systemd-journald errors

Hi all, I have 5 CentOS 7 virtual guests installed (all fully patched to latest release) and i have the following error in all of them: systemd-journald[7779]: File /run/log/journal/b4a41f4214ca44f898638301891a6f2e/system.journal corrupted or uncleanly shut down, renaming and replacing. ?? .. And I don't understand why. I have configured "Storage=volatile" in journald.conf ... How can I debug this error? Is it possible to disable systemd-journald thoroughly? Thanks -- Greetings, C. L. Configure an Out Of Office Reply with Postfix?

Hi, I'm running a Postfix mail server on CentOS 7 for our local school. Some users would like to have an out of office reply for the holiday season. I see there is a little utility called 'vacation', and I wonder if this is the right tool for the job. Any recommendations? What free memory range is safe to operate?

Hello, Hello, There's a official documentation telling which is the percent of free memory is indicated to operate?A limit to Avoiding crashing, slow performance, and memory warnings. kmod-jfs on Centos 6

I am a bit of a noob with Linux and Centos but would like to be able to access an old external USB disk formatted JFS by OS/2. I have seen there is a kmod-jfs package on elrepo that ought to work with Centos 6 but am unsure how to install kmods without hosing my existing system... If anyone would like to be so kind to give me a short how-to, I would be very grateful. Thank you.

Not Able to Configure Nagios Server 4.3.4 in Centos 7

Hi Team, I was trying to install the Nagios server in Centos 7. I had downloaded and unzipped the Nagios server and it's plugins file. As per the installation instructions I ran the commands in the concerned folders of ./configure , make , make install for both the core and the Nagios plugins. I am not able to figure out the issue behind that it is not working It did got installed using yum which was a previous 4.3.2 that that had it's own errors and wanted me to update with no update of it available in the epel repository. ... but only upon its own start/restart hi everyone would you know a trick? PartOf= does the whole lot, stops when stopped, so no. Here I need only re/start, everything else is ignored. many thanks, L.

C7, docker, logging

Hi, folks, Well my user had errors, so I got to restart the docker daemon with --log-level=warn. This is *not* my idea of "warn" log level. Now, I see from the docs that you can't simply tell it a logfile to use, like /var/log/docker, but I see one of the logging drivers is something called graylog. So, I'm looking for advice: should I set up graylog, to get this crap out of my syslogs, or is there something else that's a preferred logging method? mark

[OT] Bash help

I know this is for CentOS stuff, but I'm at a loss on how to build a script that does what I need it to do. It's probably really logically simple, I'm just not seeing it. Hopefully someone will take pity on me and at least give me a big hint. I have a file with two columns 'email' and 'total' like this: me(a)example.com 20 me(a)example.com 40 you(a)domain.com 100 you(a)domain.com 30 I need to get the total number of messages for each email address. This type of code has always been the hardest for me for whatever reason, and honestly, I don't write many scripts these days. I'm struggling to get psuedocode that works, much less a working script. I know this is off topic, and if it gets modded out, that's fine. Transferring Thunderbird mail accounts: Windows vs. Linux

Hi, One of my clients brought me his PC with Windows 7, so I can migrate it to Linux, e. g. CentOS 7 + KDE. So far I made a backup of all the data, but I wonder how I can migrate the existing Thunderbird account. An operation I perform quite regularly is replace an existing Linux system (Ubuntu, openSUSE, Fedora, whatever) by CentOS. When Thunderbird is configured, I just backup the whole ~/.thunderbird directory and then restore it on the new installation, which usually works perfectly. Any idea if I do this when moving a desktop installation from Windows 7 to CentOS?
