Free Redhat Linux (rhel) version 7.2

I read that Redhat was offering their Linux free, and downloaded the ISO, though I haven't run it. What do CentOS users think of Redhat's offer? The registration with Redhat seemed very bureaucratic to me, and I'm not sure if I have carried it out properly. Also, I didn't see if it was possible to get updates, either with dnf or some other way. I've been (and am) very pleased with CentOS, which I've been running for several years, and I don't particularly want to change. Dear All As far as I know , to check for the amount of installed RAM on my centos server I checked it as: #more /proc/meminfo Can you please let me know how can I check for the instantaneous occupied amount of my RAM the similar way the task manager shows it on my Win server ? Thank you in advance

UDP de-fragmentation problem

Hi all. I have a strange problem at hand regarding UDP fragmentation on Centos7: Applications are unable to receive UDP packets which have undergone fragmentation UNLESS the netfilter modules are loaded. The problem arose on a application which would run fine on OpenSuse but does not work on Centos7. The application processes UDP data and on Centos only small packets are received and processed, packets below the fragmentation size limit of about 1500 bytes. UDP packets which have undergone fragmentation are not received by the application. The application in question uses Qt, which opens the UDP socket in non-blocking mode - apparently that's an issue because reading from the socket in blocking mode does not cause the problem. By chance I hit on the fact that once the netfilter kernel-modules (nf_nat, iptable_nat, nf_nat ...) are loaded the problem disappears and UDP packets of all sizes are correctly delivered and processed. NOTES: - I'm not using netfilter. My iptables are empty, firewalld is not running. - Other networking applications -at least tcp- are working fine: webbrowsing, ssh, nfs etc even DNS - Does not happen on Opensuse regardless if netfilter modules are loaded or not. - Does not happen on Opensuse on the same machine. Does happen on different machines on Centos7. So it's not HW dependend - There is AFAIK nothing special about my Centos7 installation. How to set hostname and domainnmae in CentOS 7?

We can permanently set hostname using hostnamectl set-hostname. How can we permanently set *domain name* in CentOS 7? I found an article <http://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/239920/how-to-set-the-fully-qualifi…> that recommended setting FQDN using hostnamectl. Is that the right way to set hostname and domainname at the same time using *hostnamectl set-hostname* command? Running *hostnamectl set-hostname* will set the hostname in* /etc/hostname* but it doesn't change */etc/hosts*. What's the proper way of adding hostname and FQDN to */etc/hosts *in CentOS 7? Kernel 2.6.32-573.22.1.el6.x86_64, higher than usual load

Hi, After switching to the 2.6.32-573.22.1.el6.x86_64 kernel (CentOS 6) a few weeks ago I have noticed that my servers are now reporting a much higher idle load. The servers are being monitored with Zabbix, and there is a clear difference between the older kernel 2.6.32-573.12.1 and the newer 2.6.32-573.12.1. I can see the problem on both physical and virtual servers. You can see the Load Average chart here from one of our servers: http://imgur.com/U1eihMX The server is pretty much idle all the time, but the load average increased from 0.001 to 0.300 when updated to the new kernel. Is anyone else seeing the same behavior? Tool to Manage KVM with Web Browser

Hi All, Is there someone out there using web browser to manage multiple KVM host servers right now in checking the MIST.IO Cloud platform and there are lot more from the http://linux-kvm.org/page/Management_Tools but Im not sure what is the best for me. The first requirement is of-course it should be open-source with zero cost and stable for daily operation. Anyone can help me decide or advice the best web tools for KVM. many thanks

Openshot 2.x (beta) on C7??

I'm interested in trying out the new OpenShot beta (2.06) on CentOS 7. Openshot requires Python3. so I look at available packages where I find a bunchof python3 packages as well as python34 packages. I'm assuming that python34 is version 3.4 of python, while python3 is some other 3.x version. Can anyone here explain to me what are the differences, any compatibility across these versions, and how to tell which I need for OpenShot? Thanks in adva ce! CentOS 7.2 rootfs for i386

Hi I want to build a small rootfs for 32 bit CentOS to the same I plan to build the entire OS but I see https://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/I_need_the_Kernel_Source kernel_build for 32 bit is not supported . Please let me know anybody has built the same Thanks Kavitha
