CentOS 7, PS-2 moose

I just built a workstation, CentOS 7, fully updated. My user requires his three-button mouse, telling me that imaging software is written for three-button mice (so *please* don't tell me to tell him to get a new mouse). Anyway, no cursor. In both /var/log/messages and journalctl, I see "unable to enable mouse". What I read in messages and manpages is that PS-2 is default standard... anyone have any ideas? I need to resolve this asap... so I can get onto making sure his research imaging software running on CentOS 7. mark

Hello Guys, I'm still allive, but humbled by real lifetime. My personal test stuff moved out to a new server, with more harddrive space. http://www.centos.cms4all.org/ Repo http://centos.cms4all.org/repo/7/ My HP Notebook got some bios problem. I got a new machine with updated processor. That's why I upgrade my repo. Drivers: xorg-x11-drv-intel-2.99.917-20.20161118.el7.centos.src.rpm (More stable on intel p520 against the old HP with intel 5500 installation - got video glitches before). nouveau 1.0.13 ati 7.8 amdgpu 1.20 libva-intel-driver 1.73 libva 1.73 libdrm2.4.74 Mesa: mesa 13.0.2 + llvm 3.8 Kernel: Vanilla kernel-4.8.11 - feel very difficult with it, because of harddrives..hm I will see. Wine: wine-1.8.5 (still need to update requirements) wine-stage 1.9.23 (compiled with my drivers and mesa repo) - gallium 9 + staging + steam - update requirements - Tested: World of Warcraft, Gildwars 2, Tera - HD 6870 , HD 6970 with gallium. intel p520 performce slower, but works. winetricks Other: gimp 2.8.18 (table release) Media: Makemkv 1.10.2 That's it for no. PS: My packages are not signed as always - private work state.

CentOS 6: environment variables and cronjobs ...

Hello, in /etc/cron.d/test I've this: 50 15 * * * root ( date ; echo "---" ; env ; echo "---" ; set ) >>/tmp/test.txt and I thought I would be shown environment variables which are defined in e.g. /etc/profiles.d/proxy.sh or /etc/profiles.d/proxy.csh but this isn't like this ... where do I have to define e.g. export http_proxy="http://proxy.local:3128/" in order to have it in cron jobs? CentOS 7 Update from DVD

I am trying to find how to update CentOS 7 using the DVD. In the past, C6, just insert the DVD, select "install or update" from the boot menu, continue, and later select update and continue... done... reboot. I dont see that on the C7 boot disk. How is that accomplished? Thanks, Jerry

CentOS 6, firefox, PIV cards

Hi, folks, Up until a few weeks ago, it worked as it has been for years: firefox, security device is libcoolkey, and pcscd. Today, I go to use it (I have done updates sine I last used it), and try preferences->advanced->certificates, and it hangs. My most recent try was for over 20 min. If you move something over the window, then move it away, it's a blank window. Pull out the card, and *some* of the time, it pops up the window showing no certs, having never asked for a PIN. The rest of the time, firefox crashes, hard. I know the pcscd part works - I used it via a script this morning from the command line, as does pkcs15-tool from the command line. Anyone got any clues? Maybe I should downgrade (if I can) firefox? mark

Recent updates for CentOS7?

Hi, I noticed there have not been any new updates for CentOS 7 for four weeks now (at least not under http://mirror.centos.org/centos/7/updates/x86_64/). For Centos 6 updates have been released more recently (i.e. the Firefox-45.5.0 update). I was not able to find any information about this "pause". Is this planned, and when will new updates be released?
