iptables port forwarding

Dear all, I would like to forward a port to an internet server, but failed. can you help me? Server: eth0: 192.168.1.250, Port: 8080 TCP, CentOS 5.6 Remote server: IP: a.b.c.d Port: 8181 Forward path: client1(192.168.1.10) -> 192.168.1.250:8080 (forward) -> a.b.c.d Port: 8181 ----------------------------------------- In Fedora, I successfully to config the firewall using system-config-firewall and iptables command: 1. Run system-config-firewall 1.1 open local port 8080 1.2 add a forward rule: local 8080 to remote a.b.c.d:8181, tcp 2. echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_foward 3. add a iptables rule: /sbin/iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -d a.b.c.d -p tcp --dport 8181 -j MASQUERADE That's all. OpenOffice 3.3.0 crashing on CentOS 5.5

The last few releases of OpenOffice have gotten very unstable on my desktop which is a CentOS 5.5 i386 system. After multiple crashes when doing embedded simple drawings in OpenOffice writer (circles and lines with connections), I started using the versions from Sun then Oracle. I am now using version 3.3: openooffice.org3-3.3.0-9567. I've lived with this but with version 3.x it has gotten really bad. Display info: depth 16-bit, Intel Boradwater-G Chipset 965Q Crashes I am experiencing now: Writer sometimes using 100% CPU and X is unresponsive. (I have to ssh to the workstation and kill Writer to recover.) Random crashes in Writer Writer crashes when moving circles or lines in simple drawings (mainly circles, lines, clipart, etc.) (insert -> object -> OLE object -> OO drawing)... crashes in Calc when adding text at the end of a line of text in a cell. Could this be a problem with some setting or with Java? Any help would be most appreciated, -- Wade Hampton

Hello everyone, Im having a issue that I just cant seem to figure out. We currently are running an email server Centos 5.6 Postfix/Dovecot with a squirrelmail frontend. I was setting up a testbed to do a migration to SoGo using LDAP/MYSQL/POSTFIX/Dovecot. I have everything up and functional but one thing is giving me an issue. The testbed box will not handle a users mailbox over 2gb. We are using mbox on the existing server with no issues at all. I have multiple users with inboxes over 2gb and and archive mbox file with over 50gb. I have check postfix and made sure that the mailbox_size_limit = 0 Both are running i686 as returned by the arch command and both are Centos version 5.6. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. -- Bo Lynch

mirroring with lftp

i've maintained a local centos repository at work using rsync, but it seems the corp honchos have decided to block rsync at our firewall, plus its never been 100% reliable, I'd get aborts on protocol errors sometimes several times before pulling down a complete new distro update. i'm trying to figure out how to do this with lftp, and its got me somewhat stymied. I'm testing with --dry-run like... lftp -c 'open http://mirrors.kernel.org/centos/ && mirror -c -X \*/ia64 -X \*/s390 -X \*/alpha -X \*/SRPMS --dry-run' but my -X excludes don't seem to work (I don't want/need itanium, s390, alpha, or SRPMs in my repo). and, it doesn't seem to be aware of the symlinks from, for example, /5/ to /5.6/ and seems to want to pull down two copies instead (I understand that http doesn't make symlinks obvious). Should I use ftp:// instead of http:// or something? does someone have a script for maintaining a repo with lftp they'd like to share? what I saw on the wiki wasn't very helpful. -- john r pierce N 37, W 122 santa cruz ca mid-left coast

Hi all, Hey I'm trying to do some web cam stuff, and I found this link: http://freshmeat.net/projects/libv4l/releases/333037 I was doing the "rpm -qa | grep v4l" and nothing comes up, I did "ls path_to_centos/RPMS/* | grep v4l " and nothing comes up, I did 'yum provides "*/libv4l*"' and nothing comes up. Is the CentOS library for v4l named something different? Is this library something I can just grab and compile and "help" with my v4l efforts? Do I not need this library at all? I'm using 5.6 x86_64. Latest kernel produces kernel error on Dell R200 on boot-up

I accidentally noticed this error written to the warn log on my Dell R200's when the machines booted up after latest kernel update. Google doesn't have this exact error, only a few with differently named devices, but all seem to have to do with USB. Could this be a bug? Didn't see this error on other machines with more than one USB port, though. I'm attempting to install and configure HPLIP (HP Linux Imaging and Printing) software on my CentOS 5.3 x86_64 system without success. I've got a HP Officejet Pro 8500 multi-function printer connected via ethernet. I'm getting a message saying that it cannot locate the libcups module in the /usr/lib64 and /usr/lib directories. However, I can locate then correct modules using the find command. I can print to this printer using multiple versions of Fedora and multiple versions of Windows. Does anyone have any suggestions why it is not working? Thanks, Gene Poole
