CentOS 7 on Dell after update and reboot running at HZ not Mhz

I have a Dell R320 vendor_id : GenuineIntel cpu family : 6 model : 45 model name : Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2403 0 @ 1.80GHz stepping : 7 microcode : 0x71a cpu MHz : 176.550 Running this: cpupower frequency-set -g performance cpu MHz : 180.834 ONly changed to this. What on earth is making this machine run sooo slow ??? Its OFF by a factor of 10 - it should be 1800 mhz Thanks, Jerry

CentOS 7: gdm/Xorg logs flooding, disk full

Hello there, yesterday my main hdd, hosting a CentOS 7 system, went full.. I could figure out what happened: /var/log/Xorg.0.log and /var/log/gdm/:0.log files were both enormous (several GB each), flooded with messages like that: (Xorg's log excerpts) Auth name: MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 ID: 441 [ 18.958] AUDIT: Wed Dec 22 16:18:19 2021: 3999: client 1 disconnected [ 18.960] AUDIT: Wed Dec 22 16:18:19 2021: 3999: client 1 connected from local host ( uid=0 gid=0 pid=4552 ) (gdm's log excerpts) Auth name: MIT-MAGIC-COOKIE-1 ID: 441 AUDIT: Wed Dec 22 16:18:19 2021: 3999: client 1 disconnected AUDIT: Wed Dec 22 16:18:19 2021: 3999: client 1 connected from local host ( uid=0 gid=0 pid=4552 ) Meanwhile, I restarted the X session (and removed old big logs), but I see the logs growing again. firewalld: removing rich-rules based on its own list fails

Hi, I have some ansible roles which each create some firewalld rich-rules. For ansible idempotency I tried to remove any dns related rich-rules before creating the ones in the playbook. After some searching I came up with this: #!/bin/bash OLDIFS=$IFS IFS='' while read -r line; do firewall-cmd --zone=public --permanent --remove-rich-rule=\'$line\'; done <<< $(firewall-cmd --zone=public --list-rich-rules | egrep 'dns|53') IFS=$OLDIFS But this fails with for example: Error: INVALID_RULE: internal error in _lexer(): rule family="ipv4" source NOT address="46.23.XX.0/24" forward-port port="53" protocol="udp" to-port="60053" to-addr="46.23.XX.53" My googling & variations came up empty. Anyone know why this is failing and could possibly share how to make this work? Thanks! Best, Patrick

Trouble with CentOS-Stream-GenericCloud-9-20211208.0.x86_64.qcow2

I'm trying to test out the CentOS Stream 9 GenericCloud images. Hi List, I see on CentOS 7 it has log4j-1.2.17... Is ok 2 use. I know the CVE was against 2.0 fwd but not knowing if something was backported to 1.2 ?
