qeum on centos 8 with nvme disk

Hi All - I use qemu on my centOS 7.7 box that has software raid of 2- SSD disks. I installed an nVME drive in the computer also. I tried to insall CentOS8 on it (the physical /dev/nvme0n1 with the -hda /dev/nvme0n1 as the disk. The process started installing but is really "slow" - I was expecting with the nvme device it would be much quicker. Is there something I am missing how to get a faster disk access ? Thanks, Jerry

CentOS 8 virt-manager

I am thinking about building a new host and trying to decide if virt-manager is working on CentOS 8. I thought I saw previously on the mail list that there were some issues but cannot find the thread right now. If anyone has migrated some workloads from 7 and seen any issues let me know. Thanks :)

Is it a way to upgrade CentOS 7 to 8?

Hi, I’m looking for a method to upgrade my centos 7 servers to 8 and I don’t find anything to do that! I’m a very newbie with CentOS? My choices where gone to Debian or Ubuntu and it was very simple. Just some files must be changed (/etc/apt/source.list). My search suggest a RELH subscription. Is it the only way? C8 and KDE

Goog morning to the list, for all users that are interested about KDE Plasma on Centos 8 you can install KDE from epel. All packages are get from epel-playground and epel-testing and some packages seems need to be build. I run "yum grouplist" and see kde workspace available. I tried to install it, reboot my machine and running startx a KDE plasma session was correctly launched. I think that this is a testing release and not ready for production but if you want play you can try. Maybe you will find bug and can help EPEL to fix. Best regards.

RAID controller recommendations that are supported by RHEL/CentOS 8?

Hi, I'm currently looking for a RAID controller with BBU/CacheVault and while LSI MegaRaid controllers worked well in the past apparently they are no longer supported in RHEL 8: https://access.redhat.com/discussions/3722151 Does anybody have recommendations for for hardware controllers with cache that should work in both CentOS 7 and 8 out of the box? CentOS 8 Installation Not Recognizing Local Disk

I have an older Dell PowerEdge server with one hard drive, with CentOS 7 currently installed. I wanted to do a clean install of CentOS 8, but it doesn't pick up the hard drive. When I click on the destination to pick the hard drive it only shows the USB drive that I'm installing from. I checked for a RAID configuration on the server, but there is only one disk, and no RAID is configured. The disk is controlled by the PowerEdge Raid Controller (PERC), but when I disable that I lose the disk completely. I suspect that PERC is part of the problem, but a CentOS 7 install proceeds normally with PERC enabled. Do you know of a change from CentOS 7 to 8 that would cause this, or if there is a workaround? I've searched for several days and haven't found anything yet. Thank you! Hello, Is it a Plan to correct the Broken mdadm and or driver for Intel Chipset C602, my Server SuperMicro Board X9SRi-F have a Problem with the new C8 or RH8 ?
