GRE based attack?

My new Centso7 server that I am testing out is connected with a public address on my dmz. I am connected to the console port. Overnight the following message was logged to the console: [44133.679108] conntrack: generic helper won't handle protocol 47. Please consider loading the specific helper module. Protocol 47 is GRE. So was this 'just' an a ping by an attacker? No one, but I have any business on this server. Well other than the files I put up for people. thanks

Can anyone confirm that the above 4-port card is supported at its full resolution and capabilities under CentOS 6 and/or 7? The card has four DisplayPort 1.2 connectors, each capable of driving a 4K monitor. Thank you.

chronyd configuration as a local ntp server

This is for centos 7 that has chronyd 2.1.1 I am looking into how to use chronyd as my local ntp server. On my old servers with ntpd I had local access control lines like: restrict 192.168.128.0 mask 255.255.255.0 nomodify notrap But in looking for documentation on chronyd I did not find anything on this at: https://chrony.tuxfamily.org/doc/2.1/manual.html In the actual /etc/chronyd.conf there is the sample line: # Allow NTP client access from local network. #allow 192.168/16 Does this allow only allow queries? Does chronyd support the 'restrict' option? thank you

GUI black screen on login, startx works???

Hello, I'm using a recent install of centos 7, no GUI customizations that I recall. When I log in using the GUI it accepts my password and the mouse appears on a black screen, like it is preparing the desktop, but the desktop never appears. If I hit control-alt-f4 and log in using the command line, and then execute startx, Everything seems to work perfectly. What sort of troubleshooting should I do to figure out what is stalling? I'm not at all familiar with this aspect of things. thanks, Dave

devtoolset-4 ageing?

hi everyone just a quickie to devel maybe. I'm looking at some bits: devtoolset-4-elfutils-libelf-0.163-2.el7.x86_64 VS elfutils-0.166-2.el7.x86_64 isn't devtool ageing? Could this be the case with more packages? regards, L.

Hi, folks, I know there was some talk on the list about this, but a) I'm at work, and that thread is pop-3 on my system at home, and b) what attention I paid didn't suggest *this*: Transaction Summary ================================================================================ Install 3 Packages (+10 Dependent packages) Upgrade 537 Packages Skipped (dependency problems) 278 Packages Total download size: 700 M Is this ok [y/d/N]: n One-third of the entire upgrade failed for dependencies or conflicts? I've just checked, and CR is not enabled, either. Was there a resolution for this? mark

OT - hardware - firmware update .iso to flash drive?

I tried dd'ing the .iso to /dev/sdb. I can mount it, and see the contents fine, but parted -l says unknown partition. Anyone have a clue it this will actually boot? mark

apcupsd-3.14.14

Hello, Looking for a apcupsd 3.14.14 rpm. Been getting communication lost errors. I read there was a problem with the 3.14.12 version regarding a usb connection which I'm using, but has been corrected in 3.14.14. I found a Fedora 25 Rawhide src version, but the link must be bad. Was hoping I could rebuild it for Cento 6. Looks like apcupsd no longer producing the rpms. I could build one from the source but would prefer to use an rpm. TIA
