linux-3.10.0-514.el7.tar.xz - process of creation

I try to create own patch for kernel, and I look in process of generation binary rpm file. As I can see, for creation binary package, rpmbuild doesn't uses any set of patches and doesn't uses file of original (vanilla) version of kernel. Instead it, I see some xz archive of compressed tree of kernel probably with all changes (linux-3.10.0-514.el7.tar.xz). How and where I can find process of creation of this archive and to see separately all set of patches? I want to remove some changes and add own. Many thanks to all, who have such info and can give link on process or link on documentations of process of creation of this archive. best regards, Andrei upwork.link

Pacemaker bugs?

The cluster works fine, but as soon as I add a cluster resource of class "service", the cluster manager software runs havoc on node failover. In that situation, the lrmd process hangs in an infinite loop (neither strace nor ltrace show any outout so it seems to be an internal loop without any system or library call) and almost any call to the cluster manager software (crmsh or pcs) runs into a timeout. It's quite hard to recover the whole cluster from this situation. When I replace the resource class "service" with resource class "systemd", everything seems to work just fine. I found a rather old, already closed bug for Fedora which looks similar: <https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1117151> Another bug seems to be rather minor: I see following assertions in the corosync logs: Nov 25 11:13:56 [3206] clnode1 crmd: error: crm_abort: pcmkRegisterNode: Triggered assert at xml.c:594 : node->type == XML_ELEMENT_NODE They seem to be related with the drbd resource, but do not cause any functional problem it seems. Headless Centos 7 "File and Print Server" install - configure WIFI

Google has done it's usual job and returned lots of results but not led me to a solution. I've just build a Centos 7 "File and Print Server" config, i.e. no screen/keyboard/mouse and no GUI installed. The LAN connection has worked out of the box and I can SSH into the server without issue. However, I cannot find out how to configure the WIFI connection which I need in order to provide Air Print services. I'm using a USB dongle which the kernel has recognised and provides me with a device. I can use that device to scan for available WIFI networks. What I can't do is configure a connection so that the server can connect to the the WIFI network. Can anyone help with a link to suitable instructions? Dnsmasq and /etc/hosts

Hi, I just setup CentOS 7 on three boxes to fiddle with it. 1. amandine.sandbox.lan is a headless LAN server 2. bernadette.sandbox.lan is a client desktop 3. raymonde.sandbox.lan is another client desktop I've setup Dnsmasq on amandine.sandbox.lan. Here's the very basic configuration: # /etc/dnsmasq.conf domain-needed bogus-priv interface=enp3s1 dhcp-range=192.168.3.100,192.168.3.200,24h local=/sandbox.lan/ domain=sandbox.lan expand-hosts no-resolv # DNS server=192.168.2.1 # Postes fixes dhcp-host=00:1E:C9:43:A7:BF,bernadette,192.168.3.2 dhcp-host=00:1D:09:15:4A:D8,raymonde,192.168.3.3 With this setup as such, I can resolve bernadette from raymonde, and I can also resolve raymonde from bernadette. But when I try to resolve either bernadette or raymonde from the server, I get an unknown hostname. The only way to solve this is to add two corresponding lines to /etc/hosts: # /etc/hosts 127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost 192.168.3.1 amandine.sandbox.lan amandine 192.168.3.2 bernadette.sandbox.lan bernadette 192.168.3.3 raymonde.sandbox.lan raymonde This strikes me as a benign redundancy, which makes me wonder if I'm doing something unorthodox here. C6: latest util-linux-ng dependency on kernel?

I am just applying the latest C6 updates to a couple of KVM Linodes. It appears that the latest update of util-linux-ng has added a new dependency on the kernel package. On these VMs, the kernel package is not normally installed, and the VM runs a host-supplied kernel. But now, a "yum update" wants to install for dependencies kernel, kernel-firmware and grubby, none of which should be necessary in this environment. I have allowed it on one Linode and rebooted it. All seems ok and it is still running the host-supplied kernel, but it still grates that an unused kernel should have been required to be installed. Is this an error in util-linux-ng, or a real new requirement? If that's the route you go, on outlet.dell.com you can filter for just those by choosing Outlet for Work (if you watch the banners at the top you can often squeeze an additional 20%-30% off the already discounted - from the 'build your own' - prices... enough to pay for 3 or 4 year Pro Support Plus coverage, which provides next-day repair service... the 'plus' includes even accidental damage). Be aware though, their Thunderbolt 3 ports might not yet be supported by even C7 unless you're willing to compile new kernels yourself with the proper options enabled (sorry - not sure exactly which options are required). A query about Thunderbolt 3 support in C6 at centos.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=57927 asked back in May has yet to attract a response. Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S5
