Issues booting centos7 [dracut is failing to enable centos/root, centos/swap LVs]

Hello, I'm having a strange problem booting a new centos7 installation. Below some background on this. [I have attached the tech details at the bottom of this message] I started a new CentOS7 installation on a VM, so far all good, o/s boots fine. Then I decided to increase VM disk size (initially was 10G) to 13G. Powered off the VM, increased the vhd via the hypervisor, booted from CentOS livecd, selected "recover my centos installation". Then I used the following sequence of commands to make the new vhd size "visible" to the o/s ... - ran fdisk /dev/sda and deleted partition 2. (This is the LVM partition where the o/s is stored. The first partition is /boot [xfs] partition *non lvm*.) - created a new partition with same starting sector as before deleting it, but a different ending sector (to reflect to the increased space). - set partition type to 8e (lvm), saved settings and exit. - ran pvresize and lvresize to make new space visible to the o/s.All good, I can see the space increase on 'lvdisplay centos/root'. - ran 'mount /dev/mapper/centos-root /mnt/root' to temporarily mount the o/s partition. - ran 'xfs_growfs /mnt/root' to resize the o/s fs to the new size. It was successful and I could actually chroot to the o/s and verify new disk size. - rebooted and tried to boot from hdd this time. Grub menu shows up and loads default kernel (3.10.0-862.9.1.el7.x86_64). - after initial kernel boot up process, booting continues to initrd and then it's where the problem starts... - looks like dracut has issues locating/enabling /dev/mapper/centos-root (lv) and as a result it cannot boot to the 'real' root fs (/). - while in dracut shell, I execute the following command sequence: 1. lvm lvchange -ay /dev/centos/root 2. lvm lvchange -ay /dev/centos/swap 3. ln -s /dev/mapper/centos-root /dev/root 4. exit ...and the o/s boots fine...so looks like the pv,vg,lv is detected properly while in initrd, but somehow dracut has difficulties enabling the root,swap LVs ? - While in o/s, I rebuild initrd by using: 'dracut -f -v -a lvm' Note, I have to use '-a lvm' as for some reason, if don't, the lvm utils (lvm,lvm_scan) are not being included to the initrd, not sure why this happens. After rebooting, same thing happens, I have to manually boot the system via dracut shell. I'm a bit stuck at this point, any clues what I'm doing wrong in here ? Brother HL-L2360DW printing quality

I have the above printer but have not been able to resolve issues with the printing quality in CentOS 7. The test page prints fine but when I print PDF-documents, most recently using Chinese fonts, it is lacking and the pages very hard to read. The settings in the Mate Cups configuration panel are fine and set to 600 dpi, the settings in the printer menu are all OK yet it prints more like maybe 150 or even 75 dpi. Any suggestion what might be wrong?

CentOS 7.6 1810 vs. VirtualBox : bug with keyboard layout selection

Hi, I'm currently working on my next Linux book, which will be an elementary course about CentOS administration. I'm using VirtualBox for all the installer screenshots. Since CentOS has recently been upgraded to version 7.6, I thought I might as well base all book references on this version. So I downloaded the 7.6 1810 minimal ISO and started a fresh installation in VirtualBox. I'm using a Swiss French keyboard layout (ch-fr or fr_CH-latin1), so one of the first things I do in the installer is replace the default French AZERTY keyboard (since I use the french language) by a swiss french QWERTZ layout. Now when I reach this dialog in the installer and try do define my new layout, the slider in the selection window doesn't appear, and clicking on any of the first layouts doesn't do anything, so I'm basically stuck there. I'm running OpenSUSE Leap 15.0 KDE on my workstation, so I tried the same thing with the previous CentOS 7.5 1804 minimal ISO, and the keyboard selection dialog works perfectly. So my intuition would tell me that there's a nasty bug in the CentOS 7.6 installer. Maybe it went unnoticed, since most folks stick to the default keyboard layout selected in their language. Any suggestions ? CentOS 7 as a Fibre Channel SAN Target

For quite some time I’ve been using FreeNAS to provide services as a NAS over ethernet and SAN over Fibre Channel to CentOS 7 servers each using their own export, not sharing the same one. It’s time for me to replace my hardware and I have a new R720XD that I’d like to use in the same capacity but configure CentOS 7 as a Fibre Channel target rather than use FreeNAS any further. I’m doing virtualization and this will allow me to have failover from one node to the other since they’ll all be sharing the same export rather than me simply backing up to the FreeNAS server the way I am now. Does anyone know of any really good current articles that explain how to set up CentOS 7 as the target in such a configuration and also setting up CLVMd so they can all share an export over Fibre Channel from CentOS 7? browsers slowing Centos 7 installation to a crawl

My video problems mentioned in a previous thread are gone, though I do not know why. Now my problem is that whenever I have a browser open and an internet connection, my Centos 7 slows to a crawl. Chromium seems to be the least bad. Sometimes it slows to the point that I cannot even move the mouse. Even switching between virtual terminals takes a while sometimes. When I get there, top generally shows me between two and five D states. I've changed service providers lately. The problem survived the change. Some sites seem to aggravate the problem. Most recently, a site tried to connect to c.amazon.adsystem.com . I got the message waiting for c.amazon.adsystem.com . I have that address in my hosts file as 127.0.0.1 . ping finds it and pings. nslookup does not: > [hennebry@localhost ~]$ nslookup c.amazon.adsystem.com > Server: 192.168.0.1 > Address: 192.168.0.1#53 > > ** server can't find c.amazon.adsystem.com: NXDOMAIN Whether the slow-to-crawl problem is related to the failure to redirect, I do not know. CentOS7 sometimes don't detect NIC after reboot

I have brand new PC with this components: CPU Intel® Pentium G5400, LGA1151 motherboard ASUS PRIME B360M-C 16 GB RAM HDD 2x ADATA SSD 256GB XPG GAMMIX S11, PCIe Gen3x4 M.2 2280 (RAID1) NIC Intel X550-T1 Ethernet Converged Network Adapter I installed CentOS 7 and two NICs were detected: eno1 (on motherboard) enp1s0 (Intel X550-T1) When I restart the machine sometimes enp1s0 is missing. It is not detected during boot. It looks like NIC card is not installed / not present. After next reboot everything is fine and I do not see any problems with NIC card. How can I avoid this problem with missing NIC? Can you help me, please? Miroslav Geisselreiter

UEFI and PXE

We have a working PXE setup. I've tried to adapt it to UEFI as per RHEL6 manual, but the client won't boot. Strangely, tcpdump shows that the client tries to download all files via tftp from the dhcp server rather than the tftp server (they are different). next-server is pointing to the tftp server. Any clues?

Centos 7 on Dell Latitude E6500

Hi, I tried to install Centos7 x86_64 minimal 1503-01 from an USB flash drive on my old Dell Latitude E6500 laptop. boots up in text mode, switches text resolution, writes: Started Show Plymouth Boot Screen Reached Target Paths Reached Target Basic System. then hangs for some time, eventually starting dracut emergency shell. log says: multipathd: sdb: spurious uevent, path already in pathvec multipathd: sda: spurious uevent, path already in pathvec interesting: sdb is the internal 240GB kingston SSD drive (existing ntfs bitlocker partition recognized as sdb1) sda is the write protected USB stick, recognised as CDROM drive. 4GB rom intel 45 express chipset mobile intel GMA 4500MHD graphics intel 5100AGN wifi what to try next? any additional infos I can give you? thnx in advance. -- Best regards, Rainer mailto:rfu@oudeis.org

/boot partition too small

First off - let me say I am not an administrator. I need to know if there is an easy way to increase my /boot partition. When I installed CentOS 6 after running 5, it was my oversight not to increase the /boot size. it's too small and I can't do yum updates. if it's not easy to actually increase it, is it safe to take a chunk in my root filesystem (like /new.boot or something) and just mount it as /boot from now on so it uses the space or is that not a good idea? I am sure I could easily copy the rpms/kernel stuff over to it and then unmounts the real /boot and mount this new area as /boot. Can you administrators let me know what you think of all this? Hi, The SquidGuard URL redirector has recently been updated in EPEL, and I'm a bit puzzled. I'm still using SquidGuard on a few local proxy servers running CentOS 7, because it's a nifty piece of software for filtering web traffic. The project's home page has remained unchanged for more than ten years: * http://www.squidguard.org/ It looks like the project has been dormant or dead for quite some time. I've been looking for a replacement for SquidGuard, but haven't been lucky yet. Anyone else has more information on SquidGuard, or suggestions for a replacement? I have tested this with a CentOS 7 and Opensuse all found my Raid but with CentOS 8 this is broken? I found on start the Installation a Error from mdadm that ist all. Missing repodata/ for CentOS 8 on

Hi folks, I've noted that the CentOS 8 debuginfo repo lacks the repodata/ directory: http://debuginfo.centos.org/8/x86_64/ Did the maintainers forget to upload it? It does have all the .rpm files under the Packages/ sub-directory though: http://debuginfo.centos.org/8/x86_64/Packages/ And no repodata/ there either. Also, I've noted the 8-stream/ directory which is empty. Is it something we are supposed to use too? Thanks for your help! Best, Yichun

Pidgin fails to connect google

I recently upgraded to Centos 7.7 and when I rebooted everything seemed to be OK except that pidgin failed to connect to gtalk with the error SSL Handshake Failed After trying several configuration changes with no luck I tried pidgin on a host that was still running Centos 7.6 and it had the same error. Based on that I'm concluding that it doesn't appear to have anything to do with Centos 7,7 but that the failure is coincidental. Does anyone know what the problem is and how to resolve it? XRDP idle disconnect

Hello, I have a machine with Centos7, Plasma desktop and XRDP. Many people log in the machine, and then press 'X' of the rdp window, instead of logging off. Is there a way to automatically log off their sessions, similar to MS Windows setting? Thanks,

CentOS 8 creates /boot with ext4

I just installed CentOS 8 in a VirtualBox VM, to explore it. Immediately, I noticed something strange. I insatlled it using a kickstart file, whose partitioning section is this: zerombr clearpart --all --initlabel reqpart --add-boot part pv.01 --ondisk=/dev/sda --size=1 --grow volgroup vg01 pv.01 logvol / --name=lv_root --vgname=vg01 --size=1 --grow bootloader --driveorder=sda On CentOS 7, this resulted in an XFS-formatted /boot filesystem. In CentOS 8, this created an EXT4-formatted /boot filesystem. I looked through RHEL 8's release notes and other documentation, but could not find any place that mentions this change. Does anyone know if this is deliberate, or a bug of some kind? Regards, Anand

LVM and thin snapshots

Hi there! Im new here. Im trying to install Centos 8 on my laptop. I also want to have a contingency plan in case something brakes. My first thoughts were to use LVM. The idea is that i would take multiple snapshots of the system during the day/week and will keep them for a short time. I read RHEL documentation about how lvm works and pretty much understand how to manage the above scenario with LVM snapshots and encryption. If i understood lvm snapshots will cause delay the system after multiple snapshots. The best way to avoid it is using thin snapshots. At rhel documentation it says that is possible for a non thin volume to get a thin snapshots. [Correct me if my above assumptions are wrong or if there is a better solution for my purpose.] So i created a group with 3 volumes groups and one thin pool. Im trying to take a snapshot and i get the message. "Cannot use writable LV as the external origin." I read somewhere that i should change it to read only and then take a snapshot. Although that would be a problem i just try it to see if it works. Then i got the message "Cannot use active LV for the external origin" Any ideas??? Thanks in advance Georgios

Hello, today I updated a CentOS 7.6 ppc64le machine to CentOS 7.7. After reboot to the new kernel (4.18.0-80.7.2.el7.ppc64le) dkms could not build the nvidia-module. Error-message from dkms: Compiler version check failed: The major and minor number of the compiler used to compile the kernel: gcc version 8.3.1 20190311 (Red Hat 8.3.1-3) (GCC) does not match the compiler used here: cc (GCC) 4.8.5 20150623 (Red Hat 4.8.5-39) Output of /proc/version with new kernel running is: Linux version 4.18.0-80.7.2.el7.ppc64le (mockbuild(a)ppc64le-01.bsys.centos.org) (gcc version 8.3.1 20190311 (Red Hat 8.3.1-3) (GCC)) #1 SMP Thu Sep 12 15:45:05 UTC 2019 Problem seams to be: The kernel was compiled with gcc-version 8.3.1 and installed is gcc 4.8.5. Centos 7, netboot using initramfs.img

Hello, I am trying to boot a node using initramfs. (actually it is a little more complicated, I am booting the node using perceus and vnfs images). Anyway, when booting with a kernel and using initramfs.img, dracut is trying to to configure both Network NICs, the first one would be fine, but I don't want it to ven try to configure the 2nd one using dhcp. How can I stop dracut from trying to do that? thanks, Ron

For those who come across this thread, I've found the exact list of changed and dropped package between rhel:7 and rhel:8: https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-us/red_hat_enterprise_linux/8/ht… Too bad that the "note" column is empty in the dropped package table. NO word about reason or possible alternatives. Also too bad that those drops were not advertised before release so developers could think about migrating there code. That would have helped me a lot if I had knew that docbook-utils-pdf would be dropped....I would have searched for an alternative long ago. Olivier. Hi, I need to port OSCAR Cluster and SystemImager softwares to centos8, but I miss a lot of package that seems to be built for centos-8. For example, I cant find docbook-utils and docbook-utls-pdf while I see them here: https://koji.mbox.centos.org/koji/buildinfo?buildID=651 I’ve installed epel-release and elrepo-release and centos-release-stream. Do I miss something or is it a matter of time due to mirro syncs? I misse btrfs packages, perl-Tk packages, docbook packages and many more that I can find on https://koji.mbox.centos.org/koji/builds Where am I wrong? PS: I’m running CentOS-8 in docker (roboxes/centos8 wainting for official centos:8 container). USB of ISO image

Hi I did the dd iso to my USB. all is fine. I can mount the second partition (which is not iso 9660) and edit the grub.cfg file. Question is what do I run after that so my new menu option appears ? grub2-install /dev/sdd Is that the correct command to get grub to notice my new file ? Assuming sdd is the USB disk of course. USB thumb drive for CentOS 7.7 to install

I took the "everything" iso and did the dd command to my 16G thumb drive. I booted and entered my usual ks=http://xxx on the boot line. All good so far. It gets my kickstart file and installation begins. At some point it says Installing libreoffice-opensymbol-fonts (492/1948) Retrying download of 1:libreoffice-opensymbol-fonts-5.3.6.1-21.el7.norarch then after 10 retries it fails. I have verfied this file is on my USB disk, I have re-downloaded from different mirror, the Everything file, dd that to my USB disk, tried the re-install and still the error. I don't know what to try next. Jerry

I just skimmed through the deprecated, and there's a *lot*. But one hit me in the face: if you make a change to /etc/nsswitch.conf, you need to REBOOT THE SERVER? Ok, did this come from Redmond?* Oh, and I note virt-manager replaced by cockpit. Can someone pass along a little note: Sybase has had, for a bunch of years, a required program... called cockpit. I think they've got the name by priority.... * I thought that "your cursor has moved; please reboot Windows to have this change take effect was a joke... until, about 5-6 years ago, I found in trying to set up samba at home on Win 8 that if I changed the workgroup name... it required Windows to be rebooted. So... really? nsswitch.conf, and reboot? Now I think I'll install C 7 to dual boot on my lady's workstation, rather than 8. mark "or my manager this I should go to ubuntu, which I dislike...." mark

Video projector vs. onboard video card

Hi, I have a CentOS 7 desktop client installed on an old Dell Optiplex computer with an Intel video card integrated into the motherboard. The card has a single VGA connector, and the 19" monitor is connected to it. I wonder how I could connect a video projector to this computer while keeping the monitor, in a mirroring configuration, e. g. output is the same on the video projector and the monitor. Do I have to replace my onboard video card by something like an NVidia GT710 graphic card with two video connectors ? Or is there a different solution for this? CentOS 8 Boot.iso image DHCP4 not working?

I'm just wondering if anyone else is not getting a DHCPv4 address in Anaconda, using the CentOS 8 Boot.iso image? I get an IPv6 Autoconfig address, but it doesn't want to pick up a DHCPv4. This is in a Hyper-V Gen2 VM, connected to the same network all my other dev VMs are on, and picking up DHCPv4 without issue. And, congratz to the CentOS team on 2 releases in a week (or so)! Interesting update problem

I had problems updating a 7.6 machine to 7.7, so I reinstalled it from scratch and applied all the 7.6 updates, then attempted the 7.7 upgrade again. It failed with the same errors. I'm wondering where the problem is? # yum update ... [hundreds of lines of the next line] warning: Unable to get systemd shutdown inhibition lock Error in PRETRANS scriptlet in rpm package 1:java-1.8.0-openjdk-headless-1.8.0.222.b10-1.el7_7.x86_64 Error in PRETRANS scriptlet in rpm package 1:java-11-openjdk-headless-11.0.4.11-1.el7_7.x86_64 Error in PRETRANS scriptlet in rpm package kmod-kvdo-6.1.2.41-5.el7.x86_64 mesa-libEGL-devel-18.3.4-5.el7.x86_64 was supposed to be installed but is not! Verifying : mesa-libEGL-devel-18.3.4-5.el7.x86_64 1/3285 [repeating for dozens or hundreds of other packages] ... Failed: [list of all upgrade packages] Of course mesa-libEGL-devel-18.3.4-5.el7.x86_64 is not installed, that's the new version. The installed version is mesa-libEGL-devel-18.0.5-4.el7_6.x86_64. Where did it all go wrong? I tried clearing the yum cache and rebuilding the rpm db, no joy. Another 7.6 machine upgraded fine, although from a smaller installed package set.

Was reading the long list of things being deprecated in the RHEL 8 release notes t'other day, and saw my old friend sendmail on the list. I've stuck by her because I've learned how she likes to be stroked to get the best out of her, and quail at the thought of taking on a new MTA and having to learn it all all over again. But I guess I'm going to have to, soon or late, probably sooner than later. :( Can anyone point me to resources specifically for helping us ignorant folk in converting all the arcan-ity in sendmail.mc into something equivalent for Postfix? This particular server has a bonded interface, and the corresponding configuration for the master is ( /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg-bond0): TYPE=Bond BOOTPROTO=none DEFROUTE=yes IPV4_FAILURE_FATAL=yes NAME=bond0 DEVICE=bond0 ONBOOT=yes IPADDR=10.3.20.131 PREFIX=24 GATEWAY=10.3.20.1 DNS1=10.3.2.8 BONDING_MASTER=yes BONDING_OPTS="mode=802.3ad xmit_hash_policy=layer2 miimon=100" The slaves (two of them) are configured like TYPE=Ethernet BOOTPROTO=none NAME=bond0-slave0 DEVICE=em3 ONBOOT=yes MASTER=bond0 SLAVE=yes After booting, the routing table is 10.3.20.0/24 dev bond0 proto kernel scope link src 10.3.20.131 metric 300 with no default route configured (manually adding it will work, of course.) running init disconnects ssh session

Noticing a new behavior lately. Logged in via sshd and ssh keys as root to a remote system. When changing runlevels between multi-user or graphical the ssh session is disconnected. It's not a big deal but annoying if I have other tasks to do on that particular system. UEFI booting

I installed my first UEFI disk yesterday. Seemed to go fine. CentOS 7.6 x86_64 I then took that disk "out" of that machine and put it another machine - it seems to not even boot. I put the original disk back in that machine and it boots fine. I put the UEFI disk back in the machine I built it on and it works fine. They are similar machines either and i3 and i7. Shouldn't that work? Build a UEFI disk on machine A - move it to machine B? Thanks Jerry

conflicts in updating to CR repo

Note, first of all I haven't actually updated, I'm just running "yum update" to see what conflicts, if any, I get so I can be prepared when the final 7.7 release happens. I've traditionally used the nvidia packages from elrepo, but recently enabled rpmfusion (back when I started using 7.x, I disabled rpmfusion because it took them a looooong time to get a EL7 repository up). I use the priority plugin in yum, and have elrepo at priority 50 and rpmfusion at priority 60, so the elrepo nvidia packages should "win", but yum seems to be confused about which packages to use. So now when doing yum update (with CR enabled) I get this long list of dependency issues regarding the nvidia packages. I'm wondering about the status of the Mate Desktop. Looking under M here: https://mirror.csclub.uwaterloo.ca/fedora/epel/8/Everything/x86_64/Packages… I don't see anything about Mate. I have two VMs hosted on ESX, running CentOS 6.10 One has kernel 2.6.32-754.11.1.el6.i686 and the other has 2.6.32-754.18.2.el6.i686 Both have selinux, currently in permissive mode. I need to work on a host which has been offline and powered down for some time. I has CentOS-6.9 installed. At some point it had two nics, one on the motherboard (still present and working) and one as an expansion card. When booted the console displays: pciehp 0000:00:1c:0:pcie04: Failed to check link status repeatedly. How to disable i915 module

I am setting up CentOS 7 on my new firewall. This will run as a head- less system, accessed via a serial console when necessary. It's only a 2GB system, so I don't see any reason to have the GPU consuming any of the RAM. I've blacklisted the i915, drm, and drm_kms_helper modules and rebuilt the initramfs, but the i915 module is still being loaded. Anyone know what might be loading the module and how I can stop it? RPMDB problem

When doing yum operations I get this message at the end of whatever yum was doing: ** Found 1 pre-existing rpmdb problem(s), 'yum check' output follows: brscan4-0.4.8-1.x86_64 is a duplicate with brscan4-0.4.3-1.x86_64 It is true, if I do "rpm -qa | grep brscan" it shows two of them. what's the best/proper way to deal with this? -remove both, reinstall one? -remove one? which one? I don't see a feature in rpm (or yum) for removing a single one of duplicate packages. How? Thanks in advance! File server as host for a Windows Server VM?

I hope that someone here can give some advice on the following: I have a Samba based Active Directory. A CentOS 7.6 machine runs as a file server and hosts the Windows user profiles for all the Windows workstations. Now management has decided that they need a Windows server for a couple of administrative applications, which need MS SQL Server. That would be the only role of this Windows. Since the above mentioned server has enough resources (2x Quad Core Xeon 2.66 GHz with HT and 48 GB of RAM, a dual port 10 Gb NIC) I thought of making it a host for a Windows virtual machine using KVM. Given the resources and current setup we have, at the moment it wouldn't be practical to implement both servers as VMs on top of a bare metal hypervisor. According to your experience, is there any motive why I shouldn't use such a setup? Thank you for any insights.

Opinions on using CR repository in production environments.

I was wondering what people's opinions are on running the CR repository on production systems? I'm currently predisposed to not do it since it indicates it hasn't fully gone through QA yet. But from my understanding except for the alt-arch systems these are just recompiles of the redhat RPMs after debranding right? I'm Curious how other people are treating this repository since, from the sounds of it, rpms are going to be in holding here between releases. So would you treat it as a production repository or for testing only? Do we know how it's actually intended to be treated? Any opinion is appreciated.

clamd / amavisd missing socket

I think something along these lines appeared before but I was unable to find them. I'm on a 7.6 system, been running clamav and amavisd-new since 6 days with little problem. On a recent reboot, clamd@amavisd does not start up and fails manual start. The problem seems to be the missing socket that connects the pair, "/var/run/clamd.amavisd/clamd.socket". I believe this should be created by systemd files but I see no indication of them on my system. Anyone know which files might be missing and where to get copies? Or a work around to run clamd@amavisd and get rid of the "*** UNCHECKED ***' additions to my my Subject lines? BTW manual creation of the socket with netcat had no effect on the startup. Increase logging verbosity of saslauthd?

Hi CentOS 7.X, sendmail.x86_64 8.14.7-5.el7, cyrus-sasl.x86_64 2.1.26-23.el7 There are conflicting message on how to increase the logging of saslauthd. I know I can do this: /usr/sbin/saslauthd -d -n0 -m /var/run/saslauthd -a pam but that requires a terminal as saslauthd logs the output to STDOUT, this is not what I want. I would like to have it started as a daemon and verbosity of logging increased into a log file. NFS Server on Centos 7.6.1810 dying without reason

Good morning, in order to post proper documentation, what logs (or log level) do I need to troubleshoot a Centos 7.6.1810 3.10.0-957.27.2.el7.x86_64 tha tis running a NFS server on top LVM on top of XFS on top of VDO on top of MDAM on a 6 SSD disk RAID6 ? This physical NFS server is servign 2 NFS v4.2 shares to 2 physical KVM virtualization hosts. When remote NFS clients start doing intensive stuff (massive writes) , the NFS server crashes and sometimes make the Linux server reboot. form KVM side this is all I get: hvm002 kernel: nfs: server 10.10.10.2 not responding, timed out thanks --------------------- Erick ---------------------

CUPS job handling

Hi, is it somehow possible to make CUPS automatically redirect jobs, and following jobs, away from printers which can not print them to other printers that can print them until the printers that couldn't print them are again able to print them? Like I have a bunch of label printers which are all the same, and all of which are prone to run out of labels or out of ribbon every now and then. It can take hours or even days before someone can refill a printer. Hence it would be very useful if CUPS could be told something like "if printer A doesn't print, move its current job to printer B and divert all new jobs sent to A to printer B instead until A prints again". What exactly happens when a printer that is member of a class can not print a job that was sent to the class? Will the unprintable job be automatically moved to another member of the same class, or will it only be aborted and never printed? With a class of two printers and one of them running out of labels, /var/log/cups/error_log only holds: ... [Job 174733] Stopping unresponsive job. What does this mean? Has the job been printed or not? Has it been printed after I refilled the printer?

oval support for centos

We use oval to check the system vulnerability. Redhat offer official oval(https://www.redhat.com/security/data/oval/), and it works well on redhat. There is no official centos oval, and using redhat oval on centos got false results. centos is based redhat, so I wrote a script fetch redhat oval files and convert it to useful for centos.
