centos 6.3 live-cd no internet connection

Good day, Installed Centos 6.3 live-cd. Looking good but * no internet connection * (wired dsl system). Other linux flavours do not seem to have this problem on my laptop and internet connection. Did a lot of google but not really advice that I could try. I would like to try Centos out but not able to proceed without connection. Kindly some detailed advice if possible. Thanks JohanS

Hello: I am new to Centos. I installed Centos 6.2 64 bit and want to upgrade to centos 6.3 64 bit without losing my current settings. Any help?

Several reasons to rebuild the box: The software to be tested requires a physical server. This is our Sand Box machine, but over time 'we' have been using it as a repository for various things. We can't get another IP address for a VM this time of the year. So much easier to just stick our custom 'offline' build DVD and change the channel in the Satellite server. Thanks, Gene Poole

I seem to have quieted some, but I'm still getting noise from selinux. Here's one that really puzzles me: my users have a ruby app with passenger running. However, one of the sealerts gives me: sealert -l 5a02b0a1-8512-4f71-b1c8-70a40b090a9d SELinux is preventing /bin/chmod from using the fowner capability. ***** Plugin catchall_boolean (89.3 confidence) suggests ******************* If you want to allow Apache to run in stickshift mode, not transition to passenger Then you must tell SELinux about this by enabling the 'httpd_run_stickshift' boolean.You can read 'httpd_selinux' man page for more details. CentOS version for sparc

Hello there, I'd like to have iso image version for ultra sparc 64bit. Recently, I downloaded centos version 4.2 beta iso image and installed on SunUltra sparc 64 bit machine. It was hang when it went to the screen " the CentOS 4.2 beta screen, <Tab>/<Alt tab> | <Space> selects | <F12> next screen ". Any idea? Please help. Thanks in advance. How to disable ipv6

Hi all, I'm pretty new to CentOS. I am working with a newly set-up server: [cbearden@host ~]$ lsb_release -a LSB Version: :core-4.0-amd64:core-4.0-noarch:graphics-4.0-amd64:graphics-4.0-noarch:printing-4.0-amd64:printing-4.0-noarch Distributor ID: CentOS Description: CentOS release 6.3 (Final) Release: 6.3 Codename: Final I'm trying to solve this problem (X11 forwarding) http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.linux.centos.general/119342/focus=119347 for myself. But disabling ipv6 and adding AddressFamily inet to my sshd config didn't fix the problem. Oddly enough, the output of netstat -an suggests that ipv6 is still enabled: tcp 0 0 :::22 :::* LISTEN even though [cbearden@PostgreSQL ~]$ cat /proc/sys/net/ipv6/conf/all/disable_ipv6 1 This is after a reboot. Am I right that the /proc file suggests that ipv6 is disabled while netstat suggests that it isn't? centos 6.3, cron and mail script output

Hi all I have a '/etc/cron.daily/push-to-backup' script which the content is: #!/bin/bash /usr/bin/rsync [... long options line ...] echo "finished pushing to the backup" Launched manually, it's OK. Waiting for cron to execute it, In the "/var/log/cron", I see the starting time and the finish time, and I see it take about 10 minutes to make the job. That's very fine, it's the expected executioon time The problem is: I get no EMail. In "/etc/cron.daily/", I also have "logwatch", whose EMail comes to me without problem. "/etc/aliases" is already setup to forward root and cron emails to my email adress. Testing the MTA (Exim) on command-line: success (anyway, logwatch also success on sending email) On another centos5 machine, the same script, the mail is sent. On the Centos 6: $ rpm -aq | grep cron crontabs-1.10-33.el6.noarch cronie-1.4.4-7.el6.x86_64 cronie-anacron-1.4.4-7.el6.x86_64 On the Centos 5: $ rpm -aq | grep cron crontabs-1.10-8 vixie-cron-4.1-81.el5 anacron-2.3-45.el5.centos How to setup the Centos6 system so that the cron sends me an email the script output?? -- RMA.

[OT] Playing mp4's on centos httpd

Sorry for the off topic, but hoping someone here can point me in a direction and end my endless googling... I have some mp4 training videos that our users need to be able to download or stream directly to their browser. I have the h.264 module loaded on httpd on centos (using http://swimminginthought.com/streaming-mp4-video-webserver-solved/#) So I think I have most of the infrastructure in place, but I'm not sure how to setup the streaming for all browsers. Do I need to embed some type of player? Like a flash player? Do browsers, Firefox and IE,. already have a player I can make use of? Any help or direction here is appreciated. Thanks, James
