provided by http://cloud.centos.org/, this works fine when using centos user to ssh in with keys, but I'm trying to create a new image base on it, so does it have default password I can use to login to the console, before I can configure the network setting inside. Services supporting Kerberos and/or TLS client certificate authentication

Hello, We're starting to use FreeIPA in house (which is awesome btw) which means that Kerberos and TLS client certificate authentication is suddenly quite easy. Im looking for a list of common Linux services with data on how one can Authenticate/Authorise for these services. * httpd support TLS client certificate authentication and Kerberos * rabbitmq supports TLS client certificate authentication * dovecot supports Kerberos and ... etc, etc Cheers, Andrew

Hi I install the CPOS-7-Installation-20141120-1.ISO on the AIX power 720 (CentOS power PC version for the AIX power serices) Then I saw a message below Please wait, loading kernel. :0,/vmlinux: Unable to open file, Invalid device Boot: How can I boot it up? Please give me an advice . Thanks Sean

error building apr-util spec file

Hey guys, I'm trying to create an apache 2.4.12 rpm file. But in order to do that I need to create an apr-util rpm of a recent enough version to support it. So running the rpmbuild command against the spec file I'm getting this error: checking db1/db.h usability... no checking db1/db.h presence... no checking for db1/db.h... no checking db.h usability... no checking db.h presence... no checking for db.h... no checking for Berkeley DB 1 in the standard places... checking db_185.h usability... no checking db_185.h presence... no checking for db_185.h... no *checking for Berkeley DB... not found* *configure: error: Berkeley DB not found.* error: Bad exit status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.yh0jGv (%build) It's claiming that Berkeley DB isn't installed. But to me it looks like I have the right libraries: [root@repo:~] #rpm -qa | grep db4 libdb4-utils-4.8.30-13.el7.x86_64 libdb4-devel-static-4.8.30-13.el7.x86_64 libdb4-4.8.30-13.el7.x86_64 libdb4-devel-4.8.30-13.el7.x86_64 This is the part of the spec file that calls for db4: %configure --with-apr=%{_prefix} \ --includedir=%{_includedir}/apr-%{apuver} \ --with-ldap --without-gdbm \ --with-sqlite3 --with-pgsql --with-mysql --with-freetds --with-odbc \ --with-berkeley-db \ --with-crypto --with-openssl --with-nss \ --without-sqlite2 So my questions for today are, do I need to provide a path to the --with-berkeley-db flag? If so, how do I determine the path to give it? Lastly, is db4 really necessary to the build of apr-util? Would it be completely wrong just to build the rpm without it? Firewalld IP in multiple zones

Hi, I would like to know what will happen when I add 192.168.3.0/24 to trusted zone, but 192.168.3.1/32 to public zone. 192.168.3.1 is the gateway and should not have access to other services in that network. However, will it be blocked or trusted to access services which are allowed in the trusted zone? What's firewalld's rule? Deny before allow? Thanks in advance Tim
