In the past I've booted up with a GNU/Linux live CD that has GParted and enlarged the partition that Windows occupies. Expect Windows to do a check disk (I think) following the resize. Or [instead of using GParted] I'd expect you could boot to a live environment and use fdisk to delete the Windows partition (after marking down the start of the existing partition). Then create an NTFS partition in the same place that is of the larger desired size. From there you might be able to boot your Windows OS and have it resize ... but I don't know for certain (though worth a test if you have a backup and don't mind testing it!). If you were feeling adventurous, you could also loopback mount it and choose my second suggestion with fdisk. But if you had gparted or ntfs-3g you could also use utilities to manipulate the disk and file system. First, check your "target" level (previously called runlevel), with the command: systemctl get-default As the notes in the /etc/inittab file (which isn't used any longer) indicate, you can use the "systemctl set-default ..." command to change your target/runlevel to graphical. If you have a graphical interface installed that should get you to it when you reboot after changing your target level. MATE is in the EPEL repository. You should look at: <http://wiki.centos.org/AdditionalResources/Repositories> for details on it, and other 3rd party repositories, and how to set it up. [please don't top post -- or at least keep the posting order consistent.]

CentOS 7 Gnome

I installed CentOS 7 from the DVD iso file: CentOS-7-x86_64-DVD-1503-01.iso Yum update was used (with no update issues) to install and update many packages. The installer is significantly different from CentOS 6 where one can basicallychoose to "install everything" if one has the patience to check all productsand all software options within those categories. During the CentOS 7 install,the "Development Workstation" was selected with all options checked. The new gnome Desktop menu bar still has Applications and Places, but the Systemmenu is gone. I even tried installing the minimal CentOS 7 system and then addingthe gnome, but that yielded the same result, still no System menu item on the bar. One interesting fact is that the RH admin guide actually refers to the System menu and other items on the menu bar but some of them are actually absent. Red_Hat_Enterprise_Linux-7-Desktop_Migration_and_Administration_Guide-en-US.pdf Can anyone provide assistance in getting the system menu back in gnome. Thanks

What has happened to the CentOS logo?

Has the CentOS logo disappeared from CentOS-7? I thought the logo in CentOS-6 was very pleasant. Also I liked the way in which one increasing circle inside another showed how the boot was progressing. The dots going round and round in Microsoft fashion in CentOS-7 is a retrograde step, I think. anaconda-ks.cfg fatal

Good afternoon Support Team, I have discovered a disturbing error inside anaconda-ks.cfg under the /root directory. Examination found the config file devoid of the string "buns". It's distressing, because I don't understand how my Anaconda can get anything done if it doesn't happen to have any buns. Please advise I need to know how to continue. creating RPMs from CRAN tarballs

This is not specifically a CentOS question, but I am creating RPMS for CentOS 6 from some CRAN tarballs. I run R2spec -s tarball to create a spec file, and most of the time it works ok, but sometimes (RPostgresSQL, Rcpp for example) the package has test or example programs that start with #!/usr/bin/r with lower case r, and the resulting package then winds up with a dependency on /usr/bin/r, which can't be resolved. So far I have solved it by editing all the files and replacing with /usr/bin/R, recreating the tarball and going through the process again, but I have to believe there is an easier way. Is there a option to not create the dependency? Thanks Tony Schreiner

Migration to centos 7 and program seg faulting

Everything on Centos 7 seems fine - except - my program. I am trying to compile and run on centos 7. Everything compiles/runs on C6, the executable from C6 runs on C7. when I compile and run on C7 - I get a SEG fault. when I debug: gdb program break main run I get a seg fault at or before main What might I be looking for in this case? Hi All, I am using CentOS 5.5 with gcc version 2.5.123.el5. I just wanted to check whether the CVE-2015-1781 is fixed in the current version? How can I do that?
