r8712u wireless driver

I've just installed centos 6.3 for the first time on a test machine and couldn't be happier - except that a critical wireless adapter driver is missing - the r8712u. I would love to convert my mythtv machine from Fedora 17 to centos 6.3 to put all that chaos and instability behind me. My mythtv machine connects only wirelessly to the rest of my network and uses a Rosewill RNX-N180UBE USB adapter. This adapter has a larger than normal antenna with 5db of gain and supports 802.11n protocol. This provides greater bandwidth and a more reliable connection than any previously tested wireless adapter. However, it requires the r8712u driver that is absent from centos 6.3 and all the repos that I've examined. The elrepo repo has a number of packages that are close, but unfortunately not the r8712u. This driver is available for Fedora 17 in the kmod-staging package. Is there any chance to adapt this package for centos 6.3? Or at least the r8712u driver portion thereof? ext3 partition on LVM lost all data

Hello Gentlemen, I would like to ask a question about an issue I have with the Centos 6.3 installation. I have installed a Centos 6.3 on a server we used before with 5.4 on Friday. I have created a KS file to let me connect to the server via VNC and have all repos and packages preconfigured. I only needed to partition the hard drive using VNC. During the partition process I selected which volumes should be formatted and which should be left alone. The installation went perfectly, without a problem. I added the server to our Puppet infrastructure and started to assign modules to it. After I have installed and configured samba I wanted to mount the data volume so that people could continue their work on Monday. Unfortunately the partition was empty. Only the lost+found directory was present. Can you please tell me what went wrong? Or if this can be fixed somehow? CENTOS 6 3rd party repos compared to Centos 5?

Is there any differences between the repos used by Centos 5.8 and those used by Centos 6.x please - ie does C6 use the same 3rd party repos as C5 does? Is there a Centos wiki article for C6 repos? Doing a Centos mirror only via http

Hi all, Is it possible to setup a private local CentOS mirror only for the latest release (http://mirror.centos.org/centos/6/) via http only?? I know how to do using rsync, but I need to accomplish this via http service only ... Thanks.

Skype and Sound

I have installed Skype 4.0.0.8 on my new workstation running CentOS-6.3 (kvm) and the Gnome DTM. This host has an Intel DG43GT motherboard with on-board audio. The sound works when tested in the sound preferences in the desk top. Skype runs and the integrated usb video and microphone both work (I infer this from the mic test in Skype options showing movement on the intensity bar as I can hear nothing). I have gone through all of the choices in the audio setting and none of them work. OpenLDAP on CentOS 6.3

Hi All: I am attempting to setup OpenLDAP on c CentOS 6.3 platform. I have been able to locate numerous online how to documents but none seem to work correctly on CentOS 6.3. I believe that the reason is the new dynamic configuration (AKA cn=config). Can someone provide me with a pointer or two in the right direction I would greatly appreciated it. SeaMonkey on CentOS 6.3

Been a while since I used seamonkey, but needed it yesterday. The old version I had installed (2.11) threw an error when I tried it, so I grabbed 2.12.1 from mozilla.com. It throws the same error: $ /usr/local/seamonkey/seamonkey & [1] 7050 $ XPCOMGlueLoad error for file /usr/local/seamonkey/libxpcom.so: libxul.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Couldn't load XPCOM. Of course libxul.so is right there in /usr/local/seamonkey, as it is in the other expected mozilla-related places. Reminds me of the old LD_LIBRARY_PATH issues in Solaris and others. What's the modern way to address this?
