KVM Kernel crash problem

Hello, With my new system centos 7.1 and KVM I have kernel crashes on boot in the DomU's like this id c51a566956f67146b061f2e7500c78090fe6eed4 reason: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#2 stuck for 23s! Gcc issue on C7

I apologize up front, I'm sure this isn't the right place to ask, but I'm not sure where I should ask, instead. Hoping for some helpful hints in that regard... I'm using (trying to use...) the -fsanitize=thread feature. Though I'm finding the diagnostics rather cryptic, that isn't my issue here. This app doesn't use longjmp or siglongjump or any other of its cousins. It's possible that some 3rd-party lib (Oracle??) might, but I don't know why it has been working for several weeks and suddenly starts giving me this error... Hi, Is there an ETA on when CVE-2014-4043 for glibc will be fixed in centos. I see the upstream vendor version glibc-2.20 has this fix supposedly, but I don't see this specific fix in the centos glibc changelogs. I've compiled the test code for this bug and as of glibc-2.17.77 the test reports the bug is present. Preferably we'd like this fix on centos6.6 as we can't move to 7.0 yet. Thanks, -->Pat

"selinux --disabled" in kickstart file does NOT disable SELINUX

Has the "selinux --disabled" line for kickstart files been depreciated? My CentOS 6.6 kickstart file contains the line: selinux --disabled After the install completes, SELinux is enabled instead of disabled. /etc/selinux/config contains "SELINUX=enforcing" instead of "SELINUX=disabled". CentOS 7 and mobile broadband Ericsson F5521gw

Hello all, I have got problems to get my mobile broadband connection running on my Lenovo T420. But NetworkManager doesn't seem to connect. I ran through the wizard for mobile broadband connections but it doesn't work. The Ericsson f5521gw seems to run with cdc_ndm module. I also installed modem-manager-gui and unlocked my sim by using mmcli. But still NetworkManager can't establish a connection. I also can't delete connection out of the NM-GUI so I needed to remove them from /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections. Did I miss something? The logs seem to be fine so far. My CentOS 7 has all recent updates applied. Thanks in advance Tim

Hi all, My target is: CentOS 7 on a X less gateway My internet provider provides a pppoe connection with a login and a password On CentOS6, I used to setip it up with rp-pppoe wizzard and it works: it sets up the needed things to make the network init script launch the connection at boot. I would like to learn how to do it with NM and CentOS 7. How to invoke nmcli in order to have it connected at boot? Thank you.

Centos 7.1 openldap-2.4.39 question

I have two instances of an openldap-2.4.39 server running with syncrepl in a master-master replication setup. These are Centos 7.1 test servers which have been running for over 2 months now with no problems. Partly the good behavior of the LDAP servers is due to very little exercise. Yesterday I decided to try and see exactly how well replication was working. With server-2 up and running I tried these sequences of commands on server-1 (domain, user and DNs have been changed): server-1> systemctl stop slapd server-1> slapadd -l useradd.ldif server-1> systemctl start slapd server-1> ldapsearch -ZZ -W -D cn=Boss,dc=example,dc=com -b ou=People,dc=example,dc=com uid=newuser # extended LDIF # # LDAPv3 # base <ou=People,dc=example,dc=com> with scope subtree # filter: uid=newuser # requesting: ALL # # newuser, People, example.com dn: uid=newuser,ou=People,dc=example,dc=com uid: newuser cn: NEW01- newuser uidNumber: 100510 objectClass: posixAccount objectClass: shadowAccount objectClass: person objectClass: organizationalPerson objectClass: inetOrgPerson objectClass: top gecos: NEW01- newuser sn: NEW01- newuser loginShell: /bin/bash gidNumber: 100510 homeDirectory: /users/home/newuser userPassword:: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx # search result search: 3 result: 0 Success # numResponses: 2 # numEntries: 1 As you can see the user was added correctly. However after a few minutes to give replication a chance to work I went over to server-2 and tried the equivalent ldapsearch command: server-2> ldapsearch -ZZ -W -D cn=Boss,dc=example,dc=com -b ou=People,dc=example,dc=com uid=newuser # extended LDIF # # LDAPv3 # base <ou=People,dc=example,dc=com> with scope subtree # filter: uid=newuser # requesting: ALL # # search result search: 3 result: 0 Success # numResponses: 1 No matter how long I wait, the newuser is never replicated on server=2. So I tried something different. After putting back the LDAP databases so that they were consistent I did this sequence on server-1 server-1> ldapadd -ZZ -W -D cn=Boss,dc=example,dc=com -b ou=People,dc=example,dc=com -f useradd.ldif This time the ldapsearch command: ldapsearch -ZZ -W -D cn=Boss,dc=example,dc=com -b ou=People,dc=example,dc=com uid=newuser returns the new user on both server-1 and server-2! What I found is that as long as I use ldapadd, ldapdelete and ldapmodify the LDAP databases replicate correctly in a master-master mode. My first question: Should the first sequence of commands with the slapadd command work or am I expecting behavior that is not supported? My second question: If the first sequence of commands with the slapadd command should work but does not can anyone suggest a reason as to why? So I've built my first CentOS 7 host and am learning all the new ways of doing things. I setup and enabled ntpd but after a reboot I get: $ systemctl status ntpd ntpd.service - Network Time Service Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/ntpd.service; enabled) Active: inactive (dead) After issuing: $ systemctl start ntpd Ntpd runs just fine. But why isn't it loading at boot time?
