Can't access Samba shares from Nautilus

Hi, I'm currently experimenting with Samba on a few sandbox machines. On the server side, I have setup CentOS 7 with a basic Samba setup and two shares, one public, the other password-protected. I have two Windows 7 boxes in my network, and I can access the shares perfectly, log in to the password-protected share, read and write files, so this seems to work OK. On my main Linux workstation (CentOS 7 + custom GNOME) I can't seem to access these shares. When I click on the "Parcourir le réseau" ("Browse network") icon in GNOME, Nautilus opens and shows a "Réseau Windows" ("Windows network") icon. Clicking on this icon, I only get the following error message: "Impossible d'accéder à l'emplacement". Unable to access this place. Check version from installer disc

Is there some way to see what version will be installed by an installation disc? I made a USB installer and I forgot whether it's CentOS 7.3 or 7.5. Short of running the whole installer and seeing what happens, I can't see any way to get this info from within Anaconda.

C7, NetworkMangler, and IPv6

Hi, folks, Freshly built box... but does not get its IPv6 address. Gets its IPv4 with no trouble, and if I *manually* run dhclient -v -N eno1, it gets the correct IPv6, but after that, nope. And INITIPV^=yes in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-eno1. I even tried adding NETWORKING_IPV6=yes to an otherwise empty /etc/sysconfig/network. What am I missing? mark

C 7 installation annoyances

In the disk partitioner, I can't 1) choose to make the LVM with root and swap be on a RAID 1. Is there some way to do that, rather than two separate partitions RAIDed? 2) They don't align, so I can't clone /dev/sda to /dev/sdb as a failover (for /boot and /boot/efi). I've created those two, manually, and nope, it wiped them out, so I can't clone those two. Any solutions for either of these? I don't have hardware RAID card on this box. mark

Frefox update from firefox-60.2.0-1.el7.centos.x86_64 to 60.2.1-1.el7.centos.x86_64 lost master password

Hi list, Did an update to firefox last night and rebooted over night. Today I find firefox started without asking for master password - funny me thinks. Try to log in to a web service I use and find that my password does not appear. Check preferences and find that no master password is set and the password list / table is empty. As I do not trust my passwords to the cloud I do not save these to my firefox profile ..... so back to manual entry for all my sites.... wow going to be a slow month as I reset scores of passwords. Any one else have this problem and any clues as to what causes this? I am concerned if this should happen again, as I have saved passwords for many scores of web services. TIA Rob

Hide CPU cores in system monitor

In CentOS 7.3 the gnome-system-monitor shows one big graph for CPU usage. Now in CentOS 7.5 I see a red box for each core. On a machine with lots of CPU cores, this is taking up too much screen real estate, so is there some way to go back to the old behavior?

C6 Bind

Hi All, I'm really struggling with a bind problem on C6. bind runs split external and internal dns for a few zones. I had to change the motherboard in my server and the ethernet device name changed from eth3 to eth4. I've updated my firewall rules to accommodate that change but bind in not resolving when accessed externally. If I telnet to port 53 from outside my LAN I get a connection. If I stop bind that connection is refused, confirming the local bind instance is getting the connection. Its as if it is refusing to allow the source make a query. nslookup commands from external sources get "connection timed out" I'm stumped. I've even tried to set it up again on an older C5 system I happen to have to get things running again. Scroll bar arrows missing and behaviour change

I have done some Googling on this but everything I've found appears to be at least 2 years old and mostly refers to Gnome TBH, I'm surprised nobody else has mentioned it - maybe it's only happened to me. At some point over the last few months the behaviour of the scroll bars changed and I'm finding it very annoying. Firstly, the arrows have vanished. Secondly, when clicking on the scroll bar background either above or below the drag bar instead of doing a page up or page down which is what it used to do (and what I want it to continue doing) it now moves the scroll bar to that absolute position, i.e. if I click on 75% down the scroll bar it jumps to 75% of the document. As this is happening in all apps I'm assuming it's something within KDE that had changed. I'm running an up-to-date Centos 7 x64 running the KDE desktop. Anyone got suggestions on how I can get back the the old style (windows clone) behaviour and appearance?
