Installing mdadm and C7 on new computer

I have a new computer with 2 x 2TB SSDs where I wanted to install C7 and use mdadm for RAID1 configuration and encrypting the /home partition. On the net I found https://tuxfixer.com/centos-7-installation-with-lvm-raid-1-mirroring/ which I adopted slightly with respect to partition sizes, using RAID1 for /boot and /root as well and added the /home partition with RAID1 and chose to have /home encrypted. Is there an "official/recommended/suggested" page for installing C7 and using mdadm for RAID1 in combination with LUKS encryption? As far as I can tell things seem right but would like to check before proceeding to install lots of other software. Thanks.

OT:: Multiple PHP versions

Hello, Been trying to get multiple versions of PHP on a CentOS 7 machine, off and on for the past couple months. I have followed 5 or 6 different howtos but none work. They are very similar and they seems to be done on a fresh install as most do an apache install is the steps. I setup two virtualhosts one for PHP5.6 and one for PHP 7.4. When I create a file with phpinfo, it reports back 5.6.xxx on both sites. So, I'm wondering if I need to remove the existing PHP version that is included with CentOS? Any suggestions or a better way to do this? TIA

install php version 8.0 on CentOS Linux release 7.9.2009

Hi, I am running ius-release-2-1.el7.ius.noarch on CentOS Linux release 7.9.2009 (Core). I am unable to locate the php 8.0 ius package as per https://www.php.net/supported-versions.php. Is there a way to install php version 8.0? Please guide me. Thanks in advance. Best Regards, Kaushal

R from EPEL

Hi guys. Does anybody use R from EPEL on centOS 8 Stream? Is it just me or R 4.1.3 became/is single-threaded now? r25 benchmark - https://mac.r-project.org/benchmarks/ in part where is used to be, should be multi-threaded now is not. Total result from the benchmark does not look bad but it's just one benchmark and I wonder about everything else if indeed it is EPEL's R problem. many thanks, L.

Is there an rpm of GCC 12 (or at least higher than 9) available to download and install, or is it a case of downloading and build from the source yourself? Thanks.

nodejs 18 on centos 7

open source network diagnostic tools

Everyone, From time to time on our network we experience a pause where it seems like everything just hesitates for a time, this could be 2-10 seconds, then communications resume and everything is normal again. I suspect that there one machine that is occasionally sending out bad packets or is flooding the network when it shouldn't, but I don't know for sure. I've tried scanning with angry ip scanner to confirm IP addresses are set and communicating as documented. I've tried running captures with wireshark to try to identify one culprit but nothing is sticking out. I've tried tcpdump to see if something obvious is placed there, but it's a flood of information and it's difficult to tell what (if anything) is a problem and what is not. I'm also working on setting up icinga for monitoring all servers to see if that provides insight. What other tools / tactics would you use to identify the core cause of these kinds of intermittent pauses? NFS Server Centos7

Hi guys, we are setting NFS server on CentOS7 system. Everything working OK except speed, speed over NFS very drop... if we run dd command directly on server we are getting speed around 1,4Gbps, if we run from client connected to NFS is 200Mbps. Do you have maybe some advice what we need to check? Thank you! Best, Erik
