httpd log weirdness

Hi All, I setup a new Centos 5.5 bod and it will be running a site for me. Apache is running and daily I get e-mailed a log from the box. The log today said: --------------------- httpd Begin ------------------------ Requests with error response codes 404 Not Found http://www.cablecarmuseum.org/Car42.jpg: 1 Time(s) ---------------------- httpd End ------------------------- But that is not my domain at all. How would this entry show up in my log? I ping'd the domain above and it does not resolve to the IP of the box or any of my IP's. Can anyone shed some light on this? Best, -Jason

Hi , all : Is there any HR management software which used the LDAP authentication method in the linux? I used the orangeHRM tool , but found it did not have the LDAP authentication . So would anyone can give me some suggestions ? Thanks in advance.....

How to strip out the title bar from xterm windows on CentOS 5 GNOME?

Hi. Running CentOS 5 with the default GNOME desktop. Is it possible to configure xterm windows not to have title bars to get the most out of the available screenspace? I've tried to look this up but mostly find reference how to change the content of the title bar; I want to remove it completely. Found a reference to Compiz but the version available through CentOS seems old (0.0.13 compared to the current around 0.8 or 0.9) and having a double zero version number, I was afraid to use it. Building packages using RPMBUILD

I have been following the MaximumRPM guide from here: http://www.rpm.org/max-rpm-snapshot/index.html and it seems a bit dated, but still very good (if fact the best all round documentation I have found so far) on using RPM package manager, and how to build rpm packages. The guide tells me to use the original paths, yet Centos wiki says otherwise. [rpmbuilder@karsites sox]$ rpm -iv ./sox-12.18.1-1.src.rpm error: cannot write to %sourcedir /usr/src/redhat/SOURCES Is there a package I need to install and run to set things up corectly? I have created a user called 'rpmbuilder' under my home dir, and created the rpmbuild dirs under that. So what build dir shall I go for? how to install Linux on an IBM xserver 335 server without graphics card?

Hi All, I recently got some IBM Xseries 335 servers 2nd hand, and noticed they don't have any graphics card. Some google searched indicate they only have an uplink port, which you could connect to another (other model) IBM server and use that as the head node. But, I don't have one available. It has 2x GB NIC's, and what looks like a management port, but I can't figure out how to use it. SSH & HTTP connections to it was futile. OR, it was assigned a dedicated IP, on a different subnet than ours but it's not written down anywhere so I don't know what IP to connect to. Does anyone know how to get Linux installed onto these devices? Google Chrome Terms of Service(Google Chrome executable), BSD (source code and Chromium executable except chromium 5 beta),BSD License with proprietary parts (source code and chromium 5 beta executable, as it integrates Adobe Flash Player 10.1[1])[2] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Chrome in my interpretation, this means Google Chrome is fully open-source, only the flash player has proprietary codes. am i right, or i'm missing something? i would be happy if someone could correct me. thank you!! *ps.: because "they" say google is the "big brother"

Best way to set up for PHP websites

I am trying to figure out what's the best way of setting up PHP. The standard mod_php seems to not be a good solution, as it requires apache to be in the prefork configuration, due to PHP not being thread safe. Something like mod_fcgi seems to be the way to go, but I can't seem to find a good guide on setting it up. I installed Zend Server, but seems like they are only supporting FastCGI for Apache on Windows, and only mod_php on Linux. Their admin control panel is using lighttpd and mod_fcgi on Linux. I getting it to work with Apache, but am having issues with the missing mysqli libraries. Is it recommended to use mod_fcgi on CentOS? Is there a way to get it to work with Zend Server? If not, should I try to get things working with lighttpd? I'm not sure how easy it would be to set up a config to work with Drupal. CentOS 5.5 Sofware RAID1

I have the CentOS 5.5 install DVD and trying to install with software RAID1 on two 2TB SATA drives. The CentOS install only sees one drive. This is a Supermicro motherboard with fakeraid turned off in bios. I tried the trick like so: dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda bs=512 count=64 dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sdb bs=512 count=64 Still no go. linux rescue console does see both sda and sdb. Whats going on?
