Dell Online Diagnostics for Centos 6.2

Hi Guys, Has anyone successfully installed and ran the Dell Online Diagnostics for Centos 6.2? RHEL 6 is a listed as a supported OS, but it appears the install.sh shell script says it is unsupported. I have a CentOS 6.2 Desktop-Version (my Laptop). I have install remmina via rpm and want now install a plugin (rpd). I have download the pluging from: http://pkgs.org/centos-6-rhel-6/russian-fedora-free-i386/remmina-plugins-rd… But now my system is missing 3 libraries. A problem with power outages

I have a CentOS-6.2 server in Italy. Every few months the server gets into a strange state and stops working after a power outage. I should say that this does not occur after every power outage; I suspect, but have no real evidence for this, that if the power comes back too quickly then the machine gets confused because it is in the middle of closing down. If I am in Italy the solution is simple; I just press the power button on the machine until it stops and then switch it on again, and everything works fine. I guess that the proper solution is to get a UPS. PowerTrust (or Trust) UPS's are available at a reasonable price (€40-€50). But I have one question about this solution. What if the outage lasts longer than the "life" of the UPS, about 10 minutes? I'd actually like the UPS simply to halt the machine in the proper way after say 1 minute; but can this be arranged? (If the machine knew it had gone onto UPS, this could be arranged fairly simply.) There is one other possibility. There is a Billion modem/router between the ADSL input and the computer. This does not seem to have any problem with power outages. So if it were possible to send a message to the router which would cause the computer to be turned off and on again, that might offer an alternative solution. One problem with this is that the Italian ISP only offers a dynamic IP address. I run ddclient with dyndns on the server to translate this into a fixed domain-name. But this means that any action of this kind would have to be taken before the IP address changes. I think it usually stays the same for several days, but I guess this might not be true if there is an outage at the ISP's site, during a big electric storm. I had some trouble with centos 6 installed on ESXi 5. Vnc didn't work properly until i removed the file /etc/xdg/autostart/vmware-user.desktop. I found the solution in this thread on vmware forums: http://communities.vmware.com/thread/326868 The same solution applies to xrdp since it uses vnc. Maybe this helps someone find the solution faster.

postgrey, postfix, tld list

Hello all, I am looking for the correct way to add postgrey to my system but whitelist everything except for com, org, and net domains. Most of my spam is from .info domains. There seems to be no way to only go after certain domains, instead postgrey wants to go after everything except what you whitelist. So my idea was to whitelist .com, .net, .org, .gov, and a few others while greylisting the rest. The syntax for the files want fqdn, email addresses, or domain names. But How do you just add a .TLD? postgrey_whitelist_clients ?? *.com *.net *.org ?? this sound right?

CentOS for ARM

Hi guys, I recently became aware that this is being worked on as of recently. A similar thing already exists, though. Those interested in an ARM port may also be interested in taking a look at RedSleeve Linux, which is an ARM port of the same upstream distribution as CentOS. You can look here for more info: http://www.redsleeve.org/about/ http://www.redsleeve.org/ In total 109 SRPMs had to be modified in order to get them to build and work on ARM. They are in SRPMS/changed directory on the RedSleeve mirror. (Note: About 5 of those 109 were changed in order to remove the upstream branding which isn't relevant to the CentOS effort as it is already taken care of. It is quite well known what those are.) I hope this is of interest to the CentOS ARM port efforts. Or, you could take RedSleeve for a spin, since that is already available. :) Gordan

build postfix rpm with mysql

hello list, I'm trying to build a postfix rpm that has mysql support included.
