udev on /dev type devtmpfs

Hello all.. I'm trying to run CentOS 7 in a LXC container and need to disable udev so that we can manage the devices ourselves. I believe that I've disabled all of the systemd related udev services, but udev is still taking over and mounting /dev. What is the proper way to disable this? vpn - xl2tpd and routing to a net?

hi everybody I'm having a, I'd like to think a "regular" VPN with IPsec/xl2tpd and it all works OK, except.. One thing that I never needed but now I do and I wonder.... is it my iptables, or/and routing or maybe VPN server config..? vpn clients with established tunnels can get to VPN server's NICs/IPs but cannot get through to the net behind the server. Well... they can, but only if on a host (eg. 192.168.2.33) on VPN server's net I do: route add -host 192.168.2.10 gw 192.168.2.100 # 192.168.2.10 is VPN client I thought this I'd not need since that local net (eg. 192.168.2.33) use VPN server's 192.168.2.100 as the default gw. is it by design and nature of that VPN solution it works this way or I actually have missed/messed up something? I hope the latter and adding routing on per "to host" basis is redundant. many thanks

Network bond - one port goes down from time to time

Hi, may be someone has an idea: We have three supermicron servers with two 10Gb Ports each, connected to a cisco switch stack 1Gb ports. All are on auto speed. I configured a LACP bond on both sides on all servers, first with citrix xen server. On one server eth0 goes down from time to time … maybe within minutes, someday it is up for some hours. Two server are fine; the bond is up for 24 days(!) now without any problem. Recently I installed centos 7.2 on that server in question and - bam - eth0 is going down from time to time … I checked patch cables, tried an other switch port channel, reconfigured the ports, reinstalled the os. Same behavior. And: We got a replacement server. Same behavior …. :) Currently the cisco tech guys don’t see a problem on the switch (which is up for 3 Years now with 10+ servers connected … no problem so far), from the citrix side I don’t get much more hints. In the logs i just have a Nic Link is Down … Nic Link is Up. It is always eth0. Question: Any idea ? One suggestion was Disable all power saving features in the server bios. Did not do that yet. Is there any chance to set some sort of higher debug level for that nic/kernel/whatever to get some server os side feedback why the port goes down? Regards and thanks for any hint! . Götz

CentOS6: Building a modified kernel rpm

I'm very confused on the right step to use to setup a modified kernel in centOS6. As a simple user, I've downloaded the latests sources (I'm runing an old kernel version) : rpm -i http://vault.centos.org/6.7/updates/Source/SPackages/kernel-2.6.32-573.22.1… in the spec file ~/rpmbuild/SPECS/kernel.spec I've set: %define buildid .numa Now I want to set *CONFIG_NUMA_EMU=y* before runing: rpmbuild -bb --without xen --without debug --without debuginfo --target=x86_64 ./SPECS/kernel.spec But where shoud I set this CONFIG_NUMA_EMU option ? I've tested several config files where this options was specified (using grep as a last solution) but each build reset my choice and it is not available in the final kernel. And google is a little bit confusing for me with many and many diverging informations. Thank to kernel gourous for their advices. Mingw64 GtkLauncher.exe Crashes

I have successfully installed the cross compiled dll's and other files supplied by centos 7 on a machine running Windows 7. When I run GtkLauncher.exe it comes up with the google page displayed. However, when I try to view "http://www.msnbc.com" Gtklauncher crashes in libjavascriptcore.dll at offset 0xa4944. nfl.com comes up, but then crashes in the same place. My questions are: 1. Can anyone else successfully bring up these web sites in GtkLauncher.exe? 2. If not, is this a known problem and is there a fix? 3. If these sites can be viewed, then there is probably something in my environment that is not correct. Does anyone have any thoughts on what might cause my behavior? What about fonts or pango stuff? I used "Dependency Walker" and objdump of libjavascriptcore.dll on Windows and the offset looks like it is in the function "cti_vm_handle_exception". Unfortunately this doesn't tell me where the exception occurred. I then ran it in gdb and got two stack frames. gdb said the stack was corrupted. The two stack addresses that I got pointed to the same area, but not exactly. The first frame on the stack looked like it was in some exception code. The second one was in some long function that started with "_ZN3JSC3JIT26privateCompileGetByIdChainEPNS_17...". I appreciate any help or suggestions that anyone has. Trouble installing C7

I put a CentOS 7 live CD into a PC several years old, and ran it without trouble for several days. Then I told it to install itself to the hard drive. That took kind of a while (perhaps because the machine is behind a KVM switch with three others?), but eventually told me it had finished. I rebooted. Given my druthers, I would now run Yumex, deleting as many as I could of all the things I never use. Then I'd update from whatever version is on the CD to the current one. But I get errors, trying to run Yumex or to install it (both as root), saying "Could not resolve host: mirrorlist.centos.org" There are some panels, or what look to be panels; but the display on them looks like it's been chewed up and spat out by some monster in the machine. (Until I get logged in, the whole screen looks like that, or maybe as if two tilings had crashed into each other at high speed.) Any clues? firewalld question

Hi all! I'n wondering if it is possible to have Centos-7 automatically change firewall zones, depending on the network we conect to. my default zone is "home" and it has some ports open that probably shouldn't be open when I'm on someone elose's network. so I'm thinking that if there's a way to have it always use home when I'm at home, and external when I'm not, it would be great. I see that firewall-cmd has a ton of options, but not sure which one(s) I'd need for switching. (I see one for setting default zone, but I didn't see one for setting current zone--maybe I'm blind).
