Network Bridge - error

Hi, I'm new to CentOS. (I have tried Debian, Ubuntu, Devuan & Gentoo). And also new to CloudStack. I'm trying the Quick Installation Guide of CloudStack as pointed by Andrija Panic of ShapeBlue https://github.com/apache/cloudstack-documentation/blob/master/source/quick… At Configuring the Network topic, I got an error: [root@localhost ~]# systemctl restart network Job for network.service failed because the control process exited with error code. autofs mounts all map entries after unmount timeout

Hello, i have run an update on a machine with CentOS release 7.4.1708 and autofs 1:5.0.7-70.el7_4.1 to CentOS release 7.6.1810 and autofs 1:5.0.7-99.el7 The configuration did not change, all auto.* maps look the same as before. After the update, the autofs seems to be broken for the direct mounts. When reaching the umount timeout it does the opposite and mounts all direct mounts and never umounts. Does someone had already seen such behavior and can point me in the right direction to understand why this happens. Thanks for all your comments, Wilhelm

Automated XFCE install from kickstart and epel-release issue

Hello, I am working on a kickstart automated Centos 7 GUI vm deployment. Defining gnome desktop in kickstart works. @gnome-desktop - A GNOME desktop However Centos and anything from the epel-release such as xrdp does not work. I have tried it on different ways. repo --name=epel-release %packages #epel-release # DOES NOT WORK @ Core #@core @ Base #@base @ X Window System #@x11 #@ XFCE # DOES NOT WORK @xfce-desktop # DOES NOT WORK #@Server with GUI # DOES NOT WORK #Xfce # DOES NOT WORK #xrdp # DOES NOT WORK I have followed the recommendations in this discussion: https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/81354/import-epel-gpg-key-in-kicks… None of them worked. In the %post% section yum -y commands seems to be ignored. I would also like to do a full system upgrade automatically. Any ideas? Thanks

Hi I have to (re-)write many bootup scripts to move a bunch of servers from CentOS6 to CentOS7 In sysvinit the "echo_success" and "echo_failure" used to do this. What is the equivalent for systemd? thanks Jobst

somewhat OT -- are .appimage files safe?

Hello all. I'm in the midst of trying to transfer a G+ community to something else. I came across this site-- https://blog.friendsplus.me/export-google-plus-feeds-45926c925891 that actually has an advanced "exporter" app but it is an ".appimage" app. I am not familiar with this at all and was wondering if someone on this list is. perl-Net-SCP on Centos 7

Hi All, My new server is now built and I'm rebuilding the various services. Falling at the first hurdle, my xinetd.conf service requrires perl-Net-SCP which doesn't appear to be available on C7. I could install CPAN and install it that way, but obviously I'd rather try to keep to RPM's if I can. I've tried Google, but not really come up with a solution I'm happy with. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've found a Fedora 29 RPM on RPMfind. Would that be close enough?

What files to edit when changing the sdX of hard drives?

Hi I have read instructions for udev, I also found many example on how to do this. I want to lock in the SDA/SDB/SDC for my drives and I came up with a rule like this KERNEL=="sd?", SUBSYSTEM=="block", ENV{ID_SERIAL}=="ST500DM002-1BC142_W2A56H8A", NAME="sda", RUN+="/usr/bin/logger ID_SERIAL=$ENV{ID_SERIAL} set to /dev/sda ", GOTO="END_PERSISTENT_DISK" However, it is not clear to me is in what files I need to add my rules. Do I add a random file "99-my-rules.rules" in "/etc/udev/rules.d/"? Do I copy a file from "/usr/lib/udev" to "/etc/udev/rules.d/" and add my rules? Do I need to be careful with the NUMBER, e.g. "60-my-rule.rules"?
