Hey guys, I am trying to extract a pattern from a downloaded html file. I only want the first match printed, problem is I don't know how to force sed to exit after printing the first match of a capture group. Anyone know the trick to manipulating {p;q;} to print a capture group? Thanks, jlc

Grep: show me this line and the next N lines?

Can grep show the matching lines and the next N lines after a match? For instance, I have a config file wit hthe following text: [Tag h1] foreground=#2e5a03 underline=double indent=0 weight=PANGO_WEIGHT_BOLD scale=2.25 I would ideally grep on "[Tag h1]" and have grep display the match and the next 5 lines so that I see all the content of the h1 section. Problem changing server on a LAN

I'm having great difficulty trying to change server on my home LAN. At present 192.168.2.2 is my server, running CentOS-5.6 and connecting to an ADSL modem. I want to change server to another CentOS machine, 192.168.2.5 . The problem is that I cannot get the computers on the system to forget the old server, even when it is completely disconnected, and the new server is connected to the modem. It seems extraordinarily difficult to get rid of the link to the old server. Even when all the machines are re-booted they still want to give 192.168.2.2 as their default gateway. Is this a problem often met in this kind of situation? Hello, I run CentOS 5.6 on a Dell PowerEdge R815 with 256 GB of RAM. We use Sun Grid Engine to schedule jobs on this node. I want to limit the memory usage about 150 GB per process. So i use the /etc/security/limits.conf configuration file. I test this configuration with some tools with a lower GB limit (about 2 or 4 GB), and it works ! But, at least one process (oases - a bioinformatics tool) bypass this limitation and use always 240 GB of memory (the last run) !! /etc/security/limits.conf ... # * hard rss 150000000 * soft rss 150000000 # * hard as 150000000 * soft as 150000000 # ... # uname -r 2.6.18-238.9.1.el5.centos.plus Any idea ? php 5.3 packages

Hi all, I want to install php 5.3 (php53-* packages) on customer's server with Centos 5.6 but I see that there is only a few packages. Is there any repo with compatibile packages (for php 5.1 I we can usually use rpforge)? Thnaks, JJ

Has anyone got Bastille-linux running on Centos-5.6? http://bastille-linux.sourceforge.net claims RHEL5 support but I ran into problems running it on a Centos 5.6 test system. First I had to "ln -s /usr/lib64/Bastille /usr/lib" just to get it to run at all. Then I tried faking /etc/redhat-release with Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.6 ... but I get this (why would it want "HPSpecific.pm" !!!???: [root@slice244:sting ~]# bastille --assessnobrowser ERROR: Couldn't determine Red Hat version! Eliminating duplicate photos

I've seen fslint and fdupes recommended for this in CentOS, but neither seem to be available as packages. Is anyone using either under CentOS-5.6? Trying to understand USB HD configuration

I am trying to understand how my USB drive is setup in Centos 5.5 -- especially since I made a mistake of backing up to it when it was not turned on. The USB drive is accessed as /media/disk. However, when I did a backup WITHOUT the drive turned on, the data was put into the directory, /media/disk. Now, when I turn on the USB drive (it is self-mounted in 5.5), the USB drive has been assigned "disk-1" -- understood. What I am missing is the "table" that contains the information pointing to USB drive, disk-1. I would like to reset the table so that "disk" is the USB drive and delete the data that is now on my main drive. Hopefully I have explained the situation properly.
