cron.hourly runs twice

For some reason I cannot fathom, cron.hourly runs twice each hour on one of my two CentOS-5.4 systems, as reported in /var/log/cron: ------------------------- Mar 16 14:01:01 helen crond[27833]: (root) CMD (run-parts /etc/cron.hourly) Mar 16 14:01:01 helen crond[27834]: (root) CMD (run-parts /etc/cron.hourly) ------------------------- On the other it just runs once, as expected. ------------------------- Mar 16 13:01:01 althea crond[23373]: (root) CMD (run-parts /etc/cron.hourly) Mar 16 14:01:01 althea crond[23553]: (root) CMD (run-parts /etc/cron.hourly) Mar 16 15:01:01 althea crond[23695]: (root) CMD (run-parts /etc/cron.hourly) ------------------------- This doesn't have any bad effect, but it does run the scripts in /etc/cron.hourly twice. I just wonder if anyone has come across this curiosity? Where to find Intrinsic.h and xlib.h

Hi When I install NCL on my system. There are many error about X11 appeared. Such like: xdevice.c(40): catastrophic error: could not open source file "X11/Xlib.h" rasdraw.c(30): catastrophic error: could not open source file "X11/Intrinsic.h" w_idt.c(26): catastrophic error: could not open source file "X11/Intrinsic.h" X11_class0.c(39): catastrophic error: could not open source file "X11/Xlib.h" ld: cannot find -lXpm ....... I search for these two file by 'locate'. Only find them: /usr/include/xulrunner-sdk-1.9/system_wrappers/X11/Intrinsic.h /usr/include/xulrunner-sdk-1.9/system_wrappers/X11/Xlib.h And there are nothingin these two files. : Xlib.h： #pragma GCC system_header #pragma GCC visibility push(default) #include_next <X11/Xlib.h> #pragma GCC visibility pop Intrinsic.h #pragma GCC system_header #pragma GCC visibility push(default) #include_next <X11/Intrinsic.h> #pragma GCC visibility pop Them I install libX11-devel and reinstall xorg-x11-proto-devel. But still can't find Xlib.h and Intrinsic.h Does anybody know the reason? Thanks!

I have brand new deployment of tomcat 5.5.23 on centos5.3. I have received a jar file and distribution folder from my developer who has developed the application on windows. Can anyone please tell me how to deploy this to linux?

Ok, so another apc UPS 3000 complained about bad batteries, and I changed them out from the same order that I'd gotten in a couple of months ago. The APC SmartUPS 3000 started connecting and disconnecting the USB connection. I brought down and up the service, no joy. Finally, after googling, I found a *completely* undocumented way to start apcupsd, that a few years ago someone was told to try, so as to log debugging info, to send to a developer: apcupsd -d1000 -T I've just skimmed the man page, and the online docs, and there is *no* mention of either parm. I found nothing in the logs. However, when I kill -HUPped it, and restarted the service, the USB stuff had stopped. Ok, one problem down. The change battery light's still on. I'll see if it still is in the morning. One thing I did note, while skimming the docs, and comparing my results from apcaccess, was that while the nominal voltage for the APC SmartUPS 3000 is 48V, the new batteries are showing 55.4V. Anyone have any idea if this could be why the replace battery light's on - it's more than 5V difference? mark

I would use iostat -x and see if there is a disk or group of disks that show abnormal service times and/or utilization. Are there any errors in the logs? How are the disks configured? Software raid? Is the adapter's firmware at the latest revision? Was .128 kernel running stock drivers?Is .164 kernel running stock drivers? (maybe weak-updates from .128 kernel?) What IO scheduler is this? Default CFQ? I would move this discussion to 'CentOS Users' as that is the more appropriate list for this. -Ross

APIC error on Intel Atom CPU, CentOS 5.x

I am seeing ``APIC error on CPU3: 60(60)'' warnings from dmesg periodically on a CentOS 5.4 box, kernel 2.6.18-164.11.1.el5. The CPU is an Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU 330 @ 1.60GHz. I am not a hardware type, and don't have a clue what this means. This is occurring while an rsync-3.0.4 process is receiving data sent by a machine running rsync-3.0.7 (I just updated the CentOS box to rsync-3.0.7 since noticing that it was a bit dated). This is the only significant load on this machine at this time. This machine has locked up requiring a hard reset twice while this rsync process has been running at night with no problems at other times. Any suggestions? Thanks. Hi, cpuspeed did not start on all my systems. CentOS 5.4 x86_64 /etc/init.d/cpuspeed start (nothing happen) Something is missing ? Thanks in advance for any idea. CPU Upgrade

Hi all; I have a Dell 2900 with a single Quad core chip and an expansion slot for a second Quad core chip. I have CentOS 5.4 installed on the server now. If I add the second Quad core chip do I need to change anything per the install? Do I have to re-install the OS? Or will CentOS simply see the second chip once I reboot and just work? fuse filesystem mount issue

Hi! I'm using the ntfs-3g module for my portable USB hard drive on Centos 5.4. When I plug it into my centos box it mounts fine, but its owned by root and nobody but root has permission to write to it. I've been perusing the ntfs-3g and fuse man pages (and other docs) and they all seem to say that the default settings should be to allow RW access to everyone. but that isn't what I'm getting. Mount says this: /dev/sdd1 on /media/SeagateUSB type fuseblk (rw,noexec,nosuid,nodev,allow_other,default_permissions,blksize=4096) but right-click/properties on the desktop icon shows no write permission if yer not root: onwer: root, group: root, and all the "folder access" lines are greyed out. How would one approach solving this problem?
