VMWare Workstation 14 on CentOS7

Hello there, I'm encountering blocking issues with VMWare Workstation v14/v12 on CentOS 7. The issue is that any Linux guestsystem will get network-disconnected after a short while. I tried w/ brand new guest installs, guests coming from a v12 WS. Tried different guest network settings, I always get disconnected. I found several cases like this on the Web, but couldn't see any working solution yet. My CentOS7 runs 4.9.75-204.el7.centos.x86_64 kernel. On my previous CentOS 6, still alive, v12 works like a charm. Does anyone have experience with this? Regards, -- wwp

multipath recipe for an enclosure ?

hi guys, In hope that some experts roam around I post this one question - how do you multipath disks(all disks) that sit in one specific SAS enclosure? Blacklist everything else. And I'm hoping for something like "globing", so you do not want to go through it on by single disk/wwin basis. some experts?(or maybe even not, it could be that I do not get it) many thanks, L.

Postfix, system notifications and local servers

Hi, I have CentOS 7 running on half a dozen public servers. For some stuff like automatic updates using yum-cron, I have Postfix installed with a relatively basic configuration. This allows me to send important notifications to my mail address info(a)microlinux.fr. When there's a batch of updates, I get one mail per machine, so I can check quickly if everything went OK without having to connect to the server. Now I'd also like to use this setup on machines that aren't in a datacenter and facing the Internet. For example, servers that have "dummy" hostnames like nestor.microlinux.lan or sauvegarde.scholae.lan. Is there a way I can setup Postfix so this machine can send an e-mail to info(a)microlinux.fr, even if 'hostname --fqdn' returns a "dummy" hostname? Install C7 on HP DL360e G8

HI All - I am trying to install the above... The BIOS reports 1 virtual drive, but when C7 is installing there are 0 disks found. >From the hardware it says the raid card is a P420 ... I did a little searching and saw it talking about B320i card - which does not seem to be my card. I'm stuck. Any thoughts? Thanks, Jerry

Semi-OT: ipmitool or ipmicfg: set BMC to use NIC 2

The man page isn't helping, nor have I been able to find examples that work. For example, the man page claims I can do ipmitool lan get active, and I try, and it says, "invaling lan command, get". Do I set the MAC address for the lan to NIC 2? Anyone have a clue - I do *not* want martians on the real network. mark

lightdm + xorg.conf + nvidia driver

Hello CentOS-Community, I have to maintain a server that should be useable with VNC and some software requires to run VirtualGL. Also a nvidia graphic card is installed. After downloading and installing the nvidia driver from nvidias homepage and modifying the xorg.conf as mentioned on the virtualgL-homepage, I am not able to restart lightdm anymore. Lightdm should be running, otherwise it is not possible to run virtualgl in an appropriate way. I had the same/similar issues on three different servers with three different nvidia graphic cards. Any help is appreciated. dumb shared library question

Binary compiled on a system with ggc 5.5.0 w/ libstdc++.so.6.0.21 Because the major version is libstdc++.so.6 there shouldn't be any problems running it on CentOS 7 with libstdc++.so.6.0.19, right?
