Hello I have a very old server. It's running Centos 6.9. (end of life) "mod_ssl" for httpd is not installed. The package I need is "mod_ssl-2.2.15-69.el6.centos.x86_64.rpm". Or I need a library file that I can load manually. Can you help with this? (Website PHP5.4. We can't migrate it for now. Too many old settings. We can't update it either. ) Thanks.

How do I install the "right" python3-tkinter in CentOS Stream 8?

In CentOS Stream 8, A yum upgrade just upgraded platform-python to platform-python-3.6.8-41.el8.x86_64.rpm. The upgrade wouldn't go through until I removed python3-tkinter-3.6.8-40.el8.x86_64. Now I want to reinstall python3-tkinter, and the only version yum is offering is 3.6.8-40, and it offers to downgrade platform-python to 3.6.8-41. python3-tkinter-3.6.8-37.el8.x86_64.rpm python3-tkinter-3.6.8-38.el8.x86_64.rpm python3-tkinter-3.6.8-39.el8.x86_64.rpm python3-tkinter-3.6.8-40.el8.x86_64.rpm python3-tkinter-3.6.8-41.el8.x86_64.rpm How do I get yum/dnf to let me install the "right" one (3.6.8-41)?

how to display/create DUID?

Hi, I would like to assign an ipv6 address through the DHCPv6 server of pfsense. To configure a static address, I need to tell the DHCPv6 server a DUID. Apparently DUIDs belong to a particular machine and aren't supposed to ever change unless you re-install the operating system. I guess every network card would need it's DUID because devices can have multiple network adapters, though ... and what happens when you change out the card? IIUC, the DUID is required to ask for/get ipv6 addresses from a DHCPv6 server. So there must be a way to create one, and perhaps it has already been created. Does networkmanager do that? So how/where do find I this DUID on my server?

external USB drives, strange result on reawaking

My backup system (using amanda) stores its data on external drives in a single 4 bay USB enclosure. As these drives are only needed during backup or recovery operations I have used hdparm to enable them go to an idle state after a period of inactivity. If I attempt to access any of the data when the drives are sleeping I get a strange result. Suppose I try to list one of the mountpoints, "ls .../D2", there is the expected delay while the 4 drives spin up and then ls completes with no output. I know each of the 4 drives has 40 subdirectories under the mount point. And each of the 3 other reawakened drive lists properly. But the directory I used to awaken the drives lists as empty. This effect is not limited to inititally listing a mount point. Had my command been "ls .../D2/DS1-044", DS1-044 would appear empty, but DS1-043 and all other similar directories list properly. Further, if I attempt to access a file I know exists in DS1-044 by its explicit name, that succeeds. It is like having execute permission, but not read permission on the directory. If I unmount and re-mount the filesystem, all is normal. Any clues as to why this happens, or ways to make the invisible visable again without the unmount/mount sequence? Jon -- Jon H. Connecting an android tablet to CentOS

I plug it in via usb, and I see mtp... but it sees it as a camera for some reason. Clue? Meanwhile, they seem to have updated android to make things less accessable, meaning I can't find the kindle books I bought, as I could a few months ago. mark

Find out which process consumed Network bandwidth

Hi, I am running CentOS Linux release 7.9.2009 (Core). Is there a way to find out which process consumed network bandwidth during a specific time period? For example, the Nginx process consumed how much network traffic on Sept 01, 2021. Best Regards, Kaushal
