Lenovo M900 with CentOS 7 strangeness

Hello, I would like to install CentOS 7.3 on my new Lenovo M900 machine. I am using the official 1 DVD installer. The installation process was fine without any error but after reboot the USB keyboard and the USB mouse did not work. Therefore I was not able to type anything or pass the first boot screen. Only the power button is working. Any idea why? I believe the installation media is using the same kernel components as the installed machine. So why the installer is working and the installed system is not? BR, Zsolt

Using Apache 2.2 config files on Apache 2.4

Hello List, I'm in the process of migrating LAMP servers. I've got a C5 LAMP server in my rack that has been running faithfully without complaint for the past 9 years. In some ways I really hate to move out of it, but there are things to get done, things to consider and reasons that make the migration necessary. I've got a C7 server loaded and the basic configuration partially completed. All the packages I need to replace the old server are in place. But I've reached a point where something has come up and I don't know the answer to: Can I use the configuration files and methods I'm accustomed to from apache 2,2 from my C5 server with Apache 2.4 on the new C7 server? I've been looking at the way thing are done with Apache 2.4 on C7 and in regards to SSL configuration I really don't care for it. It seems convoluted and a bit unnecessarily complicated. /I'm sure there's a good reason for it... I'm either not seeing it, or I'm sub-consciously not interested in why it's this way./ Thanks in advance, Mark

system encryption question

Hello, Centos 7.x Let say a clean-install of Centos 7.x is being performed on a box simply with two partitions / and /boot ... and that there is no extra complexity like lvm , raid ,etc,etc ... Centos 7.x process allows / to be encrypted with pass phrase... How can a key, residing on a usb flash drive, to be added to the encryption of / ? So the system needs both manual input of pass phrase as well as presence of usb flash drive to come up after getting rebooted. Thank you, F-

Finding lshw and flash-plugin or alternates

Dear CentOS Gurus I have been using "repoforge.org" primarily to obtain two RPMs, "lshw" and "flash-plugin". I recently realized that "repoforge.org" should not be used, as it has had no updates for a long long time. But, when I search for the RPMs within the repos: base centosplus contrib epel extras updates the lshw program is nowhere to be found. I value its ability to inventory the hardware, and construct an attractive HTML page. So, for each of these two programs, - is there a repo I can add that would cover what I need - is there an alternate program in the case of lshw This applies no only to Centos 6 (32 & 64), but also Centos 7. Folks An earlier post concerning 'lshw' has been resolved. It exists in 'base' for el6(32), el6(64), el7(64) and armv5tel (rpi2). So, I will repeat the original request with lshw concerns removed. NetworkManager and Half DHCP not work correct - second time.

Hello Guys, today i strungle in my office and at home. 1. The networkadapter works before on "full" dhcp. 2. change to half (means searchname and searchserver manual) 3. order was correct inside the config, but in seperated network configs: PEERDNS=yes ????? 5. DNS Server where in wrong direction in the consol. 4. I changed the PEERDNS entry at home manually. Reboot. Everything works as expected, nameserver in right order (NEW, OLD, OLD2). At my office i deleted every adapter and rearrange it. Strange, but true. Sincerely Andy PS: Don't tell me disable NetworkManager. I know both work out. :-)

Perhaps even related to this issue: https://elrepo.org/bugs/view.php?id=693 which kmod-nvidia do you have? At the bottom of 693, pperry indicates: "kmod-nvidia-367.57-2.el7.elrepo.x86_64 is for EL7.3". Even when this disclaimer is not here: I am not a contracting officer. Xen-4.4 branch End of Life

The CentOS VIrtualization Special Interest Group wants to remind everyone that the End of Life for the Xen-4.4 branch (currently 4.4.4-19) will be March 31st, 2017. This is because the Xen Project will no longer support Xen-4.4 after that date, based on this link: https://wiki.xenproject.org/wiki/Xen_Project_Release_Features Xen-4.6 is still available and will be maintained until October 2018 (on both CentOS-6 and CentOS-7) and Xen-4.8 will be available soon.
