Key auth question

I have a problem getting key authentication to work with one remote user (git), even though it works fine for the remote user "root". The remote file .ssh/authorized_keys is identical for both users - I cp'ed it from the root account to the git home dir. On local machine (OS X, by the way) I have: $ cd $ ls -l .ssh -rw------- 1 jussihirvi staff 668 Aug 24 16:13 id_rsa (the rest is omitted) On remote machine (as root): $ cd $ ls -ld .ssh drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 4096 Feb 11 17:45 .ssh $ ls -l .ssh total 8 -rw------- 1 root root 1768 Feb 11 17:45 authorized_keys -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 631 Feb 11 12:30 known_hosts On remote machine (as git): $ cd $ ls -ld .ssh drwxr-xr-x 2 git git 4096 Feb 12 11:15 .ssh $ ls -l .ssh total 8 -rw------- 1 git git 1768 Feb 12 10:52 authorized_keys -rw-r--r-- 1 git git 631 Feb 12 11:05 known_hosts When, on local machine, I do: $ ssh root@remotehost I get in without a password. But when I do $ ssh git@remotehost I will be asked for a password. What should I check? - Jussi

Hi All, Just wondering if anyone has had the occasion to use one of these for usb networking with Centos 6.2. Did it work out of the box? Any recommendations? It uses the ax88178 chipset and is a gigabit usb network adaptor. Thanks a bunch, in advance for your time. Phil

python26-memcached on centOS 5.5

Hi, Is anyone here running memcached + python2.6 + django setup on a CentOS 5.5?? Am trying to set one up here and have trouble with the python26-memcached installation. So far i have installed (via yum): 1.python26 2. python26-memcached 3. libevent 4. memcached-devel Now when i try to run `import memcache` from the python2.6 shell i get an ImportError: No module named memcache. The python26 installation picks up other modules(django etc..) fine. So there's no configuration problem from python26 interpreter. I am not able to figure out the problem. Any ideas/suggestions? Is building from source my only way out?? TLS support on postfix

Hi List, I have a postfix server based on CentOS 5 in which I have been trying to add TLS encryption support for SMTP. From the localhost when I do an EHLO, following is the output [root@xxxxxxx ~]# nc localhost 25 220 xxxxxxx.xxxx.xxx.xx ESMTP Postfix EHLO localhost 250-xxxxxxx.xxxx.xxx.xx 250-PIPELINING 250-SIZE 41943040 250-VRFY 250-ETRN 250-STARTTLS 250-AUTH PLAIN LOGIN 250-AUTH=PLAIN LOGIN 250-ENHANCEDSTATUSCODES 250-8BITMIME 250 DSN However from a remote location when I do the EHLO, the response does not contains STARTTLS, ENHANCEDSTATUSCODES and DSN krishna@L03:~$ nc xxxxxxx.xxxx.xxx.xx 25 220 xxxxxxx.xxxx.xxx.xx ESMTP Postfix EHLO localhost 250-xxxxxxx.xxxx.xxx.xx 250-PIPELINING 250-SIZE 41943040 250-VRFY 250-ETRN 250-AUTH PLAIN LOGIN 250 8BITMIME I have done some googling and found this might be because of the Cisco Router's "ESMTP Fix". Terminal settings with Putty?

Trying to use Putty 0.62 (the most current version I can find) and when I use the c compiler, I see a bunch of terminal codes that obfuscate the output of the compiler. (Teaching my son some programming) Anybody know what I should be setting to what? It's pretty much a CentOS6 server set up with defaults. Problems with Microsoft Forefront proxy with yum

Hello all, How can I configure yum to download updates when I need to authenticate to a Microsoft Forefront proxy?? I have tried to configure http_proxy variable as a "http_proxy="http://DOMAIN\\user:passwd@proxy:port/", but it doesn't works ... I have tried to set http_user and http_passwd also without luck. Thanks.

advice on bind/dns and many sites

hi all, currently my websites are sharing one server, also having bind running on that server for all of them. I am now breaking the sites on to different machines. So what would you do on bond/dns? I was thinking of making two servers as nameservers, one master, one slave, for all my domains. For resolution of the server itself I was originally going to make a recursive caching nameserver for the domains to go to. However, instead I was thinking of running bind as a caching server on each websites machine, with a couple extra points to online servers like googles (8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4) I was hoping to limit cpu/mem needs by putting the recursive/caching on a separate machine, but perhaps it is better to put it on each machine. what would you do?

advice on having php 5.2.x:

Hi all, My goal is to have PHP 5.2.x on a centos virtual machine (LXC) Looking at the repositories: - 6.2 has php 5.3: ftp://ftp.free.fr/mirrors/ftp.centos.org/6.2/updates/i386/drpms/ - 5.7 has php 5.1 ftp://ftp.free.fr/mirrors/ftp.centos.org/5.7/updates/i386/RPMS/ I'll have to rebuild a source RPM in order to have what I want: - Which base should I install for a php 5.2 VM? 6.2 or 5.7? - Which release of CentOS had a php 5.2 source rpm that I could just rebuild without too much extra patching? Thank you all. Side note: For legacy projects, I'll also have to have a php 4, but there, no problem: ftp://ftp.free.fr/mirrors/ftp.centos.org/4.9/updates/i386/RPMS/ has a php 4.3.9, so, no problem. The machines are simply development machines, on the LAN, in order to keep (very) old projects running if we ever have to get back on them. These are not for public or production use. -- RMA.

starting haldeamon on 6.2

haldaemon on 6.2 is not starting for me. (so I cannot run X). doing dmesg and tail /var/log/messages refeals nothing. doing strace -fv service haldaemon start says that g_malloc_n is not found or undefined symbol What might I be missing? I am fully upto date with yum. (x86_64 ) Very puzzling. I have other boxes running just fine. Its just this one being stubborn. Any thoughts. Did a bunch of searching and seems like they are talking about titanium which I do not have. Thanks Jerry
