Hi guys, Recently I've done a bad bad thing, buying a laptop with an ATI card. The card itself is supposed to be quite decent performance wise, but the ATI drivers still suck a lot. I haven't yet tried booting Centos on this laptop, but I used a Fedora 12 LiveCD. Fedora displays things nicely, but no 3D accel (I like to play OpenArena/Tremulous every now and then). After some serious googling I learned that I cannot even install ATI Catalyst driver on Fedora, because of too new Xorg. Do you have any success stories with running Centos and have 3D acceleration on this video card? lspci reports: 01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc RS780M/RS780MN [Radeon HD 3200 Graphics] 02:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc M92 [MobilityRadeon HD 4500 Series] Yes, 2 gpus. Hi; I don't know what these things are called so that I can look for an OS solution. I want to install an email server interface like Hotmail where people can check their email TTW. What is this called? Any recommendations? TIA, Susan

Dual Gateways, Dual IPs on the same net

If I configure a second virtual ip address on a device, will it always send packets to the gateway configured, or to it's primary gateway. For example, two ISPs configured, two firewalls configured, gateway IP's 192.168.1.1 and .2. Internal server has IP 192.168.1.100 with gateway .1. Incoming packets that have been forwarded from outside, (for instance an SSH session), will be returned to .1 for routing back to the internet. If a virtual adapter is configured with ip 192.168.1.101 and a gateway of .2 will traffic that is destined to 101, always be returned .2???

Get Me Outta Here! Web site security issue

Hi All, I have a CentOS 5.4 web server. I have some stuff that runs on 443. When I hit https://<the site> The user gets a warning saying that site identity could not be verified and the user can add an exception if they want. How do I stop this from happing? Do I need to buy an SSL cert? Aren't these really expensive per server and I have 5 servers I would need to do this too. Can anyone provide advice? -Jason

Dear All I have installed an application on my CentOS 5.0 server but when I want to login to the gui I got the following error message : "*Warning*: make sure zend_optimizer.license_path is properly configured in php.ini! in */var/www/html/stats/index.php* on line *0"* But that index.php file is not editable via vi text editor . Can you please let me know how I can correct it according to the warining message received? Thank you

raid1 creation :: not large enough to join array

Hi! I have 2 identical hdd (1002FBYS) with the same firmware, etc .. really identical! when i try to add the second hdd to this raid1 array i have the message that /dev/sdb is not large enough to join array!! on the first hdd i have 100 mb unpartitioned at the end of disk (as i understood that mdadm put there some info...) Anyone, any idea what can be wrong? i already done this procees several times and this is first time i encounter this and i have no idea what can be the problem .. Thanks! Adrian

yum install -y gcc?

Dear All I tried to install GCC3.x , required to compile Asterisk , on my CentOS 5 server as the followings : #yum install -y gcc But in the middle of the installation , my server went down from sudden power cut . After power recovery , I tried again but I am facing with the following error : "Error:Missing dependency : libstdc++-devel = 4.1.2-46.el5_4.1 is needed by package gcc-c++" Can you please let me know what is its meaning and how I can proceed to re-install it ? Thank you

I need to install application on our Centos5.4 final, every time get this message configure: error: You MUST have the libxml2 (aka gnome-xml) library installed and I tried to run yum install libxml2 and get this message Package libxml2-2.6.26-2.1.2.8.i386 already installed and latest version Please help

Problems loading drbd after upgrade

Hi, I've upgrade the kernel to the latest version (C5) and after the update the drbd is not being loaded at reboot time. My previous running kernel was 2.6.18-164.el5. I've checked the /lib/modules/ and /lib/modules/2.6.18-164.10.1.el5/weak-updates/drbd82/drbd.ko -> /lib/modules/2.6.18-164.el5/extra/drbd82/drbd.ko And /lib/modules/2.6.18-164.el5/extra/drbd82/drbd.ko exists 2004 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2047377 Jan 12 22:52 /lib/modules/2.6.18-164.el5/extra/drbd82/drbd.ko And the contents (at least the size) is the same of the kmod-drbd82 rpm -ql kmod-drbd82 /lib/modules/2.6.18-92.1.13.el5 /lib/modules/2.6.18-92.1.13.el5/extra /lib/modules/2.6.18-92.1.13.el5/extra/drbd82 /lib/modules/2.6.18-92.1.13.el5/extra/drbd82/drbd.ko ls -lsa /lib/modules/2.6.18-92.1.13.el5/extra/drbd82/drbd.ko 2004 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2047377 Oct 3 2008 /lib/modules/2.6.18-92.1.13.el5/extra/drbd82/drbd.ko If I insmod the drbd I can load it and if I start (service drbd start) I can access the shares so something is wrong :)

php update

Hi, according to [CentOS] CentOS-announce Digest, Vol 59, Issue 5 I made an update to php. The Server is running apache in fastcgi mode. Up to yesterday all was OK. Now as far as I see the php script is not further running with the correct user: but the suexec is startet with correct uid and gid! Any help? Suggestions? Helmut
